His sister was my drama teacher at high school. Lovely lady. I remember her telling us that her brother was the legend Geoff Rowley after me and my mates asked her if she was related to him. We knew Geoff was from Liverpool and she was too with the same surname so we just asked. We didn’t believe her at first but then a few weeks later she brought us some flip stickers and merchandise off him. She was then officially the coolest teacher ever.
Every now and again i come back to this episode and quickly remember why geoff has always been one of my favorite skaters. So sick on and off the board, just a solid guy
Thank you Vice! This is amazing. I've been a big Geoff Rowley fan since I was 12. My first board was a Tom Penny Flip board. This was priceless to hear all the history. The clip of Tom and Geoff as little kids was hilarious!
yea Rowley was a legend - id like to see them do more episodes on some key figures. For instance Mullen and his darkslides/caspers was a wild statement at the time.
Geoff is a legend and probably the biggest Motörhead fan which just makes his video parts even more rocking Those flip teams before Shane’s death were so cool especially the Sorry videos were so cool
I'll never forget the broken glass in cement on the tops of brick walls in Sunderland UK. That and council estate housing. The smell of cars on fire in the morning is crazy comforting.
As a kid I moved to Liverpool from the south in the late 90's, one of my first memories was seeing the broken glass on top of walls... we still had the laundry robbed when it was drying on the washing line! We did live in Litherland though so there were plenty of scallies about xD
This is one of my favorite episodes ever. I also love the Arto episode, Geoff has a lot of stuff in that one too. Wish there was one on Penny or maybe all of Flip/Death Box as a whole. From the beginning with Alex Moul all the way till David Gonzales and the more recent stuff.
My favorite skater 🛹 growing up. I had his decks and shoes and wanted to skate like him. I’m and old man in my 30s now but man I remember the fun times.
WHAAAAWHAAA!? Epicly Later'd is back?! Fuck yea!, vice has become so much more than it was a few years ago, but its nice to see they are still producing one of the series that got them noticed.
Great video. I remember watching Geoff in videos from flip, 411, Transworld etc. (So much the tapes would stop working!) It's guys like him who made me want to go out and skate every day after school rain or shine and try new tricks or hit something bigger. Truly inspirational and one of the many hero's of my youth, cheers Geoff!
I thought I recognised this lad. I think I spoke to him a few times in Liverpool in the early 90s, I was a couple of years solder and had started a band. I remember him now. This is Danny cavanagh from anathema in case he reads this
My dad got me a rowley flip deck when i was 16 and i had been watchin his skate videos for weeks str8 just stuck on them and i gotta say it was one of the best gifts ever i skated that deck for 3 years til it gave out.
I wish with all my ❤ nothing but the best to Geoff and his family, hes love towards sk∞ is just incredible such a great inspiration to keep doing what i love to do to...ride my board to get a burrito!
peace to everyone who dosent realize vice video mags first orginal content was skateboarding , and complaining about how they feature epicly laterd? lol go home kooks
Seriously... "Edgelane Skatepark" a few guys could go down there with some buckets, spades and cement etc and sort that park out in no time! Just do it..
mr0scary yeah but I’m a Lfc fan and I skated with flip decks cos of Rowley being fking brilliant and a scouser. Wasn’t bad either in my day landed 180 heelflip down a 9set in town. Wish I carried on, times changed. 2002 ha
now im a skateboarder from australia, and my whole life i have been watching geoff rowley, and i was wondering, is his board always wet? i know in england its nearly always raining, but do skateboarders in england care about that? or do they just accept that there board will get wet?
alot of english skaters parts, if you look at the grip its like super soaked, now where i live i cant handle wet shoes on my grip, but it looks like these guys dont care either way.

Geoff's a legend. Watching his footage from when he was a kid shows how naturally talented he was right from the get-go.
Every now and again i come back to this episode and quickly remember why geoff has always been one of my favorite skaters. So sick on and off the board, just a solid guy
tom penny would be the most legendary epicly laterd honestly...
There is one.
I would sell my child to see a Tom Penny Epic
Yeah and Ronnie Creager
I can't stop watching these...
thanks patrick and geoff for making such a dashed jolly first class mini doc..your efforts are greatly appreciated, cheers from oside!
Don't think i've ever heard anything stranger than a scouse accent mixed with a US accent.
I was about to post the same comment lol.
Sounds so strange...
How about monie loves accent ? Horrid .
freaks me out
He's developed that mid-Atlantic accent. James Mason & Peter Sellers did the same.
Brian Sumner sounds horrible.
My absolute favorite "back in the days" when i was skating. His part in sorry was truly epic!

