A lot of people say Garou Mark of the Wolves is the best one, but i love Kof XI. Your list is very good, you took all the biggest fighting games from SNK.
I'm enjoying playing SNK games on the PS4. Just got Aggressors of Dark Combat, Ninja Masters, and Samauri Shodown 6. Last Blade 2 and Savage Reign are next.
Samurai Showdown 2 arcade was my 1st fighting game experience by SNK in the summer of 1996 in a Ice cream shop. I couldn't believe how fantastic it looked visual wise and not to mention the awesome gameplay which I had never before experienced in any other fighting game at the time that's cuz I didn't know of any other fighting games than Street Fighter 2 on the SNES.
I know this is your personal list but dude cone on, KOF 97 or 2002 definitely, yes the 99 striker introduction was awesome but nothing beats the Orochi saga. Also Garou Mark Of The Wolves is one of the best SNK fighters out there, Rock Howard, Kim Kaphwan's sons, B Jenet and more. But I get it, it's your personal favourites. Respect.
@@2dgamecity it came out '99, it just seemed like the perfect evolution of the Fatal Fury games. Its animations, TOP/healing strategy, and overall fun gameplay, to me it was the best of the SNK fighters.
Great video! I'm a big fan of SNK, specially the KOF series! I was wondering which episode would have been in your top. Really happy to see KOF XI which is one of the best of the serie. Unfortunately, people don't talk about it anymore. Also, I'm so happy to see SVC chaos in the top 3! This is I think, the most underrated fighting game.
Some of the changes I’d make to the list: Samurai Shodown 2 or 4 instead of the original. KoF 98 or 2000 instead of 11. Switch the places of SvC and NeoGeo BC. Garou MotW instead of FFS. That being said, I really liked the list, hearing about your personal experiences with those games and I didn’t know about the 2 first entries. I need to check those out, they look awesome.
If I see SVC Chaos on a list, and #3 at that, I know it's a list I give a thumbs up to! I would love it to finally be ported to current consoles (since I no longer have my original XBOX). Also, props for choosing KOF XI. It's a very overlooked entry into the stellar KOF series!
1- The king of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match 2 - Real Bout Fatal Fury Special 3 - Samurai Shodown 4 4 - Neo Geo Bettle Coliseum 5 - World Heroes Perfect 6 - Last Blade 2 7 - Art of Fighting 2 8 - SNK Vs Capcom The Match of The Millemiun (Neo Geo Pocket) 9 - Ninja Masters 10 - Kizuna Encounter
Wow!! You were 8 the 1st time you saw my favorite video game series? Make me feel old why don’t you,I remember gambling on Samurai Spirits3 in the arcade when it came out. We had a totally Japanese version. That was a great list thank you
I always loved the Muay Thai fighters in SNK games. They are always done so well. And the Shaolin Monk from Last Blade is just awesome. These games hold a special place for me as I was playing them in a very trying time. Thank god for NeoRage back in the day. Great video as always, I enjoy the more long-form videos. Thanks!
Great video bro! King of fighters 11 is also my favorite, I got a weird feeling playing it on ps2...I felt like I was playing in the arcade, the way the games engine is setup and their were always these secret character battles. My favorite SNK titles are.... Ninja Masters. Samurai Shodown 2. KOF 11 . Samurai Shodown 5. Kizuna Encounter. KOF 2000 KOF Maximum impact 2. Waku Waku 7. KOF 95 introduced me into the series
Those are some damn fine games. KOF 95 was actually my first experience with that series as well, way back borrowing the PS1 version from a friend when I was 12 years old.
Great list!! Instantly subscribed. Although 2000 is my favorite KOF and Garou my favorite Neo Geo & SNK in general fighting game, I really adore and appreciate: Aggressors of Dark Kombat; Last Blade 2 and Savage Reign. Those three are so unfairly overlooked and glad to see them get some love & respect on your list. ^_^👍 Also I wanna add Ninja Master's to the list which is another under rated favorite of mine.
favourits.. 1. The King of Fighters 13 2. NeoGeo Battle Coliseum 3. Samurai Shodown 5 Special 4. SNK Vs Capcom 5. Garou Mark of the Wolves 6. Art of Fighting 3 7. World Heroes Perfect 8. Fatal Fury Special 9. Last Blade 2 10. Savage Reign
My favorite is SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos. Play it all the time on my Japanese PS2, has some of the best sprites I've seen in a fighting game ever. I also prefer the 1 vs. 1 combat over the team based system in the Capcom developed games. It also has an amazing roster- with each character feeling distinct. A ton of fun, and I recommend every fighting game fan check it out.
