    I Feel like Patrick switzer would have deserved a spot somewhere in the early 10s
    2016 was pretty wild, i'd have thought of someone between Domi Schenk, Carlotti, Patrick Lombardi or Ian Frere.

    • @hopscotch6596
      @hopscotch6596  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I could see switzer in there. I dropped the ball on putting him in the honorable mentions for sure. Not sure what the other guys were adding to the DH scene during there time that wasn't already done

    • @Gubbel
      @Gubbel Год назад

      @@hopscotch6596 yeah it felt like half the people on the list wouldn't have made it on without switzer. But he also doesn't really have a year where he peaked, more like a 5-10 year span.
      To me the 4 dudes were the last ones to push speed, precision and consistency in standup slides. Basically doing competitive race lines on serious hills with no hands. been pulled off by a couple riders since, but before them it seemed like there was a speed limit for toeside at least.

    • @hopscotch6596
      @hopscotch6596  Год назад +1

      @@Gubbel Yeah true about the precision of standup slides. I don't know if it was enough differentiate from James Kelly's contribution but I could see one of them taking Toti's spot. Switzer could definitely be a contender for 2013 or 2014

    • @Gubbel
      @Gubbel Год назад

      @@hopscotch6596 True.
      i think it's a similar dynamic between James and (for example) Dominic like with Ethan and Toti. Similar direction just a bit more extreme.
      There was a lot of Talk about standup full sends since short before 2010, and James was the main Name to push in that direction. There were a lot of people doing it and it would probably be it's own list with every spot ticked off after another. My feeling was that James had brought that style to a lot of roads, and these 4 got to the point of any Road on the planet.
      This year Scott and Antoine still progress in this direction but it seems like it's more a cleaning up of full send lines since some time around 2016.
      But yeah thinking about it it's probably best to give that crown to James who started and perfectly executed it first.

    I think Carlos deserves a spot somewhere. Began the era of Brazilian dominance from 2015-2018. Just as many world championships as Thiago.
    Also maybe Josh Neuman for freeride progression and the mass popularity of his videos that other downhill media hasn't really been able to replicate.

    • @hopscotch6596
      @hopscotch6596  Год назад

      Josh is for sure the longboard 'influencer' goat. Yeah Carlos is big time but I chose Thiago in the honorable mentions because he runs cuei as well

    • @zappyzane
      @zappyzane Год назад

      @@hopscotch6596 Yeah surprised Josh Neuman didnt get a look in, ditto comment below about Crunchie. Neither probably "influential" in the downhill race scene, but popularity and getting people looking into longboarding (all styles) vs popsicles i'd say they were up there. At least over in Europe / UK i'd be at the pub with my commuter board, and someone would ask questions and mention Josh and other social-media skaters.

    LBDR and Liam Morgan popped off in 2012. He first gained notoriety in 2010-2011. By 2014 Blake Smith wasn't making Comet videos anymore (the most iconic liam era) and LBDR wasn't posting at all anymore. I'd arguably switch him with James Kelly, who as a fast freeride influence peaked in 2014 with the Burn it Down clips you showed in his segment.
    coop was robbed of 2015 imo but can't deny the impact of Max and the peen board

    • @hopscotch6596
      @hopscotch6596  Год назад

      Yeah lots of the years are interchangeable. But LBDR is still around with Roger Jones and a few others. They just don't post officially. I do remember lots of local crews popping up around me in the midwest

      @KABOBkabob Год назад +1

      LBDR the youtube channel only uploaded from 2012-2013. Those early videos with liam, evran, byron, fernando, the jones bros etc. were the reason everyone made copycat crews across the country.
      Liam Morgan Danger Riding and that Caliber vid of him shot on the RED were huge at the time and both 2012. Him and Byron were the Comet team mate dynamic duo that year. 2012 was Liam's year and I will die on this hill!
