Love the vid but, as many have said, the Rikiya death scene makes a lot of sense, you just have to put yourself in Kiryu's shoes. As you point out he has lost his father figure, a good but guilty man who chose to sacrifice himself. Then the love of his live, another good woman guilty of putting what she perceived as justice ahead of her daughter, who also decided to sacrifice herself. In his head even stepping foot in the underworld once means you'll never find peace, and the first two games reinforce this. Sayama, the only truly pure character she bonds with, abandons him because he is fundamentally tainted, even if she doesn't say so he does think of himself that way. Then he manages to build something that's truly good and innocent and it gets destroyed by some bullshit grand scheme without regard for the lives that get swept up by it. In all of this he makes his first real friend post prison that's not just another accomplice like Date. It's a kid who sees him as a role model and a mentor, someone who reminds him of himself as a young dumbass kid, someone who has no reason to be involved beyond wanting to follow him out of admiration. And then he dies in his arms. Now he truly believes he is cursed to see everything he loves die. Kazuma's drama is an absurd amount of guilt he can't truly process, which drives him to be a martyr constantly and yet never allows him to truly percieve himself as good just because he knows he is, fundamentally, a catalyst for all sorts of bad shit. His name is like a magnet for apocalyptic events. In 4 he realizes the only safe way to live is only having main character friends who won't die in a cutscene (lol). In 5 he tries anonymity and fails. In 6 there's a whole secondary activity based on him making normal friends, and in the end he just decides to truly disappear and spare the world all the shit that comes with him being around. I feel like it all works together, Rikiya is the very moment he realizes for the first time how cursed and shit his life is.

I just gave up, i loved doing substories, climax battles, coliseum, the legend run was very fun, the minigames went very smooth, but when Mahjong and Catfights came i wanted to k myself, what a slog, i love Mahjong but getting a full straight is such a pain, and catfights is just pure rng and pain, i tried for around 5-6 hours and i only won 1 fight, when i decided to boot and grind again i just started thinking "is this really worth?" Even if i 100% this game i'll feel empty, because most of the game completion was just not fun, now i decided to only complete what i enjoy now in Yakuza Franchise 🦆

Yakuza 3 remastered 60 fps breaks blocking making enemy tends to block before an attack hits them while the original it's pretty much like normal yakuza game like Kenzan

Platinum definitely took a while but I did enjoy most of it…except telephone club. I did give up on a few 100% things though. S rank coliseum wasn’t worth it, nor getting the last few pocket circuit parts from RNG vending missions, nor the RNG rarer equipment from dragon and tiger. Particularly when there’s no reward for doing any of that. At least in most of the other series entries you got cool stuff for doing everything.

Finally someone said the truth about mahjong. Is it time consuming and complex? Absolutely. Especially when you have no clue what you’re doing. But that’s exactly why people hate it so much. They don’t understand it, don’t know how to play, and spend hours upon hours failing and getting nowhere. How do I know this? Because I did it. I wasted hours and hours trying to brute force it in Judgement. It wasn’t until I finally forced myself to learn the bare bones of the games that I actually started getting somewhere and found it enjoyable. By the time I played this game, I spent maybe a few hours doing all the mahjong challenges. So if anyone is complaining about, or still struggling with mahjong, just take a break and learn the basics of it and how to make certain hands.

For the telephone minigame, there is another way to know who you're talking to. It is a combination of the background girl's bikini color and how fast the QTE was. If the QTE is really tigh, it's guaranteed it's a pretty girl. If you hit that QTE then you have to see what color the bikini has in the background. If you did that girl already, just hang up and try again. It's surprisingly easy to complete

The Mr shakedown thing had to be intentional. One of those things where it’s risky enough and late game enough that they probably figured that it’s fine to put in the game. Of course, the zap gun throws that out the window, but that’s not the point lol

I know many people might have pointed that out already since the video is already a year old but a thing that I learned when I played Kiwami actually is that the gear items encounter finder and trouble finder show you where Mr. Shakedown is (encounter finder) and they show you substories on the map (trouble finder) I myself only know that feature of the trouble finder because of Kiwami but it works the same in 0

Don’t know about everyone else but when I play or think about these games I have a smile on my face. Something so charming and fun about all these games.

