What a great episode. Thank you for this. I guess it’s time I finally dive into that Zatoichi set which has been sitting on my shelf for about a year.

Great choices, MC! Yeah, if anyone still needs to get Seven Samurai in their collection, this is your time. Even if you don't think you like samurai films in general, get Seven Samurai. It's essential to any collection.

Great List sir! I love Samurai movies. I own all of these except for the Lone Wolf and Cub and Zatoichi box sets. I adore Seven Samurai and Lady Snowblood. I own Sword of Doom but keep forgetting to watch it, so need to fix that along with getting Lone Wolf and Cub. Thanks Master Chaos!

How can you limit yourself to just 5? Lol keep going. They’re all bangers. Harakiri is my personal favorite :)

Excellent selections MC. Zaitoichi even inspiring Rutger Hauer with his late 80s Romp “Blind Fury” which is pretty fun. I imagine you have seen Hanzo the Razor series of films, soft core sex, funky soundtrack and Samurai action. Not brilliant but not easily forgotten either 😜 Sex and Fury is another great one, more trashy than Lady Snowblood but has some dazzling lady action slicing and dicing up dudes.

I love that Hanzo has to strengthen his dick by torturing it so he can use it to interrogate prostitutes. That’s a crazy series!

I've seen (and own) all of these except The Sword of Doom and the Zatoichis (those two have been on my radar for a long time). This video pushed me to check out The Sword of Doom on the Criterion Channel, and since you mention the end of the movie here, I have to say it left me conflicted.
It's not about what is shown because what's there is superb. I'm just torn because some big things feel like they're left hanging. Not getting conclusions for three significant characters makes me wonder why the movie spent such time building them up. This is still a superb movie, but I was just wondering if this also bugged you or what your thoughts on this are.
    Keep it sam-tastic, Chaos Shujin.

Many films end before they are complete wrapped up, but that’s because it’s hard to contain a life story within a small amount of time. I agree that there are flaws, but Nakadai’s energy is what sticks with me and that’s what I hold onto when I think of the film and not the hanging threads.

@@masterchaosofficial agreed. He's such a pathetic but also terrifying character. I can't think of too many others like him which is (usually) a compliment.

Love epic samurai films Seven Samurai is some of the best character development ever. F#+k Avengers assemble Seven samurai assemble for the win. I'd put Harakiri, Sword of doom, Throne of blood, Lone wolf and lady Snowblood in my top list too. There is a easter egg hidden in the Lone wolf and cub boxset packaging there is a blueprint of the baby cart in there see if you can find it

Oh, I’ve found it! Throne is a masterwork, love that one. The arrows!!
