- Molly the galah has been in several videos on our channel already. He doesn't have the best history for diet, which he'll tell you himself when he asks: "Want some pizza?" Having been surrendered to rescue, we've been steadily working through some of his health challenges but this latest one has his care takers worried.
Molly has a faulty valve leading into his cervicocephalic air sac, resulting in his air sac over-inflating. Molly literally blows up like a balloon. His former owner described it as a pimple that kept appearing on his neck.
When Molly presented at Bird Vet Melbourne in Burwood, the air sac was so inflated his skin was bubbling all the way from the back of his neck, across the front of his chest. Molly has clearly been very uncomfortable.
Avian vet, Dr Phil Sacks discusses the case as he works to make Molly more comfortable.

I am learning so much from these videos. Thank you
I have a 25 year old double yellow head with a ruptured air sac on his right cheek. It hasnt given issues in 10 years but we couldnt get it to stop reinflating at the start... do you think surgery would be necessary for a long life?
Molly is a fighter that's for sure i have never seen that problem in a parrot before a good video guys
Well done
A very interesting vid....but What about use gloves?...please. 😉😉😉
What is it with people's fascination with gloves? If there is no serious risk of zoonotic disease and it's not for a major operation, gloves are more hindrance than help. They impact dexterity and hands washed with soap and water are just as or more clean than gloves.
