I give you a lot of credit for learning Khmer. You have to remember that Khmer people do not tolerate discrimination against anyone, compared to living in the U.S. It is good that you can show right and wrong with Khmer people. Don't worry. You will find a sweet person to love since you know some Khmer languages. You have to be patient and keep interacting with women.

I was born here, There is a huge racism problems towards ethnic minorities groups ( cham Vietnamese…) and as well as colorism but it’s rather ignorance than arrogance when it comes to foreign people of color due to not as much exposure to education than the rest of the developed countries, but that does not make it okey.

Having lived in Thailand for many years I can testify that the racism there is very real. Against all forigners. As a white.. i am more of a 'novelty' racism exists but mostly not a hinderance to life.
The racism I saw against Indians, khmers, Burmese was shocking. These ppl were suitable in the country as 'servants' or labor and anything else was against the kingdom. The racism against Africans (black) was even worse. Not to their face of course but at all other levels. Including simply serving me before serving them in a shop and i have asked..."hes next not me"... they continue to serve me.. or show real contempt at being pulled up on it. Cambodians 'seem' a lot less fake... but I havent lived there to know. So i enjoy getting this videos take on it.

There’s a difference in culture that will clash with Khmer that you need to acknowledge and an example are videos like these. Even though the person being interviewed is for the most part positive, content like these would be considered disrespectful to Khmer because it’s essentially losing face. If you were invited over to someone’s house, you don’t openly complain about the food prepared or the accommodation provided. I don’t understand how Cambodians can say the smallest things against the government or voice concerns about neighboring countries and they get jail time for inciting chaos. But why when expats create videos talking about racism in Cambodia, trying to paint Cambodians with a broad brush, it’s not seen as inciting unrest?

In my country, no one care about your skin look white or black because they will know that not all people are living in the same place or the same habitat. However, most people in Cambodia think that those foreign people may be rich due they can travel or visit to another country. Also, as a Cambodian I would like to pay respect every regions in the world including both of you, too. 🙏🤝

nahh trust me, mostly old bodians they still have that narrow mindset, they call black people " អាខ្មៅ " or fat people " អាម៉ាប់ " it doesn't meant in a bad way, they still treat like everybody else, they don't call that for discrimination or hatred, it just sort of reaction in a funny way, it meant no harm.
the new generation are more mindful and open to different world, right now is the best to time to visit cambodia.

The N-word in Cambodia doesn't really carry the same weight as it is in the US or anywhere else. Just like u said, it is basically ignorance, most Cambodians think that the N-word just basically means black people. Also, it's not really much of discrimination but rather more of a curiosity. No surprise that there aren't many black people in Cambodia, so yeah haha

Sending love to good people from a Native Khmer in Mekong delta VN (Vietnamese Cambodian). We have no racism toward other ethnic/race but yes as you might know there are a lot of people from neighboring countries nearby Cambodia have been trying to distort the history, degrade the Khmer culture and legacy, they claimed it and sending distorted posts, comments. So be careful with those fake smile, I wish you all have a happy and fun life in Cambodian or any else where, lean to reputable sources like Britannica Dictionary if you want to understand the history of SEA.
