  • Albert Park Lake in Victoria, Australia, is home to a large variety of birdlife. Most birds will simply fly across the road, but the black swans in particular prefer to walk across. Luckily these two waited until the speeding vehicles ahead had passed. We were travelling at a sensible speed and thus easily stopped to capture the moment.
Shame goes to the driver of the truck from Aquanas.com.au (rego: XMT-844) that can be seen two vehicles ahead. Moments before, at the previous traffic light, that truck zipped into the left lane alongside the car that was already waiting there, then sped off while the light was still red! It then drove at greater than 60km/h until it caught up with the vehicles ahead. These swans, plus their fellow waterbirds, are exactly the reason for the 50km/h speed limit on this lakeside road.