Pretty good list here, didn't expect of few of them at all. Savage Reign is an EXCELLENT game that gets overlooked. KOF 11 was a surprising choice! Most people pick either kof 98 or kof 2002 um.
I discovered Last Blade 2 on an arcade emulator as a kid. When I saw the style I got goose bumps, when I played it my goose bumps got goose bumps lol. Played a lot of Fatal Fury as a kid on the SNES but I always preferred Street Fighter. Was Garou Mark of the Wolves on here? That's another game I found on Mame and really enjoyed.
I'm slowly starting to like SNK fighting games over Capcom fighting games. It might be because I havent played many SNK games so everytime I get a new SNK fighting game I play for hours and it excites me to know there are many more I need to play.
I'm shocked Mark of the Wolves was not on the list, truly stunning game. But this video will make me look at some of the other Fatal Fury games and aggressors of dark combat.
You, and I have similar experiences with the original Samurai Shodown as it was the first Neo Geo game I ever played. That game just blew my teenage mind back in the day.
I'm actually quite surprised. I really thought number 1 was going to be garou: mark of the wolves. I love hearing all the special memories you have associated with all these games. As depressing as this sounds, I've only had the opportunity to play one out of the 10 games mentioned and that is King of Fighters XI. I actually love that game as well because it has a ton of my favorite characters in the kof series such as vanessa and blue mary. I do own quite a few games on this list like fatal fury special, samurai showdown, last blade 2, snk vs capcom SVC chaos, and art of fighting but I still haven't had a chance to play any of them yet.
I was initially going to put Mark of the Wolves at #1, it's the technically superior game, but opted for FF Special instead, that's the game that got me interested in SNK and it's still my favorite.
Samurai Spirits (Shodown) is what made me an SNK fan back in '93, and I NEED to play Last Blade. This video sealed it. Thankfully many of SNK's back catalog is getting damn near arcade perfect versions on PS4 and XBOX1 thanks to ACA Hamster corp.
Very good video. I love it! It's difficult to make a list of the best Fighting Games. My personal choice are : 1- Garou Mark of the Wolves 2- Kof XIII 3- The last blade 2 4- Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 5- Samourai Showdown V Special 6- Kof 98 7- Art of fighting 3 8- SNK vs Capcom 9- Kof XI 10- World heros 2 Please let me know your opinion on this list. Mark of the wolves is really one of my all time favorite game !
I agree with this list^^Some of my favourites are KOF98 cause i beat that with no continues with Leona also 2000 cause i love Whip and Kula! Some other favs are Ninja Masters,Samurai Spirits IV and Garou Mark of the Wolves!
Hey Jim, Excellent list of SNK fighting titles that you posted in your video. I agree that Fatal Fury Special was the best that you mention about the series. They really made an impact on the fighting genre with that particular title no doubt. Nice work. Glad that World Heroes Perfect was mention as well. My personal top favorite from the series! I posted this on he Neo-Geo thread on Atariage.com for you bro. Its on page 344, post #8594 for you to view. atariage.com/forums/topic/223548-the-official-neo-geo-thread/page-344 Thank you for sharing this Jim. Fatal Fury 2 was my first neogeo fighting game on Sega in 1994 and i liked it even more than Mortal kombat. Outstanding characters, lications and especially music. Big Bear, Mai Shiranui, Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Billy Kane, Kim Kaphwan... In 2017 i've buy Sega again, but there wasnt this game in Moscow. I've buy it on Ali (China) and i was so happy that in my 36 y.o. i have it again))) My another love - KOF94. I saw it only on game automat in 1995, it was amazing. All the same - amazing characters and teams, soundtracks, locations. All remeber England team (Mai, King, Yuri) or Neopoletaln blues of Terry brothers team? Unfornutally in my oppinion ALL other KOF series games not so good. The are nice, but they haven't that spirit, and i dont have a feeling that i like EVERYTHING in that games as well as in KOF94.
Kof 94 was new and never done before so the spirit was through the roof cause the dev teams are most enthusiastic when innovating and trail blazing. In many ways its more like a celebration as they kick the doors down.
