Sorry to hear about that S**ty customer, but well done for standing your ground. That's also a great way to think of it that it's a reflection on them. Check with a VAT specialist accountant, however you will also be able to claim VAT credits. All the VAT you currently pay on your supplies/expenses for your business, you’ll be able to credit that VAT to go towards VAT owed on the sales of your product. Ie. Purchase $200 worth of supplies that included $18 VAT. You will use that $18 as a credit against any VAT you owe. So the more business expenses you have that you pay VAT on, the more credit you have towards your candles VAT bill.

Raise them period. I broke it down pounds to dollars in America. And I know I don’t know squat about selling in the UK, so take it for whatever it’s worth. You should be getting more. Your accountant will advise you but you aren’t loosing 20% on your revenue only on your profit which is a huge difference. You’ve got this. It’s good that you’re growing. Keep going 🎉

Please don't take it personally, it's obviously the attitude of those people. They have an attitude problem because ppl don't have to be rude to make a point. Today a lot of ppl have a problem for every solution.

People are amazing. I work in a grocery store and once had a lady buy a pack of cigarettes. She paid, went out to her car, then came back in and asked for a 20 cent refund because the (outdated) sign on the cigarette case quoted a lower price. So, I gave her the 20 cents. She went home then drove all the way back to the store because she realized the sign on the store's door (also way outdated) said they were 10 cents lower than the price on the cigarette case door. We gave her that discount too, but good grief! Two trips across the parking lot and the time and effort to drive home, back to the store, and back home again, all for a total of 30 cents.

Its the worst when customers are like that. It sends me into a meltdown but I'm getting better at brushing the negativity off. I was in floods of tears on Christmas day because a lady was claiming I'd lied to her about my product (long story). I've delivered in person to this lady over the years and actually cared for her as such, so it came as such a shock and gave me a panic attack too. I think when you are such a caring person it's hard to brush things off so easily, but maybe these issues are learning curves for us to toughen up! Lots of love. You are doing so amazing :)

Ah I love the goal ideas, so you can look back on them through the years! I've just recently got a crystal product on Amazon but it's so confusing. Did you need to trademark your business to be able to sell on Prime? I wish I could ask someone questions but literally have nobody to ask

This video was great. I love goal setting. My business is tarot/astrology consulting along with Speaking on the subjects at national and international conferences and events. In 2024 i created a deck of cards exploring the topic of grief and loss, it funded on Kickstarter in 3 days. This year is about building on that success and launching a business to sell the deck and associated products including prints of the cards in the deck. Its so exciting and terrifying at the same time. I watch your channel because i love candles, and akways have one burning in my office, plus i think that learning skills for business comes from lots of different sectors 🎉❤

I would also like to grow to a following of 1000 on instagram and attend 5 markets by the end of the year! It's so easy to brush on and get caught up in what's next, next, next - thanks for giving me pause to actually write down some of the things that happened. Pro: Started in June! Have done 23k since Con: Overshot Christmas - fair amount in the red. Goal: 75k in revenue and drive more sales through my website. Happy 2025!

I have a lifestyle brand dedicated to Italy and I have scented candles collection as one of the lines in it. I launched my candles only in April 2024 but have already managed to sell a decent amount on my website, at the markets and also got my first retail clients! I think it's a good result for less than a year of this branch of my business. I like watching your videos and learning from you, your experience with Amazon inspired me. As my main goal for 2025 to increase my revenue with candles, I also want to start working with Amazon this year. Wish you and your brand a wonderful 2025 with lots of growth!

You've done so well congratulations! Passing the VAT threshold is a reflection of your success but it does sound stressful! Would you recommend accounting for the VAT increase early on in business, or do you think it's best to price a bit lower and wait until it hits and then raise the prices slightly?

I am working with C-3 and EU 464. I have EcoCoco since I wanted to work with the coconut wax but i couldn’t wick it, i tried all possible wicks and none worked so I gave up. I am trying beeswax now, but uh, that’s 1. extremely pricey, like 3x or 4x more expensive than soy wax and 2. very tricky to work with. I wanted to try Deluxe S16 from LLCS but it’s too expensive and shipping costs and customs clearances are so high, that’s not worth it.

I have gone back on forth with Reed diffusers however this year they have really take off so well worth putting them out there, great alternative to candles for some customers.
