I know it’s a cliche but really regretting resubscribing this year. The shipping is now the only benefit as an international subscriber. I got my January package early but I honestly couldn’t be bothered watching anything right away. I already own Deranged and The Seventh Curse. Talk about buyer’s remorse. Thanks for the video, gentlemen. Y'all had me laughing my ass off at that movie with the girl humping a corpse and lunch meat. I ended up getting the Street Fighter II doc, the Tai Kato films, and my obligatory VS subs. I'm sort of intrigued by the VHS Hitfest release this month, but they didn't even put a trailer up and I can't find anything anywhere about this SOV "auteur." Overall, very underwhelming month from VS, but I was kinda glad they didn't have much extra stuff I wanted.

His recent films have been fantastic: Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World and Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn. Same with Aferim!. Uppercase Print is quite arty, about how the Romanian dictatorship ruined this teenager who did some minor graffiti against the government

NO, this does not have "heart"....this is a pathetic rehash of the 2 previous attempts of making a "movie" from a no-talent misguided "filmmaker". It's sad to keep hearing the same dialogue of global warming from the worst acting you could find. It only gets some attention because it's so hilariously bad. So bad it's "good" up to a point.

So glad to see another review from MC. Cool to see HH again as well! Agree on your take about Invisible Man, i feel the same towards many blumhouse films except M3gan. The fact that this movie made you both want to discuss it makes me want to see it. It sounds like a drag but it might be fun to watch at home with friends. I'm going to have to check it out!

The cold reaction overall to this movie surprises me a little, but not completely. I think this is a mostly solid movie, and feel like it deserves more of an “it’s okay!” than the “it sucks!” response it’s getting. That being said… As a creature feature, I think it’s mostly a bust. I don’t think the effects are awful, they’re just underwhelming. I think if we had gotten a really cool Wolf Man in the end, the story would be different. All the time spent wondering where the creature is and what it’s going to look like would feel more like expertly built anticipation rather than what it’s feeling like for most: a waste of time. From where I’m at, I still enjoy all that other stuff, and ultimately enjoy this movie… which kind of shocks me because I want nothing more from art than cool monsters. Monsters are my favorite thing.

I also thought the recent The Invisible Man was lame AF. I went in totally blind. It felt like it was some other script they had lying around. I also can't stand that actress from "Her Smell."

The writing was on the wall when they did that Universal Horror Nights thing with The Wolf Man. I'm not surprised.

My understanding is that some of the original prints on this set were not available for whatever reason, and so to include some of these prime examples of the genre, they were stuck using the best elements available from whatever was available. This apparently included VHS tapes.

Very happy ICED finally got released. It's not going to be for every 80's slasher fan but I enjoy it and the snowy atmosphere is an added bonus. For those curious why it's a big deal, it only had a VHS release and bootleg DVD's. A lot of people begged Bill Olson back in the early days of Code Red to release it. The only downfall with this release is the film elements weren't used. Apparently the film elements were available to Terror Vision back when they were trying to license it. For whatever reason VS decided to take the cheaper route on this release. Thankfully the trailer VS released looks a lot better than the screen shots on their site.
