Your opening, with the typing, reminds me of a sign-off that at one time I used to say goodbye at the end of emails... I've got to go now. I've got people to see and people to be. Nicely done with the music.
Please allow this 77 year old man who enjoys your videos to say I think it's pretty clear you have a multitude of quite natural gifts. Young people like you give me hope for the future. Please keep on creating.
I agree 100%. When I was her age, I hated people like her who are so talented. Now that I'm 64, I've grown and discovered my own talents. So now I admire people like her, including Lindsey Stirling, Debbie Gibson, etc.
As a musician, I really loved this song! Thank you for sharing! It immediately struck me with something I haven't really experienced in awhile that requires some explanation. Back when you made this, music was engineered for cheap, wired earbuds with very little base and limited high-end response. You absolutely nailed that engineering! I listened on my now (does math) 7.5 yr old chromebook with its speakers. It was special to hear a song made for its speakers where I could hear every detail crystal clear. Modern music likes it's larger range, and I like it too, but there's something special about the demonstration of musicality with a limited toolset. You don't have to make a big change in pitch or dynamics to strike me hard. Thank you for this song. Thank you for helping me to explore music. Thank you for your desires to express yourself and share it with the world.
What an interesting and flattering analysis - thank you so much! The arrangement is mine (as in, every note in this is mine) but I'm afraid I can't take credit for the mixing. That was my friend Isaiah, who I think was only 16 when we recorded this together. I don't know what he's doing now, but I'm pretty sure he's still in the music producing/sound engineering game. If I ever get the chance, I'll pass on your compliments!
Why aren't you a pop star???? This is going in my "songs I listen to semi frequently (high praise)" playlist. Please please make more music. You have such Hank Green vibes. Please continue existing and creating ❤
I find it hard to believe sometimes that I have the privilege to not only learn from you, but to also see just what someone who is truly brilliant can do just to distract themselves.
**THUNK....Hits floor** Speechless.. I.. First of all I've "starred" this one so I don't loose it.. A genius and musical Artist ?? And not just okayyy.. That was OUTSTANDING 👏👏👏👏👏👏 No, I am critical being immersed in that lifestyle long enough to hate it, and to know that if someone is "mehh" just not to say anything.. I.loved that. Is there any more ??? Please ? 🙏 🙏🙏
I've been watching a few of your videos recently and really like them. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra was great. I''m honestly blown away by this video. Your conveyance of the situation through music and lyrics bring backs feelings of unrequited crushes and loves that I felt so strongly about in my youth. You are wonderful! Thank you for making videos and sharing with us.
Wow, this is really beautiful! It gives me 2010 indie pop vibes. The prominent intricate piano part and the high-pitched, clear vocal reminds me of Regina Spektor. I see what you mean about it being a time capsule. I used to write and record a lot of music around that time, and since then I haven't had as much time/energy/motivation to do so. Thanks for sharing your song :)
I've said it before and know I will again, you have the soul of a true poet, you make life your paper, dear girl. The world is better with folk like you in it,all the best
I swear to everything I was listening to All The Things She Said by Tatu before this appeared in my feed. Which just feels so appropriately raw in context. 😊 Edit: you have a very beautiful voice. Reminds me of Imogen Heap a little. Edit edit: no seriously this is awesome. 10/10 would add to Playlist
Wow! I found you on TikTok and enjoyed your informative content. But this song is beautiful and (don’t take this negatively) wonderfully surprising! Bravo!
I clicked at it on my homepage, and only when I liked it and went to look at the channel that I noticed it's my favourite Friendly Neighborhood Archeologist Lesbian. That was very good.
I would be lying if I said I'm surprised by your talent. After watching countless very clever, interesting, and thought-provoking videos of yours, I already knew that your grasp of language - as music is language too - is exceptional. However, listening to this feels bittersweet... I wonder how many songs, still hidden in your mind or tucked away as demo versions on your computer, are now lost to the world, and how many future songs we're missing out on (which is not meant as a criticism of your changing priorities 😅). Thank you for posting this beautiful song nevertheless and sharing with us this previously unknown aspect of you.
So listen, just wordless! Well done, simply lacks a proper expression! Your, Coffee Eyes. What a powerful verbal expression in this context. I’m new to your content. Agree or disagree, you express yourself well. Til, later or perhaps Tuesday.
Great song and vocals, thank you for sharing! Don't know what it is, but you remind me a lot of Cobie Smulders, particularly in this recording. Appreciate this is a time capsule and this is no longer your thing, but it would be great to see more material like this. Still enjoy your regular educational videos though.
That voice.!!.. It wont be too surprising if someone reaches out to you.. Just make certain to read the fine print before you sign ANYTHING.. Music industry is NNNASTY!! Trust me on this.
Mildly amusing incident: less than an hour after I first watched this video, the RUclips algorithm brought me to the original upload on your @musicbyastrid channel. Anyway, I love this song, it's really good.
it reminds me of when, in college, one day in (computer) networking class I sat behind this guy I had a crush on, and a piece of music floated into my head. It feels weird to say, because logically it sounds like an auditory hallucination, and I suppose there's a fair point to that, but I wasn't on any substances. It was just my emotions and my time spent practicing music that came together to put something in my head. I wish I could just play that piece on piano, but it's waaaaayyyy outside of the sorta stuff I can do on a piano. Too many pitch slides and crescendos. I need to build a tech stack of sorts to make it. Maybe this weekend I'll try some digital synth software to just reproduce some of the basslines.
oh man that was so pretty! unrequited gay high school crush hit a little close to home lol this was me last year... i love this song, and the typed intro was beautiful too
I'll be real, had I been "girl" in the early 2000s and you had blasted this outside my window with a fisher price keyboard and singalong mic, I'd had let you in the window, I'd have even told my dad to get you a ladder. Just me

