South Western and Great Western Railway Trains at Dorchester South and West on October 13th 2018

- First time filming at both Dorchester South (South Western Railway) and Dorchester West (GWR) although the latter has only 2 services in this video whilst the former is dominated by Class 444 Desiros.
I do admit the frequency service at both stations isn't that great to be honest however like other stations never been over this year well these was another 2 more to add of new stations visited this year. Although on the day of filming it was very windy with speeds up to 25mph which did make filming on the day along with Upwey and Weymouth very challenging.
1. Departing Platform 1 is a 5 car Class 444 desiro on a South Western Railway service to London Waterloo from Weymouth.
2 & 3. Arriving into Platform 2 is a 5 car Class 444 Desiro on a service from London Waterloo to Weymouth. It departs calling next at Upwey.
4 & 5. Arriving into Platform 2 is a 5 car Class 444 on a fast service from London Waterloo to Weymouth. It departs running non stop to Weymouth.
6 & 7. Arriving into Platform 1 is a 5 car Class 444 on a semi fast service to London Waterloo from Weymouth. It departs to it's next stop at Moreton which between Dorchester South and Moreton the line is singled being controlled from Dorchester Signal Box.
After this went over to Dorchester West briefly which will feature towards the end of the film.
8. 20 minutes later and back onto Platform 1 at Dorchester South to see departing the station a 5 car Class 444 on a service to London Waterloo with it's next stop at Wareham.
9 & 10. Arriving into Platform 2 is a 5 car Class 444 on a SWR service to Weymouth from London Waterloo.
Worth noting that most trains on South Western Main Line start at London Waterloo with 10 cars although divide at Bournemouth. It departs away to it's next stop at Upwey.
11 & 12. Arriving onto Platform 2 is another 5 car Class 444 to Weymouth from London Waterloo. It departs running non stop to Weymouth.
13 & 14. Arriving into Platform 1 is a 5 car Class 444 Desiro on a service to London Waterloo from Weymouth. It departs to it's next stop at Wareham.
15 & 16. Last train from Dorchester South arriving into Platform 1 is a 5 car Class 444 Desiro on a service to London Waterloo. It departs to it's next stop at Moreton.
Dorchester West
1. Departing Platform 1 is a 3 car Class 166 Turbo with a big tone departing on a service to Bristol Temple Meads from Weymouth via Yeovil Penn Mill.
2 & 3. Arriving into Platform 2 is a 2 car Class 150/2 on a service from Bristol Temple Meads to Weymouth. It departs joining up with the South Western Mainline at Dorchester Junction and calling next at Upwey.

Filmed on Saturday October 13th 2018 on iPhone 8 and edited on iMovie.
Last time I was there the up services were a Class 33 and pulling 4 non-powered TC trailer units and they had to go past the station and reverse in to a platform that was attached to the old station buildings on Cooper St. As the TC's were not self powered the Class 33 handed them over to a REP unit at , I think, Bournemouth where they continued to London Waterloo.

I'm surprised there are not refurbished trains
South Western I know but with all the strike action going and also the 707s, 455s, 456s and 458s are due to be gone by next year being replaced by Class 701s.
Although I have seen the new livery on a 158 and it's shocking. Interior not bad but on the outside oh dear.
Really, I don't see that happening very soon. Personally I preferred SWT but there you go :-(

Lots of Class 444s and 450s have now been fully refurbished - they are all aimed to be completed by May
