  • Here's a fix on scratchy microphones. Just like potentiometers, switches can get oxidation on them too. Some deoxit usually fixes the problem.

    Had one in 1974 or '75. Just the chrome side key cost an extra $50 back then. Can't remember what the mic cost. Everybody got one, and the side key. Gorgeous. Had it on my Cobra Cam 89 base.

    Instead of working the contacts, I put a dollar bill in between the reeds, apply a bit of tension and work the bill back and forth.
    A dollar bill has a texture that cleans with out harming the reeds.

    I have a nonamplifid D104. I do have a preamp board new in the package to put in it. But never seem to get around to it.
