Those radios came with a 5 pin mic it needs the 5 mic for the shielding in Xmt and rec. hopefully when you hook up and amp or power mic to that your squeal doesn’t comeback. They wire like a cobra 148. Hope it works
A powered mic still uses the same wiring as a regular mic it's just amplified at the mic. I tried 4 different microphones including a Turner +3 and no squeal. If what you say is true then 5 pin to 4 pin adapters would be useless.

Depends what's wrong with it. They're good radios if they're fixed right. Usually by the time I see one, it's been hacked and modded to the point of no return sometimes.
