@@LWGMedia honestly maybe next year. Two kids and a masters degree to finish. Thanks for watchin big guy
What was this era of lombo like compared to now?
@@blockmanfries5637 early 2010s were crazy. I had a sesh at my high school of 1800 kids with like 50 people and would regularly show up to skate hills on a Saturday without contacting anyone and there’d be 20 skaters
The rake does NOT affect lean/turn ratio - for a given single axis truck, the lean/turn ratio is fixed. For the trucks with positive rake, when you lean, the height of the truck will be lowered, so the gravity will help you apply more force to the hanger to lean/turn, that's why it makes you feel the truck turn more.
@@kaiyuan-wang not sure I understand how the trucks height becomes lowered
@@hopscotch6596 I should have put it this way: the deck will be lowered. changingangles.com/2019/07/15/rake-doesnt-change-axle-turn/, the animation illustrates how the deck moves vertically while the truck is leaning/turning. The handling of a bicycle works in a very similar way, www.renehersecycles.com/trail-does-not-make-a-bike-stable/
*Great description, Leverage is everything* 👌🏽
12mm rake, I rode calibres, among other cast trucks, for the first couple years, k3's for 7 years and trimmed k1's for 5 years. ZM-1 is cheat codes.
Really enjoy your content bro!
@@MrSubZer05 thanks buddy 🙏
little fun fact on the daisy concave, it was based on the mini/super shaka mold
@@raealcoriza2549 Shaka is such a good og freeride deck
Daisy and Roxanne are top tier imo
Lacey v2 is the best top mount of the 2010s no competition do not argue this
S9 dead stock lore <3
this is a highly desired video
its so sad only some of them have the fiberglass
Kind of a weird choice. I just watched a video on the bomber and learned those three boards have three super thick ply's of maple instead of thin ones. Never seen something like that
new haircut kid
sector 9 bomber is top tier bud, the w in the front is only at the very front, there is a flat section for your front foot farther back, the w in the back is very comfortable. Im still riding my 2014 bomber that i got in 2016, with a 48/33 split on 150 mm hangars on its shortest 24 in wheelbase. Im planning on taking it to maryhill this year, its just a tank, none of my other boards have held up as well. It would be great to see companies make boards like these that arent 500+ dollar descent decks.
@@skyleradcock1175 true on the durability. Only boards I’ve seen as strong as dhd is pantheon and rolling tree. Tanks. What’s the purpose of that front W? Like a footstop?
the W on the bomber is so intense
@@hopscotch6596 Yes the front w is kind of a wack front foot stop, it works(poorly), but on its shortest wheelbase with baseplates that have shorter mounting options, you can get right on the front truck- on the flat section- with a footstop.-avoiding the lovely failed invention that is front w. and thats why i love my bomber , its perfectly imperfect. im Honestly a huge fan of its rear extreme W, and its flat- no camber- no rocker mold. its taken me from where in 2016 i started DH to going to maryhill this year!
I'm real late here, but I messaged S9 on insta a while ago and they're relaunching their DH line this spring. You may have seen posting about it by this point
For me the Ginger and Daisy are top tier. That second gen Roxanne was ideal too. I didn't like the Arrow much for that deep concave and the weird front W bump. But the Ginger construction was similar to that of the Earthwing NLS with the crush welded carbon. It's a big board but it skates like it's smaller. The second gen Lacey had insane foot destroying rear W I recall. Fun fact: The Daisy is what Byron was riding before going to Powell, and his pro model likely drew inspiration from it.
That Ginger on alphas was a monster in TN
@@hopscotch6596For real it was really in its element there. I'm trying to get to that area in October for that big event I've heard about, can't recall the hill it's on though.
Calling Saul now bud. Your goose is cooked

