Return to happier days, when Washington’s football team was proudly called the Redskins, and relive the good times with these homemade highlights remastered from my pile of VHS tapes and a yard-sale video cassette player that (unlike some teams) never gives up.

2012 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles
Say what you will about Dan Snyder and RGIII (go ahead... we'll wait), but 2012 was a fun and memorable season - especially the second half in which the Redskins won 7 straight games to finish the regular season, including 5 divisional games. This was one of them, although the '12 Eagles weren't quite up to the mark of prior Philly teams. That's putting it mildly as the 2012 season in Philly was a fizzle, prompting the dismissal of long-time head coach Andy Reid (who, as I recall, barely amounted to anything after being jettisoned by the Eagles - so, good move!)

1988 RetroSkins Highlights: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Washington Redskins [RE-ISSUE!]
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.14 дней назад
The Redskins notched their first win of what would be a tough '88 season, surviving a scare from the scrappy underdog Steelers in what would be the only visit by Pittsburgh to Washington over the final 29 seasons played at RFK Stadium (the previous D.C. meeting being a 16-13 Redskins win over the Steelers at RFK in '68). For the Redskins, nothing came easy as the defending Super Bowl Champions,...
2000 RetroSkins Highlights: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Washington Redskins

We go back to 2000, for a playoff grudge match between the Redskins and the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay escaped in the '99 divisional round with a 14-13 win over Washington, a game dominated by defense. And so it was again this time, with Redskins defense having the upper hand from beginning to end.... almost. Those Redskins big-name off-season acquisitions smothered the Bucs offense entirely, until ...
2004 RetroSkins Highlights: Minnesota Vikings vs Washington Redskins

In the 2004 season finale, one team was playing for pride, the other for a playoff birth. You wouldn't be faulted for getting them confused while watching this game. The Redskins smothering defense was (for once) paired with fairly efficient offense, while the Vikings stumbled through most of this one getting nipped by untimely penalties and rundown by the Redskins punishing rushing attack. Pat...
1991 RetroSkins Highlights: Detroit Lions vs Washington Redskins [RE-ISSUE]

The '91 'Skins were an opening night sensation, demolishing the visiting Lions, 45-0, on this Sunday Night Football season opener at joyous RFK Stadium. Without Barry Sanders (who never beat the 'Skins anyway, just sayin') the Lions were a toothless bunch. Only a merciful kneel down at the 1-yard line kept the score from being worse. The '91 Super-Skins never looked back after this win, rolling...

The Redskins battled the elements - and a few demons from the ’86 season - in this late November classic from the 1987 Super Season. As the rain poured down, Joe Gibbs’ offense got stuck in the mud while the visiting Giants built a 16-0 halftime lead. Muddied but unbowed, the Skins sloshed their way back in the second half of this grudge match vs Big Blue. Jay Schroeder was brilliant, throwing ...
1993 RetroSkins Highlights: Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins (RE-ISSUE)

The '93 season was a hard downfall for the Redskins franchise, but this opening night clobbering of the Cowboys remains a point of pride. With appreciation to Emmitt Smith for holding out of the opener (contract issues), the Cowboys were left short-handed on offense opening the door for the Redskins to roll to a 35-16 opening night victory. The two teams' seasons would turn out very differently...
1984 RetroSkins Highlights: St. Louis Cardinals vs Washington Redskins

Here's a true gem from yesteryear! It's the 1984 season finale with the Redskins playing for the NFC East title at RFK Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals?!? The Cardinals of the 80's were memorable for being totally unmemorable. Other than a post-season spot in the generously wide open '82 "Super Bowl Tournament", the Cardinals never got close to the playoffs - except for this season. '84 ...
2015 RetroSkins Highlights: Buffalo Bills vs Washington Redskins

The Redskins evened their record and separated themselves from the rest of the so-so NFC East, steam-rolling the visiting Bills to take control of the division race. To date, this remains the only Washington win vs Buffalo since Super Bowl XXVI. Kirk Cousins was masterful, guiding the Redskins to touchdowns on their first three drives. If not for an errant fumble late in the second quarter, the...
2007 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs New York Giants

We go back to 2007 for this do-or-die contest for the Washington Redskins, who were facing an uphill battle to the post-season after a mid-season 4-game slump derailed a once promising year. Having regained their winning ways with a Thursday Night win vs the Bears 10-days prior, the Redskins went into the Meadowlands (of all places) desperate for a win to even their record at 7-7 and keep unlik...
1998 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs Oakland Raiders

