This was the FIRST game I ever watched as a kid moving to Herndon while the house was getting ready to move in Clifton. I was 7 and came in just at the right time to see the Redskins put it all together that year.
And Detroit still went 12-4 on the season and was the No. 2 seed reaching the NFC Championship game, who'd they lose to? This very same team, in the same venue. Redskins went 14-2 on the season and scored 485 points while only allowing 224 points, 1st in Scoring 2nd on defense, the Eagles that year is the only team that had a better defense but they missed the playoffs at 10-6
The Lions, nay, the entire NFL ran into a buzzsaw that year in the form of the braves on the warpath. The perfect storm of a team and because of the onset of free agency 2 years later there will never be a better one. Hail to the Redskins! Imperishable Shame and failure to the safe spaces (“commanders”).
I can remember jus about everyone thought Detroit would beat us in this season opener...Because we were 1-3 in preseason..It's laughable how your judged from preseason
I remember clearly how people were panicking over the preseason, fans, media, even Mr. Cooke, it was crazy. But watching those preseason games, we saw the first team offense and defense dominate anyway.
I’m not even a Redskins fan, and the ‘91 squad has a case for being the best single-season team ever. The Hogs were at their best, the defense was rock solid, and Rypien was in an absolute zone that year. Yes, I think they could even beat the vaunted ‘85 Bears.
Hail, to the Redskins! Hail, Victory! Braves, on the Warpath! Fight! For old D.C! Run or pass and score we want a lot more! Beat ’em swamp ’em touchdown let the points soar! Fight on, fight on, till you have won Sons of Wash-ing-ton, RAH! RAH! RAH! Hail, to the Redskins! Hail, Victory! Braves, on the Warpath! Fight! For old D.C!
I remember watching these gamers when I was a kid. I was in 8th grade for this one. Never was nervous, I EXPECTED them to win and they did. It's almost like a curse growing up like that now to watch the politically correct expansion team commanders stink it up every Sunday.
@ definitely not stinking it up. This was written before the season started and I didn’t have high expectations then. I’m pleasantly surprised. BTW- it’s now 7-2.
A great time to be a Redskin fan. Miss those days.

41 -10 in the championship game
@michaelleroy9281 thank you brother
An act of real class by Joe Gibbs to kneel it at the goal line.
Agreed.

This was the Redskins when they were at their height, can't wait for Josh Harris to make them this great again.
Have you guys seen the team this year? There 5-2 and in first place

GIBBS ALWAYS used preseason to judge talent, so it wasn't about having a winning pre season.

I love how the Lions D is high fiving on tackled after a Skins 1st down.

totally agree. For one season they were in a zone. Amazingly they allowed only 9 sacks the entire season!
Redskins are awesome great logo uniforms we beat em in 83 sb but i always saw them as an elite team as a kid
This was when Washington was a powerhouse.... Cant wait to get back to this
@@jpsix9939 uhh don't know if you have noticed but we are 6-2!!! If they play the way they have so far this week 7-2! (NYG) This week

In my opinion, Brian Mitchell is the best kick returner in NFL history just look up his stats should be in the hall of fame
As a Lions fan, why did I watch any of this?😂

The Lions didn't win in Washington until 2013
Technically not in Washington.
HTTR ❤
Why was Barry not playing
Just like 2023. In 1991 the lion were massively overrated and lost when the faced a good team
