The e46 holds the same spot in the marketplace the the Porsche 944 held 15 years ago. A cheap, fun, cool car that only enthusiasts are really hip to. I think you’re right that it’s days as an affordable daily driver are numbered.
The E46 is the best 3 Series honestly. The looks, ride, big customization market for it, and the variety of different colors you can get for this vehicle straight out the factory is impeccable. Different options and trim levels for anyone to enjoy. 👌
BMW had three levels of radios. Reverse was the base, Business was the middle, Professional was the top. Some say that the Business and Professional are phone-compatible, which would make sense. No one really knows for sure why they're named that though. Ze Germans probably expected respectable businessmen to drive their cars.
For the radio there was 3 options for radio in Europe: Base was called "Reverse" which was a radio cassette player. Middle was called "Business CD" which had options for CD stacker and bluetooth Top was called "Professional" which was a premium option supplied by Blaupunkt in europe. I've own a 2004 BMW E46 coupe for about 14 months now. Lovely little car which has aged really well. The build quality of these models is excellent compared to other cars of the time and the car still holds up really well against modern cars.
E46's, E60's, E39's E36's i6's both automatic and manual are great cars for the space, comfort, fun to drive factor and RELATIVELY low cost of maintenance/ownership, and aftermarket presence. Great cars to learn how to wrench on and care for your car while also staying classy Coming from a current M swapped 2004 525i and previous MX83 1JZ Toyota Cressida owner
9:11 Stellantis is doing it now. They're still producing the previous generation RAM 1500 alongside the current one. In fact, the only way to get a short cab and long bed with the 1500 is to get the Classic, which is the previous generation.
I just picked up my 2nd E46. I left the first one to the ex. My new one is in WAY nicer condition, but it's automatic instead of manual. But, I am not really hating that fact all that much. She still goes pretty good!! I love these cars!!
I have the same car but the xi I’ve put so much money into it… but only because it was from the rust belt and mistreated before I got it but honestly it’s been my favorite vehicle so far it’s very nice on curves and has so many accessories and features and although it’s not allot of hp it has a decent feel on its acceleration
Tourings and Convertibles almost always stay a year or two after the sedans/coupes have been discontinued. Been that way at least with BMW for the last 35 years
I got my diesel E46 for 4 years now and despite some issues I still love it! It's really easy to work on, a lot of cheap parts and mods from Japan with really low mileage on them. After putting 350k km on my car I only got 2 somewhat major repairs - I changed alternator and water pump and that's all! In a meantime I only do service maintenance. The key to keeping your E46 alive and "brand new" is to never abuse it, in my country we got shitty diesel, but only on suspiciously cheap pumps, original parts are really expensive, but if you know that MANN filters is supplying BMW/MINI filters then you can buy it almost as twice cheap and yet, you got parts from Japan, like I got my suspension fully rebuilt for ~150$ with a 10k km car parts, which is basically new.. And yes, it's BMW, although my diesel is not as powerfully as 330i or even 325, it's still very fun car to drive and more that enough for city and highway. And yes, ACTUAL fuel consumption is 4-4.5l/100km HWY - 5.5-6.5l/100km CTY 😸
They're relatively cheap. Avoid the M3 though. They're usually ragged out and are expensive. A total shitbox will run ya about $6k - $10k. Rather A base e46 can go from
Chevrolet sold the Impala Limited from 2014-2016, and the Cruze Limited in 2016 which follow the same concept of selling the previous generation along side the new generation. They also did this in 2007 with the Sierra and Silverado classic. If you look at VW in 2006 and 2007, they also did the same thing with the City Golf and Jetta.
Why all e46s reviewed on the channel is so low if they are customised they look so stock to be customised is this a mechanical issue for the e46 chassis i never seen them to be so low like that

Man, I just bought an E46 318i from 2001. 68k miles, basically mint condition and I only paid £1100 for it. I got extremely lucky as I was about to buy a Miata for £1500.

Had an 03 330xi. I miss the build quality and solid feeling of that car. Just can’t compare to the newer models.

Infiniti did that too with the G37/Q40 being sold alongside the Q50 in 2014.

Is it reliable? I want to buy one as my daily and occasionally drive it down to LA . Would you recommend?
Thanks brah. On my way to buy a 316i e46 with a 1.8 petrol engine.
As much as I'd like a 325i, I can't buy one as a beginner to FR cars.
Should get at least 2.2 engine. 320i
2:21 I really dislike this feature. Why not put reverse down and to the right where it has always been? I mean, it's not a six speed.
It hasn’t always been this way. Even e30’s and e28 have reverse in top left
The Europeans just do that as a safety thing
My old beetle did that but it was down instead of up
I guess it's a little faster and more satisfying to shift from 1st to reverse, i have an E36 and I kinda like that
Many BMW's are 6 speeds, including later run e46 330i's, and this way reverse is always in the same location across their manual cars.
Cmon man how are you not gonna vacuum the car before shooting close up macro shots lol
