Then just leave if you’re so unhappy. Much healthier than complaining and criticizing.
In Korea, 80% of the younger generation hold university degrees. The issue in Korea isn’t a lack of skilled workers but rather an oversupply of highly qualified individuals compared to the number of available jobs. Naturally, university graduates tend to avoid physical labor positions, which leads to greater workforce shortages in these fields. As a result, many foreigners voluntarily take on these roles.
Does she usually wear a ring in her nose? Koreans are very square about that sort of thing.
Hah, Cali says Korea gets romantized... that's Japan for 1 and 2 most people forget Korea even exists. You ask anyone even where Korea is and they couldn't tell ya, you ask em where Japan is, they will probably say a island or the Island by China. I myself literally forgot Korea even existed if it wasn't for North Korea always reminding us. Holy shit man.
It seems like you are just a high maintenance and a complainer. Korea would be better without you and your negativity.
Nah. Nothing news. She missed out the bully culture tho. Literally, even Koreans admit those. At least them whom ever study or live abroad.
I am happy for watching this video. I plan on eventually visiting South Korea with my bsf. But me being me, I always do my research. And this video is an amazing example to not be delulu and go because of Kdrama and Kpop. Learn the reality, the pros and cons, and the culture before going to a different country. ( and learn at least the basics of the language to be respectful and will help you while visiting)
When i was in the Army i spent a year in Korea and had a wonderful time. But the secret to my happiness was that i didn't have to rely on Korean culture 100,% of the time. i did have my own place off post, and i liked Korean food. What made it great was i worked for the US Army, not Koreans. You would not get me to be under the authority of Koreans. Not a chance. I got along great with Kotean people in general. So as a member of the American military you have the best of noth worlds. i dealt with the negative things i rarely encountered because i wasnt stranded. And i never particilarly wanted to be Korean. I simply enjoyed 98% of my experiences.
100% agree that business degrees are a scam. I studied international business in Canada and I learned everything I do for work on the job.
The country's birth rate is the lowest and suicide rate is the highest in the world. That tells everything.
Im pretty sure suicide rate goes to america. Cause they kill other people and then themselves

Just leave Korea. Koreans wouldn't like a girl with nose ring anyway.
😂😂😂
Overprivileged and ur world is so much better……😢
So I feel like what you're describing is an issue with the culture in Seoul, more so than with Korea itself. I agree with a lot of your points, and that hyper-competitive environment can be toxic, and suffocating for someone who is very expressive like yourself. I'm a Korean American and I don't think I could survive that Seoul work life culture. Everyone is so stressed out and on edge, so it's probably why you find it so impersonal and shallow. That being said, I have always said that you have to experience Korea outside of Seoul. Everyone is so much more welcoming and friendlier. Anyways, I wish you the best and I hope you find what you're looking for wherever it may be. Take care!
🎉❤
My gosh, I'm a Korean who's spent a lot of time abroad to come back and work here. Everything you said in this video, is 150% true and I truly relate to it.
french is so hard! kudos to you learning so many :)

