After feeding a few rolled oats to some local birds here in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia, I spotted this little ant heading home carrying one of the spilled oats. Such strength and determination!

One of our local magpies here in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia often makes sounds like the robot “R2-D2” from the original “Star Wars” movie. Besides the clicks, chirps and warbles there's also the occasional “wheeEEEeeoo” whistle. I just managed to catch a few snippets of this while it sat there merrily singing away at our kitchen window.

Filmed from the viewing platform at Edithvale Wetlands. I only had a mobile phone camera, so I couldn't get a decent close-up - but it was beautiful to hear.

This large family of native ducks has been roaming our suburban street and visiting our neighbour's swimming pool. One of the ducklings stops for a few seconds, then races to catch up with the group. Too cute!

These galahs were messing about in the trees and power lines opposite our house in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia. One flipped upside-down, but managed to right itself, then interacted with the one next to it before flying off.

Albert Park Lake in Victoria, Australia, is home to a large variety of birdlife. Most birds will simply fly across the road, but the black swans in particular prefer to walk across. Luckily these two waited until the *speeding* vehicles ahead had passed. We were travelling at a sensible speed and thus easily stopped to capture the moment. We occasionally spot several of these tiny birds, possibly thornbills, in the fruit trees in our back yard in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia. They move quickly and are thus very tricky to film in close-up. I finally managed to capture some footage showing one of them apparently feeding on the fuzzy stuff on the staghorn in one of our plum trees.

I heard what sounded like hundreds of rainbow lorikeets in neighbour's gum tree in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia. Just as I started filming, the whole flock suddenly burst out en masse and flew off.

Following recent heavy rains, the waterlogged centre divide on busy Springvale Road in Waterways, Victoria, Australia became a makeshift paddling pool for a mother duck with her ducklings. We stopped to assist them across the road to the relative safety of the wetlands alongside, but after fifteen minutes, it seemed they weren't going anywhere.

I'm pretty sure this is a currawong, which I filmed singing out to others nearby from the banksia tree in our front yard in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia.
