Thank you for the honest review. I have seen so many Bullet Journal artists use these and wondered if they were worth it - the cost is almost twice when you include shipping to the UK. I'm curious - have you tried the Arteza paint markers and how do they compare?

Hey- Thanks for giving a review of the A&O acrylograph pens!
I've had many cheap brands of arcylic pens and was not impressed. So I purchased these when they came out. I thought they were great quality at first but struggled with getting the flow during use. I reached out and they were super helpful to help me figure out that they need to be reactivated between uses. Now, they are the best acrylic pens I've ever had!
I also noticed that the harder I pushed, the more scratchy it looked. When I was activating it to start I also pressed hard at first, then I figured out that a gentle push a few times got the color to flow nicely and I haven't had any problems since!
So to recap: gentle pushes to activate, activate between uses, and writing with a lighter hand for the smaller tips, reach out for help-they are super helpful and quick to answer!
    Hope this helps!

I appreciate how thorough this review is and how you evaluate specifics as well as overall value. I do not own any of these pens at this point, I am very new and so this helps me decide to hold off on such pens in terms of a huge investment. I bought one 3mm on sale, recently. Great job, thank you!

For blending, I had the same issue, girl. lol. I literally just started picking up colors with paint brushes, haha - which sort of defeats the purpose. Glad I wasn't the only one - appreciate your honest review!

I may totally destroy a blending pen, but I wonder if you can put matte medium or some sort of mixing...something in there. (sorry I'm blowing up your comment section - haha - literally commenting as I'm watching)

Haha no worries at all! I don’t know if you’d be able to put anything in but maybe wetting the nib might help? I might just give up on this blending thing lol

Temi, I love your videos!!! It’s so helpful to get feedback before making an investment. Although I did have a different experience with the acrylograph pens-if you just shake them more they work like a dream! Definitely worth it. And I ADORE the packaging...it’s like unboxing an experience instead of a product.

I had no issues getting the pens started. I just shaked them and gentlig pressed the nib down and held it there for a while and the color started flowing. I don't think you should pump them.
Thank you for a awesome video though and yes they are really pricey.
And a little tip 😉 Keep the pens in the case and shake them all at once 😄

OMG I recognize those watercolors! I got both of those under the Master's/Fine Touch brand at Hobby Lobby! I guess it's one of those cases of a generic cheap manufacturer that then gets branded by different countries. I like that tin Because it has neon colors in it!
I probably won't be trying these due to the price, but I do want to try some cheap acrylic paint markers if I can find a good brand. I do really like that last blend you did with the orange and yellow and blender pen.

Thank you for being open and honest that you are not very experienced with paint pens.. it's great to see what a new user would say about these! I would highly suggest checking out some other videos or even reaching out to Archer & Olive to see about some tips and tricks to make these work better for you.. from my experience these are pretty great!
I did notice that we didn't see you reactivate the pens much.. you need to make sure to not only mix the paint (the shaking) but to press down on the nib to make more paint flow through somewhat frequently.. and when you press on the nib be careful that you don't push too hard because that tends to make them fray and wear out faster.. it's kind of a normal thing for paint pens...
I will acknowledge that these are a bit more expensive.. but not by much that I can tell.. the 8pk of Posca paint pens (3mm) are $30 on Michaels' website right now.. so really that's not much difference, but you can see a difference in the quality...

Hi! Thank you for that review! I would definitely try shaking and pushing down on the nib to help with the ink flow. From other reviews I’ve seen, they are high quality acrylic paint pens and some of the best multipurpose paint pens people have used. In regards to price, for the quality they aren’t too expensive considering the price of other paint pen sets that are a much lower quality. I would recommend testing a cheaper paint pen and seeing how much better the A&O paint pens are! Also, feel free to reach out to A&O as they are very helpful and ready to help you! Thanks again for this video!

Yes I've seen other people have a better experience with it so I will keep trying to get my technique right. It will be interesting to compare them to other paint pens!

Thank you SO much for this! I am very new to markers, paints, drawing, basically all the art things. I was so excited to get these pens because they were presented as being easier to use than regular markers, and I was definitely under the impression that blending colors would be easy. I thought I was doing something wrong - glad to know it’s not just me! If even an amazing artist like you has trouble with them, I feel a little less pathetic. 😊

I love A&O acrylograph pens! I'd never used paint pens before and had a really hard time to get them going too, but I just shook, shook, shook hard and pressed the plastic tip down (as per the extremely clear A&O directions included with packaging). It was odd the first few times but no prob after multiple uses. I love the beautiful colors & use them mostly for doodling, coloring, and lettering. Unfortunately my biggest issue with this review is the lack of accurate use. This is a solid quality product and produced by a business run by women. As women, we need to have each others backs instead of hating on a product especially after not following directions provided to users.

I didn't bash the brand at any point in the video. I love A&O and I was simply sharing my experience with the pens. It is a learning experience for us all so I will take all the tips I've gotten from the comments for the next time I use them.

I wished you had shown this a lot earlier I would’ve told you to get you money back. Simply because it’s acrylic and the ink will dry super quick with the nib. It’s hard for the acrylic ink to get through to the nib. It’s not worth the buy

  • @happyplanningwithsparty-n-2301
    @happyplanningwithsparty-n-2301 4 года назад +1

I find it odd that you're on the design team but are so critical of the pens when you're not following the directions on the box. Surely A&O sent the team instructions and tutorials. The nibs are fraying because you're not properly activating them. What did those pens ever do to you? Proper activation is the key to a successful experience - this mixes the paint so it flows smoothly. I noticed multiple times that the nib is mostly white and not full of paint when you try to use the pen which is why you are getting streaky or scratchy results. All paint pens work this way. I don't find this review helpful because improper use is not an honest truth. Perhaps something along the lines of "A Beginner Experience with..." would be more honest and descriptive.