Fully, fully agree...
Agreed…. But… pop star could also be a bad thing…
i said she had Hank Green vibes the first video i saw of her haha, glad i'm not the only one
Oh, Astrid! Just the typed intro made me feel.
I really have so much respect for your brain.
Addendum After the video: Thank You!
I find it hard to believe sometimes that I have the privilege to not only learn from you, but to also see just what someone who is truly brilliant can do just to distract themselves.
Man 10.8/10 song, good vibes all around.

Truly, you are a multi-talented individual. I’m so glad the all-sapient algorithm made me aware that you exist.

This was really close to what I was going to comment and I couldn’t have said it better myself

This is really good, you have a great voice.
God damn, that was absolutely magnificent!
My fiance and I listen to this all the time, it's "our song"! We love it!
Astrid, it’s a beautiful song. Thank you for sharing this.
So many talents for one person. That was beautiful.

Beautiful! So far I'm loving all the ways you use your brain.
Wow very lovely song! Thanks for sharing!
This was absolutely wonderful. Thanks for sharing and I gotta say, I sincerely hope you're still playing piano and singing.
So talented at such a young age. Nice song.
…I’m not tearing up. (I’m totally tearing up) new favourite song.
Love the song, your look from the side screams a young Cobie Smulders ❤
Big love, takes guts to post original art,
more guts than I have
I've said it before and know I will again, you have the soul of a true poet, you make life your paper, dear girl. The world is better with folk like you in it,all the best
You are a truly exceptional human.
Beautiful and evocative. Thank you.
Great to see this reposted! (also love the little Bela Bartok cameo in the background)
There are those I have felt similar to. I had no musical outlet and turned inward. I couldn't express. But I could feel.
:O That was really cool and completely unexpected. I loved it, thank you for sharing.
You’re a wonderful songwriter! I felt that young love again when I heard it ❤
wow this was genuinely really good. hit us with some more decade old bangers
Thanks, this makes a pretty grim day better than it would have been.

My goodness this is pleasant. I've added this to my favorites playlists. Love the melody. Thank you Astrid!
Loved it! Aurora vibes and goosebumps. Thank you for sharing
You've got a lovely and handsome voice. I'd love to hear more of your music if you make (or dig up) more.
Wow. You could easily have went this way. Still could. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Oh no! Unrequited love! Music about it!
Its just the most intense thing!
Feelings! Argh!
Kept expecting a break into full band / drums. Gorgeous stuff.
I love this so much. Your voice reminds me of Amy Studt
This is wonderful.
This is really beautiful. It made me feel a lot of things, none of which easily translate into words
Precisely...
Fantastic!
Thank you for sharing, it was lovely.
Absolutely cute af song. Love it. Thanks for sharing this

Lovely voice.
Absolutely wonderful!
I really appreciate you sharing that. I'm having a really rough night and that was such a good song.
Thank you for sharing a part of your soul, just listening again,I felt that way for someone once to
This is quite lovely. I think though, the heart that felt and composed it really shone through.
So listen, just wordless! Well done, simply lacks a proper expression! Your, Coffee Eyes. What a powerful verbal expression in this context. I’m new to your content. Agree or disagree, you express yourself well. Til, later or perhaps Tuesday.
Holy SHIT Astrid. That was gorgeous. I love your informative videos, but PLEASE keep making music. You've got a gift there.
Love is so powerful 💕
This song speaks to me. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow that was surprisingly good, esp for you age at the time and I love that you had to write or combust, go you.

Better than top hits today.
I knew someone works say that eventually.
Awesome sweet

Anyway, I love this song, it's really good.
Great song! Regina Spektor or Ingrid Michaelson inspirations?
This needs to blow up
Very nice, indeed

hi mate, love from australia
Lovely!
This made me cry…
Pretty good
Wow.
It would make me happy if you manually updated the closed captioning for the lyrics.
👏👏👏👏👏👏 Beautiful.
When can we buy this song?
This was lovely
You have a lot of potential, you should definitely develop it. Quite good. I bet you would like Aldous Harding, by the way.
oh man that was so pretty! unrequited gay high school crush hit a little close to home lol this was me last year... i love this song, and the typed intro was beautiful too
It’s a good song
Don’t give up on this.
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Bravísimo.
The shorter hair suited you, but seriously, if you decided to make more music I would be interested in listening to it.
WOW, is there anything you cant do?
I'll be real, had I been "girl" in the early 2000s and you had blasted this outside my window with a fisher price keyboard and singalong mic, I'd had let you in the window, I'd have even told my dad to get you a ladder.
Just me
The way the thumbnail made me think this was Maggie Mae Fish.
Really splendid, Astrid. So very poignant.
notice me senpai extended version
This is so cute!
Are there more songs where this one came from?
