Nice pristine 148! Nice work! What’s your opinion on changing the clarifier pot into 10-turn pot?

I don't like them on anything. I don't even unlock clarifiers on my own radio.

If 6 is dead, then AM skip is not happening. Or so I find it that way where I am. But LSB3 38 is always a good spot to try.

Usually that's the case. I find 9 is always booming with that Spanish skip !

@@pulsarcb 9 does have skip allot, no idea why......

I saw you had done work on a galaxy 99v i have the 99v2 and have a question can this type radio havve bias issues ssb without distorting transmit in barefoot but add an amp behind am still crystal clear but ssb distorts and looks like a top put trim trying to swing but stops no matter the output level going into a hidrv. 250 lo med hi same issues am fm appear good a standard output grant runs beautiful

Bias being off could definitely be an issue. A spectrum analyzer will show that with an incorrect final bias, more intermodulation distortion will appear all over and especially in the harmonics. However some amps are just not meant to be good on sideband. An amp guy will know more than myself but you could have an amp thats not biased well for sideband. Big difference also from a class C amp to a class AB amp. Some are great on AM some are great on SSB. I'm not an amp expert but that's the jist.

Also, you may overdriving the amp. Make sure your swing on ssb isn't excessive. Keep that ssb swing to 12 watts PEP. If your reaching 20 watts or more that's your problem. Make sure the ALC is adjusted properly or even working. Hope those things help.

@@pulsarcb sorry I didn't mention that the amp is a " rocket box" DESIGNED to easily handle 330 watt drive or even hotter I turn the RF out down to one watt carrier on AM driving to 25 Which translates to similar ssb drive it was told to me it could take 45+ drive which it more less makes its namesake 250 it apparently is all surf.ace mount except the coils and the mosfets finals 2 of them during solar storm coincidentally a static storm same time overnight the finals weakened almost to blown but we're still pumping 55 with 5-8 carrier talking to 35
