You would most likely be very familiar with how my f450 is rigged out with all my state radios, Motorola & Kenwood, repeater and console , strobe lights, sirens and lots of other specialized equipment.. I often service and do field repairs and trouble shooting issues that arise. Good video.

In my opinion, this is a better looking radio then the 2000. But I have never seen one that did not have some sort of issue. But when they are working, they are a great base radio.

We never got silver faced Grant XL's here in Australia, we only got black ones. However, we did get silver faced Cobra 148GTL's, same same, but same😁👍 I have a couple of each, as well as a couple of original Grant's and a bunch of other old classics, but Grant XL's/Cobra 148GTL's are still probably my favourite radio. It's a shame someone hacked that radio so bad, when it's so easy to get 113 extra channels (26.815 - 28.085) by simply adding 3 tiny (inconspicuous) toggle switches to the rear aluminium panel, leaving the entire front end completely stock and fully functional. I'm guessing the hole cut in the side might've been for a digiscan (5 pin din plug)

These are probably my favorite radio! Classy looking. In my opinion the only mod needed is to open the clarifier but no extra slide! That makes it jumpy to operate. Nice restoration! That radio will live forever!

i have this exact radio and loved the audio it has . got alot of compliments in skip for it . Also for the record i accidentally dropped a deadkey in my home town {ramona Ca } on the locals for 3 hours and it lived .. phone started ringing off the hook from fireball, big phil and 220 for it .. totally funny . Disco Duck .. the relocation station now in texas ..10-7

The only good part of a dak is the case.the rest is junk. I have one with tram 42,the other with star 3900..perfect is possoble but you have to know what youre doing to make them work.

I hate putting the echo board that close to the rf section. I've never had a 1/2 watt talk back resistor burn up in 35 years. There's nothing wrong with using one watt.

Sonybond is the bane of many rigs. I use GC Electronics Radio-TV Service Solvent to soften the hard stuff. Gets it pliable and easier to pick off with tweezers. Credit to Mike's Radio Repair for the tip!