Theres technical rifts. And then theres the message the developers wanted to send. Thats what I think is what western fans dont understand. In America making a mafia game or film with a happy ending is whatever its a game or film. But the developers faced a dichotomy in Japan. You have a game with a yakuza as lead so he has to be heroic but if he also gets a happy ending its almost like condoning the Yakuza who have basically been purged by Japanese society. So you compromise by having him as lead but also declaring that Yakuza cannot have a happy ending. Hence Nishiki, Yumi, Kazuma, Sayama, Tojo Clan (majima saijima daigo), and Kiryu himself. Even Haruka because of her affiliation with kiryu didnt end up with the best of endings. The post yakuza is not akin to the post mafia in America where being a former Yakuza in modern times is not the same as a former mafia in America. Its a cool story in America but being a former Yakuza in Japan means you cant even get a cellphone under your name.

Honestly apart from being locked up 25 years, I had though when Saejima saw Haruka he couldn't help but see Yasuko in her.

You thought Yakuza 3 had too many street fights? Yakuza 5 has so many encounters that you can finish a street fight, walk 10 meters, and immediately encounter another enemy, it was genuinely ruining the gameplay experience

I've played every yakuza game 2-5 times each. usually my initial goal is playthrough on normal and do as much as I can before I reach the end of the story. Then do a second run on legendary and do 100%. this is the one I refuse to do until Kiwami 3 is a reality. I remember first time I played it I found it mildly frustrating but the story was a saving grace. then realizing I had to beat it on hard first, got to the lau ka long fight, beat it by the skin of my teeth and lost motivation. I wanna say Yakuza 3 had a different writer than the first 2 games, thus the choice to write out characters like Sayama and having kiryu reacting so strongly to rikiya, continuity be damned. meanwhile, the writer for 3 has gone on to write the rest of the series to present day. Hell, I cant remember the name of the sub story, but I seem to recall there being a sub story in yakuza 0 specifically about this. A struggling writer tells kiryu he's lamenting a job to write a 4th film to a beloved crime series but people seemed to hate the one he previously wrote, being the third entry. kiryu and and the writers go worker eventually push him to make it as they both see the potential despite the critcs being right about certain details, which the writer agrees to focus on improving

I played the catfight maybe 3-4 times before I realized it might make me quit the whole game.

I never had that sub story problem because i do them all before i go on the main story

Haven't finished the video yet but: while the complaint about substories triggering too easily at intense moments in the main plot is warranted, I think that devs didn't even consider it happening because typical players would've activated them long before chapter 10 lol

The RNG in mahjong is absolutely atrocious. I’ve been on the Dragon Royale match for 2 straight hours and I’ve not even gotten a winning hand. The opponent managed to get a Yakuman which is ridiculous.

I will say I don't think the Saejima attacking Haruka scene is that bad cause I don't think he was considering sexually assaulting her. He attacked her to keep her from calling an ambulance and in the process ended up in a position that sexually compromised her and he had no idea how to deal with that sort of thing after 25 years in prison. While for most normal humans, we would go, "Oh shit, sorry." And be embarrassed about it while trying to move on, he just locks up in fear and confusion. It's a vulnerable moment for the guy and Kiryu doesn't intervene basically to test his character.

I liked the yakuza 0 versions of each fighting style MUCH more, but that could just be me.

I feel the story has been ruined by pretty much half the characters being part of the Jingweon mafia at some point.

When it comes to the Golden Balls section, I picked “Endless Riches” on the PS4 version and “Sexy Panties” on the PS5 version. Me and my friend laughed when I chose “Sexy Panties” because of the dialogue.

LOL Saejima's Traning was the second easiest out there, speaking from experience. The boulders just smack the thugs and get them out of the picture. You just have to look for stones that won't be broken by them and break them yourself with light hits. Hostess maker is buggy though, sometimes it wouldn't change stats untill I reload, sometimes it woouldn't unlock new dresses... Yeah.

I've played so much majong for this series I feel like I'm a pretty competent player now. Yeah majong can be a real pain if your unlucky.

Most of the time getting all the trophies for the yakuza games is a pretty grueling grind, but I loved lost judment so much I really enjoyed getting them for this game.

Yeah I beat the game on hard, and it doesn't give you the normal victory trophy which is pretty stupid. So I'll probably do legend next playthrough, since I beat 8 and replaying the old games for fun.

I think when I first played yakuza 4 I thought hostess maker was fun cuz I hadn't even completed the first girl or trophy and just dressed up my girl and left. But actually getting the trophy and completing this minigame is long and boring

I have the ps3 version so I didn't buy the remaster version but it's too bad the remastered versions were mishandled.

Yeah I played 3 on ps3 years ago and I still remember how boring and mishandled the orphanage was.
