Geoff, the cooling system is about to blow up! ... not that I saw anything wrong, it just seems to be true for all beemers, especially ones I've owned. The rest of the car looks sweet though, shame BMW lost their way with the styling after this generation.
my whole body shat itself when i read that first line, then i realised... to be fair in my experience it's suspension that these like to eat. cooling seems ok but i think it's due a service!
@@GeoffBuysCars you know, now that I think about it I had to replace a bunch of suspension components on my old e46, but I always put that down to my having too much fun chucking it around on country roads. The cooling systems are one to watch though. People put cheap (non-BMW) coolant in, various bits of plastic get brittle, and then they let go on the motorway when you're 4hrs from home :( fingers crossed you got one that's been looked after :D
@@GeoffBuysCars a little. To be fair, I never had a really bad recovery situation with my old e46 (current car is another story), but I did have to get it trailered twice when the water pump (1st time) and radiator (2nd time, the plastic bit on the side went pop) let go, basically dumping all the coolant each time. 3rd time was one of the hoses, but it wasn't bad enough to dump all the coolant immediately, and I managed to baby her to a garage without overheating. If I had my time again (and had the e46 when I actually had money to pay for preventative maintenance), I think I'd probably do a total cooling system refresh not long after buying it. I used to regularly drive more than a couple of hours for meetings, so it's a bit of a miracle the bad things didn't happen when I was 100+ miles from home.
That being said though, I was probably just very unlucky; perhaps the owner before me didn't treat her so well, someone did a dodgy repair, or something along those lines. It's hard to know really. I'm sure you'll be alright 😀

Now we're cooking on gas. I've never owned an E46 and I know if I did it would just oxidize but I still want one.
how much would this sell for?