Great choice of games bro and Fatal Fury Special have special place in my heart, spent hungreds hours in arcade machines playing this game and watching how other play and when go home dreaming playing with figures imagine they are those characters, drawing characters in school(even my drawing is terrible), just this game totally blow my mind at time and got huge impact on me. I will make list like yours 1 game per series: 1. King Of Fighters 2002 UM 2. Fatal Fury Special 3. Samurai Shodown 2 4. Art Of Fighting 2 5. SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos 6. Neo Geo Battle Colliseum 7. World Heroes 2 Jet 8. Last Blade 2 9. Ninja Masters 10. Rage Of Dragons My top 3 of those(KOF 2002, Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown 2) I still play on regular bases and will never get old for me
Thanks to this list, I now really wanna try out Neo Geo Battle Coliseum (wish it got a PS4 port) and World Hero Perfect. I kinda liked the first World Heroes as cheese as it was
i own almost every game on ur list (except kof11..i dont like it very much...not as much as kof2003 that's a tag match as well)...either physically or digitally..my personal list is different but...urs is a good one...except maybe for neo geo battle coliseum....it's a bit messy, imo...but way better than that pos called capcom fighting jam ahah..that's for sure!!! xD btw fatal fury special is my favorite snk game ever and the first one i played at my local arcade in 1994...my first neo geo game...i own the aes, sfc and pc engine cd versions :P
I never quite thought about it but it’s almost as if Yie Ar Kung Fu paved the way for stuff like Samurai Shodown.. It’s almost like a hidden gem sort of series along with KOF.. I also have Last Blade 2 on Vita and it’s really nice.. I don’t really care for Art of Fighting being it’s so damn hard you almost gotta be on that Chuck Norris level to stand a chance..
Graphically I find SVC chaos far more pleasing, specially seeing how incredible capcom characters look with SNK's superb pixel art, however I agree, while still a tight excellent deep fighter... Capcom Versus SNK 2 wins by a margin in gameplay.
Wow. I did not think anyone else held KOF XI and Fatal Fury Special in such high regard. Sure, I love all the KOF games. 96 will always hold a place in my heart for being the first, 98 and 99 were the first that I got to enjoy at home, and 2002 UM is probably the best all-around game in my opinion, but XI was simply the most fun. Even my Capcom fanboy friends got into it, and we even ran local tournaments that went by the "points system." XI had the classic KOF combos, but the execution was far more forgiving and accessible. I think the only thing I didn't care for was some of the more broken characters. I'm not saying anyone was overpowered, but being as I loved Athena in every other KOF game, she wasn't so viable in this iteration. As for Fatal Fury Special, that was my first Fatal Fury game. I picked it up on the SNES, and as much as I love SF II, the first time you saw Kim Kaphwan do his super desperation move blew my mind. You never saw anything close that that insane animation in Street Fighter! Great video!
Wow, some of our favorites definitely differ, I would've had either KoF 98, 98UM, or 02 UM in mine (I do love XI, with Momoko, Hotaru, MotW Terry, Mai thankfully in the home version after not being in the arcade version, Athena, Jenet, and a few more characters, but 02 and 98 UM's have such deep rosters), and at least Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, or MotW in mine. Sam Sho 2 or 3 would've been in mine, yeah I'm one of those oddballs who loves Sam Sho 3 quite a bit. If I had to put an AoF game in mine, it would've been 3, that game really was the smoothest of that series. I do however like Fatal Fury 2 and Special as both started the trend towards Fatal Fury games being better to play, especially with how freaking stiff the original was. Hell AoF 1 and 2 were extremely tough, and the first two KoF's were no picnic in the park either when it came to having to have skill, and know when to strike for damage to be successful at them (KoF 94 had really unforgiving difficulty). As for Kizuna Encounter and Savage Reign, while they haven't done anything with the properties that is new, they did re-release both of them in a combo pack on the PS2, but it is not a cheap compilation to buy these days. Nor is the ADK Tamashii one, or the Sunsoft one with Waku Waku 7 and Galaxy Fight.
wow you aren't kidding about it being one man's opinion.. Garou wasn't even there LMAO! Besides capcom, you picked 9 inferior games to the alternatives and this is easily the worst list I have ever seen, simply cause there are better ones on the very same platform. Every entry was just frustrating me more and more, and of course I didn't give you a down vote like some did, as that's just bitchy and you are entitled to your opinion! But i couldn't disagree more. Every single title had a better alternative, usually in the very same series. ! I think this was more of a nostalgia trip for you and not actually trying to present the best fighting games to your viewers. My 2c.
A lot of people say Garou Mark of the Wolves is the best one, but i love Kof XI. Your list is very good, you took all the biggest fighting games from SNK.

Last Blade ,NINJA MASTERS (Sasuke),&King of Fighters 94
Capcom vs SNK king of Fighters vs Street fighter
Last Blade 2 is an underrated gem. You're gonna love it.
AODC is probably the most underrated fighting game ever!
I was disappointed with SamSho6 on PS4. Its just part of the SamSho Collection on PS2/Wii chopped up.

The original Samurai Shodown and World Heroes games made me the Neo-Geo fan I am today.