Focusing on the upper body counter rotation has helped me so much. Thanks for the vid man, one of the most helpful I've seen
@@greenoli hell yeah dude, glad youre gettin it
Any thoughts on the Sector 9 downhill series?
I have a few hot takes on some of them but they’re overall great. Not overly complex concaves and with iconic shapes. Probably pretty out of date wheelbase wise, but still great
Did the block change the mounting angle for the rear truck?
Nah the underside of the deck is still flat
@@hopscotch6596 oh… duh
@@sharkyj1796 no worries
Bravo
The fucking RUclips algorithm brought me to a video about myself, how peculiar is that
Dude, Paris rake is 3mm. And lots amount of cast is same. Very small amount of cast is slightly bigger.
rlly good!!
How long in inches did you end up leaving the finished deck? I’m thinking of buying this exact model diy board haha
I wanna say it was about 38-39. I have since cut the tail off and reshaped this board. It’s now about 32inches
@@hopscotch6596 ah nice! I was thinking of making a board like the gonz’ beemer with this model board but don’t know how long I should go lol 😆
This was a nice project. I don't have any experience with torque blocks, but would think it would be better if it extended a little further toward the front..? It looks a bit short to me. Have you got to skate it /how does it feel?
Yeah I skated it a little bit. It'd be better if it was a little taller and was about an inch forward
@@hopscotch6596 cool. Good job putting in the work and gathering experience 💪
We need a follow up video for your DIY torque block board 👽
Basically, it's worked really well but the lack of ability to move it is pretty tricky. The block sits a bit too far back right now and is a little low. I might just add more plys on top. I also have only skated it like twice so I gotta give it some more time
Muito legal assistir as etapas! Adorei a escolha jazzística para trilha sonora! Super cool!
Obrigado por assistir meu cara!

very good, my fave is the smile/ visual stoke at the start of run.
hey heh?
Rake : Is the distance the axle is off the center of the hangar, where your bushings meet. This measurement adjusts the angle at which your wheels turn. Think of it the same as a car turning vs a bus turning. Rake adjusts this ratio WITHOUT adjusting your baseplate angle. This is key due to the baseplate angle defines how your hangar actually rotates on the baseplate. EX: 35* rakeless vs 42* with negative rake = the wheels turn at the same ratio but the hangar response and rotation is "slower" on the 35* rakeless truck
Rob Mcwhinnie and Jacko Shapiera are influential Aussies shredders and 2 of my favourites. Honourable mention -Jm Duran, the Yuppies, Levi Hawken and Byron Essert the goat IMO
All worth mentioning for sure. Byron could've swung in on a few of the middle years
Can I use negative only for the back truck ? Sounds logical isn’t it?
I see racers do this but I don't fully know the results of full neg rake. If you're wanting to apex corners, the front should still be pos rake
I want to love Rocket. My Micro is sick but the carbon top deck ripped off when I peeled my torque block off, and it's not sealed at all so it grew tons of mold after one slightly moist ride. I had to relaminate it with new cabon after treating it with some anti mold chemicals. For the price, a little bummed.
I've heard of some quality control issues they've been having. That's absolutely wild that your carbon ripped off though
Hot Tip: Put stiff foam UNDER a transverse 2x4 chunk so that the plys get pushed down into the concave.
The run cam follow footy still stands up. The #outnow sticker still stands as well. Wish you were there this last year to document the money line being smashed by yours truly and gromlin on his buttboard.
I was dying to reverse my stance and start over from the beginning due to an ankle injury, but now I'm only a few steps away from the toeside check. The video is concise, relatable, and really easy to watch, so I wish you would make more tutorials like this. It stands out because it seems different from other channels.👍
Wow thank you so much! Glad I could help. When the weather gets warmer, maybe I'll give these another go
Oh Gawd i'm in the engineer catagory.😢

It seems the filmer you mention isn't using DV out from whatever DV camera they have. Probably RCA out which definitely adds to the washed out look
Interesting. Never considered exporting media differently to change it's image
Only people that don't have a descent board put it in category C . The build quality is insane.
I've got 2 rayne darksides , absolutely fantastic boards.
*Yewwh!* 🤙🏼👌🏼👌🏼🤙🏼 I love a mellow kicktail for leverage on turns on my shortboard, and miss it on longer decks so torque blocks are great 👌🏼 Nice to see somethin different that has similar benefits.
Rayne is so dead now, makes me sad
Borderline not even including them in these discussions

Re Aussie brands Riley O’toole has just started (officially) a skateboard brand with his partner who’s a graphic artist called Holy Crap. Very cool graphics and Riley makes a great board.
Loved this video, as always. There have been some great Australian board brands over the years, in particular Glyde Longboards, Daddow Skateboards, Early Skateboards. Recently a downhill skateboarder/videographer started a board company named Holy Crap. Check them out, maybe if you do another one of these videos for smaller brands you could include them.
Pretty good name. I’ll check em out