@8:25 I grew up in Berlin moved out over 15 years ago, never looked back. Still have family there, and visit regularly. If you're looking for structure (especially for well working administration) and meaningful connections / friends, do not move to Berlin. It's good for night life, shopping, having fun etc but not for living. Berlin is overpriced, superficial, and unhealthy in the long run.
I LOVE UR CHANNEL
thank you for giving so many practical ways to learn alone passively and actively! That’s what I’ve been missing and so many videos just say “I moved to that country”, “my international friend/ family member taught me,” or “I studied several hours everyday I loved it that much.” I’m like ok next who’s normal 🌚 So thank you for being realistic and funny! Also as an American, you will pass for American if/when you ever visit- your English is perfect 👌🏾
Some random algorithms brought me to this relatable video, and as a Korean, I totally agree with everything, especially the part about the lack of empathy!!! also Korea has been a homogeneous country (though not really these days) for a long time, so a diverse and inclusive culture hasn't really developed yet :( I usually don't comment on RUclips videos but I'm also in my 20s working abroad like far from home... so this felt oddly relatable and I just had to leave a comment! Thank you so much for sharing your information and hope you find a better environment for your future! :)
Leftist in the US cannot handle asia countries work ethics.
Any asia countries is very difficult to live due to socialism. Socialim and communism always fail. In the bivle said fools to the left.
I dated a Korean man for 4 years and for him specifically, lack of empathy was also one of the things we fought consistently over. He sometimes would outright say things like "Everyone else is also going through stress/sadness etc. you don't need to exaggerate it and get over it." Whenever I told him, that's not how relationships or human empathy works, he would normalize not being empathetic to others and instead just "sucking it up".
Yeah...pretty much.
I've can see parallels in my former workplace and also, having been through Chinese primary school. This sort of respect for elders and conformity stemmed from Confucius beliefs. It can be quite suffocating for there is never an open space for discussion or debate. But I was quite fortunate to have a leader that made sure we go back on time and not subjugate the staff to working late.
Je viens de tomber sur la chaîne, tu es tellement intéressante !! Tu as une nouvelle abonnée :)
Yhea I understand. I also struggled by language barriar. And Yes. Our education system too much focused 'memorized', not understanding. Lack of discussion also. Contradicting be able to rude attitude. Well, You hit the nail on head!
so basically Korea and China is the same thing🤣🤣🤣🤣; talking about working hard because they spend 12hours at the office ; if i work 3hours in China, i definetly out work a group of 5 guys who spent 12 hours in the office but yet they are always telling me that they are hard worker🤭🤭🤭
Happened to come across this video and my first thoughts are: you’re not a native English speaker?? That’s mad that
Girl you are so real!
😂
Omg I LOVED your voice and when you spoke Spanish OMG, I’m in love 💖
What were you expecting when you moved to S. Korea? You know very well that they don't speak English, because they have their own language and culture. It was you who decided to move and study in S. Korea and you want them to adjust their culture and language for you? Stop being entitled because the world doesn't revolve around you. Stop going to S. Korea, you're not other countries lost.
Thats not the point but they claim to be international and get benefits from international students so the least they can do is support them and let them get accustomed
@@Maimai-ef6feI do understand, but after having those kind of challenges she decided to stay longer. Then, she realized that S. Korea and the people were not serving her the way she expected, she took it to social media to bite the hand that fed her for years. She always had an option and choice but she stayed. And, she should stop comparing her own country to others because each country has their own culture, practices and language. She needs to respect the country where she's in or go back to where she truly belongs.
I was trying to see if it is a Pierce The Veil t-shirt 😂
I agree with everything you said. I experienced all your points since I was in college, too. Workplace culture is very toxic. Many Koreans know this and seek to get the hell out of this small piece of land filled with discrimination, which attacks even its own kind. No wonder Korea had the longest history of owning slaves in the entire world.
This is very valuable information to many who have this fantasy idea about Korea. My niece went as a tourist there and absolutely loved it, but to live there is a different kettle of fish. I have another two nieces who are talking about working there, I will forward this clip to them. Thank you.
If you're white and attractive, you'll practically get treated like a god over there. I'm not exaggerating either.
I personally like the aesthetics of anime. Never seen anime, but I see anime backgrounds on aesthetically pleasing lofi music that I like. So I watched anime for the first time ever. Neon Genesis Evangelion. I like it. I'm watching it in japanese, TL subs too so I have like 2% understanding of what's being said (mostly thanks to visual context) and that's 2% more than I expected, so it's beautiful to see. Japanese used to sound like gibberish to me, but having listened to japanese for weeks on end, eventually a month of total time (on and off), I recognise it as words now. Like, I can tell when the new words begin in the sentence (sometimes). I'm still mostly demotivated, but I still listen to it because I know if I keep going, my brain will do the rest, as it is a repetition recognition machine.
Just curious, what language do you think in? Because I’ve heard people who speak multiple languages saying they speak (language 1) but they think in (language 2) or something like that and I’m curious about it 🙂
Fake respect: compulsory outward-showing gestures of respect founded way back in confucianism. I've been told "the idea is when you go through the motions of respect, eventually you'll feel it inside." Nope. Forcing the motions of respect doesn't often create authentic respect. I'm married to a Korean.
You're so pop I love it 😻😻 and pretty Can you give me a recommendation for French textbooks pleasee? 21-31 10/11/2024 November 10th
A Korean passerby over here 🙋🏻♀️ (just for context, I grew up in Canada and have lived in 3 other countries in my life time, but was born in Korea and stayed until I was 9). Guys - just being Korean living in South Korea is an EXTREME SPORT. You can’t be ugly, fat, poor nor under-educated, PERIOD. It is a competitive society that has seen the miracles it has seen (becoming a first world country in under 20 years after several wars., with no major natural resources) precisely because it was designed this way. And that’s whats worked. YES, the older generation Koreans are not as open and behave like the red necks in the US, and yes it doesn’t have the understanding that should be extended to foreign workers… but this is also because they’re new to receiving such high influx of foreigners living in our country. Culturally speaking, it still behaves like a caste - hierarchical society where foreigners are considered completely outside that system; the only thing that will differentiate you is money, status or significant achievement. Having said all this, please rememeber that not all the people behave this way in one country. There are people like me - who have been immigrants in other parts of the world more than twice, or have studied outside or are a lot more open-minded -who understand how hard it is adapting to a new culture and language. My advice is to befriend a Korean family, who will make your life a lot easier. After watching a few of these videos, the people who say this are precisely the people who were in rather isolated environments (working in a foreign school as a teacher, living in their quarters, only interacting with students or fellow teachers on premises). Imagine, if I came to the US, lived in New York City and worked in some company where I lived in the apartments provided by them in designated neighbourhood, I would have a very different perception of the city than someone who had their own place with a roommate who was a local, went to different festivals and took extracurricular classes on my spare time and worked as a tutor in different parts of the city. The key is to ASSIMILATE in any new environment, “when in Rome, do like the Romans do” until you can figure out what kind of experience you wish to have ❤ being in a new place is not easy but it’s an experience that will make you into a richer person mentally, which gives you a tremendous advantage when you are navigating the world as a person

so it is not really attractive or international students to go to Korea - thanks for your informations - they really help to make a decision. I know how it feels to be a foreigner , working in another country, and not being welcomed at all. I was in the UK . My only friends were other international people but not brits. No need to suffer in a country which is not welcoming you. I lived through it for 7 years and then moved on to where I was more welcomed, having a wonderful social life, being accepted for who I am and what I think and speak. Seems it is in Korea the same.
Year living in Korea and I had a similar experience.. I decided to leave before I hate the country when all of these is still tolerable 🙈
that ring is a horrific life choice...
Man this is depressingly similar to the situation in my country (Japan). I’m always baffled at westerners who come with dreams of working and living there. Like girl just come here on vacations, I promise it’s much more enjoyable…
It's so interesting your perspective on your business major, I went through the same and always thought that too. In your case what major would you have liked to have studied instead of business?
