Ya know, Shoestring had a lot of knowledge and I like listening to his stories. So, he had made a lot of videos and I intend to watch all of them. Shoestring you are where you need to be, and it would have been nice for you to stay a bit longer. But God called you home you have another job to do. RIP Shoestring
My daughter made it through colon cancer when she was 5 and had two years of chemo. She will be 18 in July and get screened every year She couldn’t eat for a month and all she got was a saline drip. She was a fighter and still is. You can get through this thing my friend
God Bless your daughter, what a strong young lady she is!! I hope she has a very long healthy life!! I have been praying for Shoestring and I will say a prayer for your little girl too!!!
I’m good after my appointment and treatment! You are right on the timing of the recovery process I was 76 and it i am good to go at 80 Bot steady progress keeps me on track!
Just here to add to the knowledge pool. I've been working for a major "National" railroad from Canada for 24 years. The switch machine you showed is actually an electric lock. It doesn't actually throw the switch points over on power. It's just a hand throw switch lock that protects the point gap incase the adjustments get out of wack. The dispatchers would see the switch not locked up, and not be able to get a train in there by signal if the gap was greater than 1/4 inch on the tight closed point. We install them all over the place. The switch machines are wider and consist of 3 compartments. (electrical contacts, a gear compartment, and a motor compartment). These locks are required on any siding or spur when it finally attaches to a main track. You wouldn't see one into another one and another. Only the last switch to take you onto the main track has to be electrically locked, to protect the big freight and passenger trains haulin ass. I work in Michigan, and saw your Battle Creek to Kirk yard video, and was highly amused. If I see you on a train, and know it's you, I'm not saying shit!
I have been suffering from chronic pancreatitis for 10 years. I went from 205 pounds down to 140 pounds. Very painful and I have been in the hospital over 35 times in the last 10 years. I'm basically slowly starving to death. I fight it every day. Hang in there.
*I've overdosed over 100 times from fentanyl or heroin, but I am clean now. I decided to start my own channel to tell my story and to bring awareness to the public.* But u were a huge inspiration shoestring. Hope all is well
A short cross tie, a long steel rail, Hobo Shoestring has found himself about the train yards across the continent. Riding the rods in all weather conditions even hardened train men don’t mind the diminutive little form tagging along. “ man, you’re gonna freeze to death on that brake beam,,, it’s twenty below zero we’ll find a spot in heated cab this once “ A small unobtrusive chalk mark of Shoestring rode this box is a reminder of his travels.
You're a good and genuinely smart man Mark. Much respect. You embody the romantic idea of freight hopping that grabs every single American to the core. It is part of who we all are as Americans. Most don't survive. They end up breaking the sixth rule.

I'm so happy I ran across your channel! Your beard is as big as mine! I'm sorry you're having health troubles, i have been struggling myself. I was diagnosed with als two years ago, and now I'm completely paralyzed. I've been stuck in this wheelchair for over a year, my hands don't work, my throat can't swallow, the only part of me that still works like before is my mind, and my eyes. I have a eyegaze device to type, and surf youtube. Your videos have made my last week better. I've wanted probably ten hours or more! If my hands worked, I'd order something from your store, but they don't lol. You seem like a good dude, just a few years older than i, I have been praying for you, good men are in short supply! Thank you again for taking the time to post these videos!
I'm a retired deputy from Santa Rosa County, east of Pensacola. The Escambia Jail is known as "Castle Grey Skull." It's only 2-3 miles from the CSX Goulding Yard in Pensacola (my current employer yard is next to the Goulding Yard). That place really does look like something from a horror flick. Never been inside there, but been to Central Booking and Detention numerous times across the street.

Not sure if you know this, but there are some really encouraging scientific studies and articles on how coffee is beneficial to the liver. In particular, helping to repair the damage from a night of hard drinking. It really is a magic brew. Now that you're more stationary, you could delve into other hobbies. Holy smokes, the plastic pellets everywhere... No wonder so much makes it into the ocean. Wish you all the best. ✌️