Time for another forgotten game from a forgettable season (at RetroSkins, it's what we love!). We go back again to 1998, this time for the Redskins and the Raiders from a rainy Oakland Coliseum. The Redskins were a lamentable 2-9 going into this one, still scraping themselves up from an 0-7 faceplant. Meanwhile, the Raiders were 7-4 with playoff aspirations. Oakland started Dan Snyder's boyfrie...
2003 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs Atlanta Falcons

We go back to 2003 for the last-ever Redskins win over the Atlanta Falcons, from the then-named Georgia Dome in week 2 of the ill-fated ’03 season. Both teams were 1-0 and the Falcons sure looked headed for 2-0, bouncing out to a 17-0 2nd quarter lead in front of a roaring Falcons fanbase before this game turned in a hot second the Redskins’ way. Washington ripped off a 33-7 run to take control...

In salute to the opening day victory for DC football this season, we go back and revisit the last time Washington won it’s 9th straight home game vs the Cardinals. It was 1986, so back we go to RFK Stadium for Joe Gibbs and his overachieving ’86 squad against Gene Stallings’ hard-luck Cardinals. The Redskins (5-1) were cruising to an easy win over the Cardinals (1-5) before pesky penalties, who...
2003 RetroSkins Highlights: New York Jets vs Washington Redskins

Are you ready for some Monday Night Football... played on a Thursday? Whatever. We go back to 2003 for the NFL's much-hyped and painfully over-produced Thursday Night Kick-Off Special on opening night from FedEx Field. The NFL tapped the Jets and Redskins to lead off the 2003 season and, frankly, to this day no one knows why. The Jets were coming off back-to-back playoff seasons, but with their...

