Kiwami 2’s platinum is easily the most enjoyable yet simultaneously rewarding in the franchise (imo). Just completed it 10 minutes ago and can firmly say it was worth the time.
I give you props man, because right now I'm doing the same with completing all the yakuza in storyline order. Right now I just started 3 and so far its a bumpy ride

When I 100% a yakuza game the first thing I do is look up another person’s perspective and compare it with my own. I’ve watched your reviews of 0 kiwami and now this one. in dates you can actually skip the dialogue, it jumps right to the choices, but you can't skip again until kiryu and the girl decide to talk about something else
I can totally say that after completing Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1 alongside with Judgements on 100%, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is very easy to complete with platinum. Having a fun time with it except the toylets minigame and last 3 bouncer missions - still cant get how to play that minigame.
For the toilets first mission you gotta have your bladder around 1500-1700 points. It increases you blast way faster and you gotta match your opponent’s gauge. The second mission is make sure your bladder is maxed and max out your gauge
I think the thing with Kiryu not remembering Terada is because Terada went to be a thicc boi after the attack on the jingweon. Also if the yakuza series ended with 2 we wouldn't get Y0 and the GOAT: Ichiban Kasuga
The story for this game is something else. The only story that's better in my eyes is yakuza 7's story because of it's insanely good character writing and being the most character-focused yakuza game by far. I believe rgg studios are at their best when writing characters so to see yakuza like a dragon give so much time and space to really build the characters up is incredible. The plot is also engaging the entire way through and the way they use foreshadowing is brilliant. That being said, Yakuza 2's themes of how the past can come back to bite you in the future and the consequences of learning about your past are excellently done as all the main characters are linked to that fateful day in the 1980's. Also Sayama's and Kiryu's romance is earned really well as u said as it feels like they actually share scenes between each other and the relationship is given time to actually build. Just like in 7 the yakuza devs are at their best when writing characters and yakuza 2 and 7 show this. It's also why yakuza 4 is my least favorite game because the characters get basically no time to leave an impact on you and Kiryu is just shoehorned into the plot
That's exactly how I feel about 2 and 7. I was so impressed with the characters in 7. In 4, they really should have just given kiryu a cameo. Akiyama saejima and tanimura had so much going on and then it's just like "oh and kiryus here too"
@@chadicusprime true i feel like the time kiryu takes up could have been used by akiyama and tanimura to flesh them out a bit more as both characters are really entertaining and deserved way more screentime than they got. Saejima is fine and gets enough screentime to tell his story. Honestly i just want a full length yakuza game with akiyama as the main and only protagonist. Akiyama in 4 and 5 isn't enough for me. I need more of him
I actually got mad in this part when I was trying to continue the story and then those girls told me to help their company of there Club 29:58, but I still think 0 is the best one in the series
I personally hated the ending sequence with the bomb. After the absolute soul clenching fight with Ryuji, Kiryu finally having someone he loves not dying in him, it works very well. I can suspend my disbelief of the bomb being a bluff, but in that moment, with such a great song playing, to then just cut to credits as if that bomb *truly* went off really ruined it for me; no true reason to do something like that. And that started a trend where endings are either fined or pull some sort of stunt like in 3 and 5.
Doing this platinum right now and my god. I don’t know if it’s just me but doing the poker challenge for haruka is has me crying. Maybe it’s just cause I’m ass with poker but have mercy haruka please
The fact that cutscene skipping isnt in yakuza 3-5 this well is because of release order and the engine shift kiwami 2 and 6 run on the dragon engine, which let them do alot of cool new stuff and with it they finally got cutscene skipping right. (and also putting the heat action button somewhere you actually see the thing holy shit)

Most of the bosses with "unique" fighting styles are just using boss styles from other games and it gets annoyong because they arent designed for the Dragon engine. This are also not reused from Iiwami or 0 but from 6 because it also used the Dragon engine
Yeah, one of my biggest gripes with the kiwamis and about any game, it’s just lame and gets boring to fight reskinned bosses. Probably never gonna replay them due to that, played K1 pretty recently and just found it kinda boring and a slog. Those games have some of the worst bosses IMO, judgment not as bad but still kinda lame since it only has 4 unique bosses.

