Wow, what a video! By far the most cinematic CM video I've seen *and* it stills keeps the strategic level relevant and easy to follow, a combination I honestly didn't think was possible before I watch this video. Again and again you produce videos that contend for "Best Combat Mission video of all time", showing that the earlier ones weren't flukes or one time things, and that is impressive way beyond what I can convey here, so I'll leave it at that. After you give yourself a pat on the back do share and advertise this anywhere you can, this is the kind of videos that can make people "blow up" and go "viral" if they're willing to really put it out there anywhere they can, and you will inevitably make it if you keep this up! Thanks for the very kind words, I appreciate it! And I'll take a look where people might be who could be interrested in videos about our niche hobby 😊.
Love how your videos always combine the tactical element and explanation while having the cinematic pecies. I would like to imagine the ballsey tank commander lead his platoon to try to stop the BMPs from landing but quickly found himself outnumbered.
Then I've got good news for you: in my next video, there is a very ballsey tank commander that is also very outnumbered... but giving a hell of a fight! Thanks for kind words!
Your videos fit so perfectly alongside a very small cadre of CM players who make very stylised editied videos. Can't beleive this is only part of a handful of videos you have on the game. Brilliant stuff, music choice for some of the more spectacular scenes is just spot on.
Soviet tactics at its finest. You acted faster than anticipated by the Americans and keep the initiative the entire time. Is a text book operation really but is still very interesting.
True the Soviets have a undeniable advantage but the first crossing with the transport was brilliant and something that I wouldn't have thought about soo you should give yourself quite a lot of credit.
Interesting and informative. Excellent battle field automated stimulation from field maps from that 1940's era. Making this video more authentic in relation to battle field terrain.Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Good estimations positive and negative. With different types of battle field scenarios.
Excellent! Thank you for first selecting a scenario developed in depth (map and force selection, particularly the artillery - although it would be interesting to see a scenario variant with a little more substantial American opfor, say, a reinforced mechanized infantry company with a tank company (+/-) on reinforcement) by an expert on the period, and second, not only taking the time to research Soviet assault river crossing doctrine, but taking pains to represent the doctrine in scenario game play. Very informative, and well done.
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback! I'm under the impression that all the scenario's in the base game are well researched, but Combatintman's experience does indeed sell the authenticity.
This was awesome. Extremely in-depth and immersive. I much prefer the CM videos that are more cinematic and feel like you are watching an actual battle take place as opposed to the other CM videos I've watched where the player painstakingly goes through their each and every move.
I didn't notice the discord sound while editing as I kept thinking that I got a discord notification... When I noticed that it was actually in the video I didn't bother removing it because... who was going to notice, right 😅. Glad you liked it!
Thanks man! I appreciate that. I'm about to upload a new video within the hour or so with a slightly different approach but I hope you'll like it as well!
I must say, I always have 3-4 CM games going at a time and I always look which battle has enough interesting stuff happening to make a video about it - but the battles with Megalon are my first choice as he keeps creating these very cinematic moments 😄.
Excellent video!! I appreciate all the production work that you do so well, especially the foreboding and sinister music accompanying the first Soviet crossing. :) I'm looking forward to seeing part two.

Great video. One of the best CM videos I’ve ever seen. The fact that you went back in a hot seat game against yourself to test the “rush in” strategy was above and beyond. Bravo!
Ah, missed your comment at the time. Thanks! Yes, wondered if I had escaped carnage by his unlucky timing so I really felt like going back and testing this. One of the great things of CM is researching what ifs, isn't it 🙂
Such a good battle report. Intrigued to see the other POV. The tank rush was unfortunately mistimed, and made great use of your own smoke. But must have been terrifying to see unfold.
Yes, suddenly there were four tanks storming through my lines and you never know how the combat mission gods are going to screw up your day this time 😁. Relieved that it wasn't too bad.
Another truly great CM video! As “usual” with you, the production is top-notch. But, I really appreciate the extra effort into background and the testing of potential alternate outcomes. Nice job with the unexpected, intel-gathering move using the available transport.

Great video and editing. Right up there with some of the best I have watched for combat mission games. I really liked how you captured some of the scenes from above and it really felt cinematic overall. I really hope you keep making more like this. This battle looks quite big and I noticed you had shaders and shadows on. Is that just for recording or do you play with them enabled? The game for me just doesn't handle them well and can get low mouse response and flickering shadows along with a noticeable drop in fps. Thanks.
Hi, glad you liked it, and I'm certainly still 'in business', next one is coming along well! I usually don't really notice shaders/shadows while playing so I'm not even sure if I always have them on... The shaders don't make a very big difference, imho. @@FreeWhiskyThe Americans actually have to use combined arms more than the Soviets do because a mechanized infantry company has to use the absolute perfect placement of dragon teams and law infantry and it's m13s have to be as scared as fugitives taking pot shots and then duck behind undercover because they can't stand up to their counterparts. But truth is that's the awesome part of this game's years of 79 to 82. Most of the simulations of the Cold war have it right in the mid to late 1980s where the Americans have. @@FreeWhisky Ah! Makes sense. Yeah those DIA reports are useful, but also pretty imperfect. Great video, but should the attacker be allowed a TRP ? As the Soviets are attacking into US territory, would the Soviets have the ability to accurately target something they have no direct line of sight on, as in a TRP ?
Well, yes and no. The way I see it, a TRP is two things in Combat Mission. It's just that, a TRP, which is a markpoint that you know your distance and direction to. To set up a TRP you would indeed need line of sight. But in Combat Mission it's also a pre-planned fire mission of sorts, which is a different thing. Which you can very well plan in advance with just a map. In real life, the guns could be able to fire without first going through the adjust fire procedure as they do on a TRP in Combat Mission, if they succesfully went through that procedure on another nearby target. Let's say that Combat Mission has, understandably, abstracted some concepts and procedures 😉.