Geoff is a legend.
This was epicly later'd! Waited two years for new episode!

Half Scouser half California Valleys accent= strange
I thought I recognised this lad. I think I spoke to him a few times in Liverpool in the early 90s, I was a couple of years solder and had started a band. I remember him now.

This guy has always gone the biggest. Everytime I watch him I'm in awe.
Who is sicker reynolds or rowley?
Rowley for gnar tricks
Reynolds for consistency on stable tricks
tom penny sounds like he's just had a bong rip whilst being asked a question and answering it straight after........
😂😂😂😂
sooooo pumped to see another epicly later'd!
this is aweome to finally get Geoff on here
I wish with all my ❤ nothing but the best to Geoff and his family, hes love towards sk∞ is just incredible such a great inspiration to keep doing what i love to do to...ride my board to get a burrito!
PLEASE do Tom Penny, then I can die in PEACE.
They did one. It was taken off of the site.
hes one of my heros growin up too
The first 411vm I got had his profile in it. After seeing him skate in that I was a fan ever since.
Love to hear the accents from my second home in a skate video. English skate scene rocks!
Enjoyed this very much
The first pair of Vans I ever owned were Rowley Pros. Fuck they were the best.
peace to everyone who dosent realize vice video mags first orginal content was skateboarding , and complaining about how they feature epicly laterd? lol go home kooks

One of the best of all time.
I'm sooooo happy VICE looks at skating as a culture.
Nobody skates like Geoff. Defo top 10 skater of all time in my opinion. Rad.

Epicly Later'd - tom penny
My fav always

One of the best ever to ride a board
Odd mixture of accents there

Reason why I subbed 6 years ago
I love the name of the place they hook up in front of, Los Tart.
does anyone happen to know what jacket he is wearing during those church scenes? like 4:48 for example. thx for help
He is my hero
Wheres part 2 ?
Good stuff Patrick. Big Ups!
My first real board was a Geoff Rowley "pixelated" Flip board :)
legend
just to let you guys know the second part is up on vice right now!! like so people can see!
I've not heard of Geoff rowley since thps 2!
My favorite skater over any skater
Roooowleyyy
I remember this guy from Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2, anyone else?
mr0scary yeah but I’m a Lfc fan and I skated with flip decks cos of Rowley being fking brilliant and a scouser. Wasn’t bad either in my day landed 180 heelflip down a 9set in town. Wish I carried on, times changed. 2002 ha
he is the epic freestyler isn't he. When I skated as a teen I always felt he spearheaded that style
he's almost the complete opposite of the freestyler
He’s one tough sob. Some of his spills back in the day, would retire most mortal men.
5:30 was a sick trick
Love the accent. English/American
His accent is so strange, you can really tell he picked it up living in L.A, he doesn't sound scouse.
+Foolish Professional I noticed that too.
Geoff just walked through the front door id be like WTF GEOFF I LOVE YOU
'TURN THE MISFITS UP, EVERYONE'S GONNA GET HAMMERED' HAHAHAHAH!!!!
I like the gnarly old footy xp
my GOAT
MasterBlaster post the link to part 2 i dont see it!
Really interesting stuff. Rowley is a beast.
This gives amazing insight into the skateboard scene oversees and where flip came from. Thanks
Alex Moul maaaannnn was so sick!!
I always played as Geoff in Tony Hawk 1.
His accent is wild - I've never heard a Scouse/American hybrid accent before
can hear an american twang in his accent now... faint but still, interestin how that happens
Part 2 not on apps
From England then moved to Southern California. That's why is accent is like that.
Nollie late flips back then wow
What is that thing he did at 5:26 ?
Youssef Oraby no comply 360 flip i guess
It's called a Sproing.
now im a skateboarder from australia, and my whole life i have been watching geoff rowley, and i was wondering, is his board always wet?
i know in england its nearly always raining, but do skateboarders in england care about that? or do they just accept that there board will get wet?
Yeah, he throws it in a pool of mud every morning every night, exept when the moon is full and shine through, then he runs through the nights
it just sort of happens. not much can be done about it.
macNcheeseFTW
this is the answer i was looking for!
thank you dude
alot of english skaters parts, if you look at the grip its like super soaked,
now where i live i cant handle wet shoes on my grip, but it looks like these guys dont care either way.
Beuge Master420 no. english skaters do not skate when it is raining unless they dont mind ruining boards
how's liverpool doin these days?
This was my idol growing up skatin, and my alias when cops or a property owner would try to get my name when we got caught trespassing.
"...and apparently he's old as nails."
Now I am...
Hard as nails*