Really? That's nice. I got into the Neo Geo through playing KOF '97 though MAME.
Awesome list! Can you make a list of top 10 SNK fighting games characters?
I can definitely add it to my list of videos to make. :)
So much here that I didn't know about. Battle Colleseum, holy shit man. Do they have arcades in Tokyo with the classic Neo Geo stuff?
Yes, as a matter of fact they do, you just have to hunt down the ones that have a retro area. Taito HEY in Akihabara for example.

I'm slowly starting to like SNK fighting games over Capcom fighting games. It might be because I havent played many SNK games so everytime I get a new SNK fighting game I play for hours and it excites me to know there are many more I need to play.
This happened to me a long time ago after I started buying SNK games on PS2. After Capcom messed up Street Fighter 4, SNK completely won me over.
Most you listed I haven't had the pleasure but damn though looking forward to it. Love last blade thanks a lot man!
Art of Fighting's ending on the SNES is probably my fav. Fighting game ending.
Many years ago I played Art of Fighting series arcades and it was awesome!

My list:
1. Samurai Shodown II
2. SVC Chaos: SNK Vs. Capcom
3. King of Fighters 2002
4. Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
5. Neo Geo Battle Colliseum
Nice. I had almost forgot Aggressors of Dark Combat.
It's an often overlooked game but I think it's really fun.
Some unusual choices in there for sure but I dig it.
Thanks!

King of Fighters 11 surprised me, I will have to play it to see if it is really the best of the series. So far 98 Dream Match is my favorite.
I love KOFXI! I hope they port it to PS4.
Are you the guy from Classic Game Room?
My favorite is kof 98, bar none.
Couldn’t believe you didn’t add Ninja Master’s on the list. That game is a Classic.
We have like the same taste. Love it man. Great work!
Thank you!
Name of no.10 game ? Can you tell me that
Finally some love for KOFXI!
Great video
Of course, gotta go with Mark of the Wolves being the top SNK fighting game dog. The Fatal Fury motion picture was awesome!
Thanks to this list, I now really wanna try out Neo Geo Battle Coliseum (wish it got a PS4 port) and World Hero Perfect. I kinda liked the first World Heroes as cheese as it was

3) The Last Blade I & II
4) The rest
SNK games are better than shittysmash games.
Great picks! Well except KoFXI, it is a good game but it's below the better KoFs.
No love for KoF XIII? Play the steam/PC version, it makes a beautiful game look even better!
i own almost every game on ur list (except kof11..i dont like it very much...not as much as kof2003 that's a tag match as well)...either physically or digitally..my personal list is different but...urs is a good one...except maybe for neo geo battle coliseum....it's a bit messy, imo...but way better than that pos called capcom fighting jam ahah..that's for sure!!! xD btw fatal fury special is my favorite snk game ever and the first one i played at my local arcade in 1994...my first neo geo game...i own the aes, sfc and pc engine cd versions :P
The first samurai shodown is perfect
There is always 500 people or more in the Fightcade KOF 98 lobby.
I love Beat em up games so i have to admit, Burning Fight is my favourite.
SNK games are the hardest games you'll ever encounter they make dark souls look like a fucking kindergarten preschool game i shit you not
Samurai showdown was in my local vhs and video game rental
Place. I put a lot of quarters in that shit in 93
I was 13
My favorite kof is 94 I hate to say because it's the first one and I grew up playing it
I thought Ninja Masters was going to make it in the list. :P
Almost was, but I ended up going with GanGan for its unique gameplay and characters.
Very good choice.
Damn I forgot about World Heroes Perfect , need to be remastered
True
Agree, KOF XI is the best!
nop, kof 2002 and garou. samurai 2 is pretty grate also
Double Dragon Neogeo (Bill,Jimmy& Chen Fu)
Snk old game are perfect they effect/sound/move all greatest but problem is control are fucking hard
wow you aren't kidding about it being one man's opinion.. My 2c.
you mean Crapcom.. SNK is the best.
Nightmare@ is a bit hurt fucktard😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow this list is almost exclusive kusoge games. You ignored the only good SNK fighters
Capcom snk
DC comics Marvel comics
Samurai shodown N 1
Number 1 should’ve been real bout 1
Any Garou Mark Of The Wolves fans over here?
No Mark of the Wolves? Shame...
Exactly man wtf is this no garou?
I had FF special for the Sega cd and by the Christ the loading times were awful
That's true, but I still really like that version, feels good on the 6 button controller and Ryo is unlocked from the start which is nice
@@MadPanicGaming miss those days
SNK made the 1st fighting games with anime aesthetics. Arc System Works fans btfo.