The content from Yakuza 0 and 6 is cool but doesn't really do much for people who didn't like it in those games. K2 is still a good game tho, nice and accessible
I played the original PS2 games back in the day, and since i never bought a PS3 (or any other after it), i picked up the franchise again when it dropped on PC. Kiwami 2 rules, but there was something you forgot to mention (which is understandable if you haven't played the originals) - the cut content and creative revisions. The first thing i noticed when playing K2 was "wait wasn't there a scene with Sayama on a huge ass tower in Sotenbori?" and i remember the song in the last scene on Kamuro Hills was Silent Night and not some J-rock? So i came across a video that documents all of these changes and for the most part - they are better in the original, which is a shame, because they were pretty much fixing something that wasn't broken in the first place

Kiwami 2 is very good but the story didn’t catch me a lot but that final scene with that music and the bomb ticking is fucking awesome. I’m a zero fan for me the only flaw of that plat is that you only can experience that amazing story one time fresh hahaha

@@chadicusprime man 4 is nice and easy to plat, but 100% might take a toll on your mental health since all the fucking ass pool is there and pachinko also you need to clear the game a minimum of 3 times since there is trophy for normal mode and legend only unlocks after beating on hard. Y5 it’s being such a nice experience, it’s very similar to zero graphic wise but the missable weapon items are being kinda stressful. In 3 climax battles komaki is such a bitch hahahahaa he is fast as fuck boy. I don’t know why but in our last comment tread my comments were not registering so I was waiting for you next video for us to discuss yakuza platinum shenanigans hahaha also in 3 the hostess boring that you mention in kiwami 2 is his peak since you have to max out fucking 10 hostess

Maybe it's Stockholm syndrome lol but I actually hated 3 my first playthrough, but completing it gave me a serious appreciation for it even though most of the mini games are completely busted. I was struggling so bad just beating Kanda majima Andre and mine back to back so when I got to the final boss rush I actually beat it on my first try. I spammed all the weapons in my inventory and did the essence of rolling every chance I could get to cheese komaki haha he's still the only boss I have no idea how to fight. Yea, I'm not sure if 4 will be worth it to complete, on one hand, I already completed the same broken pool mini game, but on the other, I've already done it once so maybe it won't take me too long. Have you finished the story on 5? It's so long but I loved it. It's my second favorite so I'm hoping completing it doesn't ruin it for me
I just completed Y6 plat and it was my first yakuza game and really enjoyed it. I want to try to platinum Kiwami 2 but I’m worried it’s going to be too tough?
The "story" part is 50% ryuji goda and 50% majima, which is split 25/25 in base game and dlc. So basically, you didn't like the trash story this game had, what you liked is the 2 good parts of it - Goda and Majima. Everything else was shit and ngl, I was actually expecting Terada to be alive at the end. Every bit of the story was incredibly predictable and poorly written (especially the part where Goda is the baby, that shit was obvious from the start), with around 8 chapters being dedicated to Sayama, a character I felt 0 connection with and shouldn't have existed. The only reason the story is excuse-able is because it's 1:1 with the original's story which was written all the way back in 2006/7. The majima part is clearly the shining jewel of this game, though it was written for the remake specifically and wasn't in the original, thus why its so good. The dates... I literally watched videos on my phone while waiting for them to finish talking, then followed a guide for the correct answers. Was boring asf, but whatever. Shoulda just made it skippable. As for completing the game, it feels like completing a ubisoft game, but without the hundreds of collectables and "only" a 100 side quests to do. Nothing special, certainly nothing amazing. I have to say though, it's definitely the "least" annoying one to complete out of all Yakuza games.

The RNG in mahjong is absolutely atrocious. I’ve been on the Dragon Royale match for 2 straight hours and I’ve not even gotten a winning hand. The opponent managed to get a Yakuman which is ridiculous.

The RNG in mahjong is absolutely atrocious. I’ve been on the Dragon Royale match for 2 straight hours and I’ve not even gotten a winning hand. The opponent managed to get a Yakuman which is ridiculous.
You know I love kiwami two but I think the original is so much better
I definitely need to play the originals at some point
