I think the lion knew what it was doing and crippled it first by snapping it's neck. Happy the coon doesn't have rabies, I'm sure a Mtn Lion with rabies would not be allot of fun.
That's badass I love mountain lions, it basically broke it's spinal cord so the raccoon was basically writhing around using what ever muscles were left in control until it succumbed to it's wounds.
i love raccoons, I have a few as pets. they are intelligent, fun, entertaining critters, but mountains have to eat too I guess, oh well I'm just glad that's not one of mine
Good for the cougar. That's one less raccoon that will go after somebody's chickens, someone's pet, or do major damage to a homeowner's house trying to get in their chimney or wall.
That's TRUE! Sometime in `2033 the Lion will eat straw with the Ox. And the Wolf will lay down will the Lamb! There will be 1,000 years of PEACE on this newly made over planet! Blessings to you!!

The lion was fishing with live bait hoping mom would come down and check on Jr. but mom was having none of it, she made clear about dragging your feet and being the last one up the tree will cost you some day and today was that day.
It seems mountain lions kill raccoons more out of spite rather for food. Mountain lion does the same when they kill bobcats lynx and coyotes more out of spite from the competition
A Lion Hunter in Terrel county Texas said he will not hunt this one lion who circled around and came up behind his pack and killed every one of his dogs; one at a time, which if I remember it killed 6 hunting dogs. It's a mama cat that in teaching her cubs to hunt killed 30 sheep in one night, the lion killed not for food! Cats like to surplus kill, they will kill multiple animals if given a chance. The cougar probably saw other raccoons the other way and tried to get them as well.
@@charlescxgo7629 They don't "like" to surplus kill, that implies an emotional response. Cougars killing multiple animals has been studied and it has been found that when their prey drive is hyper-activated, such as in a situation of a cat killing multiple goats or sheep, it is because the "surplus" of prey is activating hardwired impulse not callous emotional desire. Those are human emotions.
@@jaytaylor2090 This is how nature works. Sadly if the mountain lion missed every single thing it tried to catch, it wouldn't survive. It could have had cubs to feed too, you never know really! Also if raccoons weren't hunted by other predators therewould be way too many and the ecosystem would be out of balance. One of the first things I learned about nature (and I think I was about your age when i learned) was about the link between the Lynx and the Snowshoe Rabbits. Lynx rely on rabbits for their survival, so if the rabbit population is down, the lynx will die off. Once the rabbit population grows, so does the lynx population! Symbiosis! Nature is fascinating!
that raccoon was just bleeding out till the cougar came back rough life
Yeah. Cougar just backed off while the raccoon went through its death throes, then came back to collect his bounty.
The cougar was smart enough to incapacitate one Racoon and go after another one and came back to first to eat it.
Dont think that was actually intentional man lol
I wonder if the mountain light got bit. Or after the original excitement of the attack the light scared him off for a minute.