Moss always cooked the cowboys 😂😂😂
Darrell Green was something else... Just pure speed and heart.
No hard feelings, the Redskins were simply the better team that year. As difficult as this game was for Los Angeles, I was extremely proud of how far the Rams had come in 1983. After the disastrous ‘82 season, John Robinson got the team back on track, got in the team in the playoffs where they upset the Cowboys in Dallas.
The Miami Boyz pulled off something special in this game!
With all the talent the Cards had.... They didn't have a great coach....
Santana Moss was a monster in college at Miami and was a monster with the Skins. One of my favorite Washington players to watch over the years.
Bengals and rams lost still hurt to this day . Offense fell apart in such a cringe way
Seems like it became a faster game in the 80s. This was an intense matchup. Saints were for real. Great unis the Saints have here.
Damn Kysheon Jarrett...shame buddy
That pick six was legendary I can vividly remember my Sunday afternoon suddenly turned GREAT! I was pumped
Jim Zorn actually got MORE potential out of Jason Campbell than any other coach.
Leslie Shepard was low key nice 👍🏾
Magnum T.A.🔥🔥
Rg3 was sooo damn erratic
Ah, the good ol' days....
I remember just like it was yesterday RIP #ST #httr #httc💯♟️
As a Dallas fan I sure miss the old Redskins uniforms and that great logo.
Would you happen to have the full game recorded? I’ve been searching for it recently, but can’t find anything so far
Josh Morgan played like a stud and I didn't even remember him. A shame he couldn't maintain that level of play.
Only 4 playoff games at fedex field is crazy 😢
What I find really funny is that the eagles never allow opposing fans in their stadium but I swear there were a ton of redskins fans there in Philly than i thought
Sigh....it's tough to see the stadium so full and with the classic logo. Hopefully this new regime with Jayden can bring some life back to it all.
Love those old school uniforms
Man, I remember crying tears of joy at the end of this one.
Alfred Morris could've gone on to be a Hall of Fame RB had Jay Gruden not taken away his carries for literally no reason.
This is insane and makes me feel so old. Redskins: 82, 89, 59, 10, 91 all coaches or media personalities now Eagles: 25, 59, 10, and probably more I don’t know off hand are all media members or coaches now. This wasn’t even THAT long ago.
When Theismann was on honestly, my opinion, there was nobody better and yes, I am a Redskin fan, but I’m not throwing shade our way. I’m old enough to appreciate the glory days. I’ve been a fan from birth. Tell death yes for the last 20 to 23 years they’ve been horrible, but if anybody knows anything you can thank Mr. Snyder for that, he knows he did wrong. Why do you think he lives in London now because every Redskin fan wants his nuts on the shelf he destroyed one the most colorful franchises in NFL history not only was he a horrible owner. He is just a very bad person. He does bad things and he thinks that he is above everybody even feeling entitled I’m guessing. At first when he bought the team and then we got the stadium. It seemed everything was in place to keep on going after old man passed away, but I can say for the first time since Mr. Cook left us. I feel that we have the right people where they should be we have football people where football people should be, not a bunch of men anyway Theismann in his prime was a fucking awesome quarterback and just take a look at RFK not a better place in the league to play a game
Man I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you for these videos
You just did!
Season on the line, almost blow the game. It's the Washington way. I'm 32, been a fan all my life, and have only seen them win a handful of games comfortably. The rest of the games have been heart attacks or losses.
Or embarrassing MASSIVE Ls 😅
lmfaooo this is hilarious, same roller coaster every year
When you look at how bad the roster was for this team, I would say it was Mike Shanahan's finest coaching job.
He and Kyle got a sprinter pretending to be a quarterback, a 6th round running back, a receiving core that was without a number 1 option for half the year, and a mid tier defense at best to a 10-6 record. He honestly should have won coach of the year in my book.
@raymondsmith2040 Damn the disrespect for Robert is wild. I understand his career turn out like expected but his rookie year was very impactful. I don't know many sprinters that can throw for 3200, 20 tds with 5 picks. With missing 2 games in NFL.Along with Kyle helped bring the read option so well to league that it's still used today
@toryou6 I never said he wasn't or the season wasn't impactful. Was Robert a great athlete and could he throw the ball? Of course! Anybody with eyes could see that. But the fact that the only time he was successful was in that offense proves my point. It takes more than physical talent to play QB. It's the hardest position in sports for a reason. Robert had QB athleticism but not a QB mind or intangibles. That's why I said what I said.
He pretty much had the same roster 2 years prior to 2012. Managing 5 and 6 wins. Wonder why he improved so much in 2012?
@toryou6 he only managed 3 and 4 wins and that's because he openly said he didn't want to run the offense that made him successful in 2012. Are you a true fan of this team? You should know this by now.
Disappointing season just like 06😞
brilliant vid. only nitpick - announcer is thom brennaman not burkhardt
Correction made! Never sure anyone does the reading.
I just recently discovered this channel and I greatly appreciated what you do! My dad was a massive Redskins fan (I'm a Dallas fan, please don't hold that against me lol) and he passed away last year, but he would have absolutely loved this channel. Keep up the great work!!
You should get Redskins-Eagles in 2015
We will if the copyright gods permit
Whew Walter Bubby Brister era ! Highs and lows post Bradshaw and Malone...defense still amazing
Do you have any 2018 games by any chance?
Of course, but YT doesn’t always allow them to be used.
Going from a Native symbol (Redskins) to a patriotic symbol (Commanders) is ass backwards.
The main problem is that Commanders is just an F-tier name. It's so boring and generic. Less people would be upset if they went with something cool like Warthogs, Redwolves, or Warriors.
Should have went with the Redwolves, Warriors, or Admirals
Warriors or Redhawks.
I suggested Generals as a play-on wording of General Washington. Something at least clever.
@@raymondsmith2040 still patriotic. Which makes no sense due to the old name representing a Native.
It will always be Redskins you can’t remove history
Redskins Say their name
REDSKINS!!!
Thank you for all your highlights of my Beloved REDSKINS!!!! And yes, it will Always be the Washington REDSKINS!!!!! To hell with those whom have never experienced and lived the special bond REAL Washington fans had as a REDSKINS FAN!!!! HTTR 4 EVER!!!!!!!
RIP ST21
I went to this game with my Dad! Happy Fathers Day, Pop!
We had a thing for signing old jet players. Lol
Noll should’ve went for it on 4th down instead of kicking a field goal to go up, 29-20. Young team, on the road versus the champs and need less than a yard. House money at that point of the game.
half of the plays wouldve been roughing the passer or unnecessary roghness in todays football ..miss the good all days
I couldn't believe how mf unprofessional and sorry the browns players were corny childish players
Love my skins
‘88 Sigh. That was my first full season as a Redskins fan and I remember there were such high hopes for a repeat. It was a frustrating campaign on numerous levels. I suppose Doug Williams earned the right to be the franchise quarterback, but he was erratic all season, and the defense was porous and often susceptible to long gainers. I suppose the most positive way Redskins fans can reflect on it is as the beginning of the build up to the ‘91 juggernaut. I’ll never forget how depressed I was when they lost to Cincinnati in the final week. Something about finishing below .500 turned my 7 year old brain despondent.
#HTTR 💪🏿
