      When your vehicle is moving, DON'T just la di da, I'm just gonna stay in lane, listen to the radio, update my Wastebook status, text my homies. Seen way too many people do this. I just shake my head. Hence instead of staying centered in my lane, I put myself to the far right/left of my lane. That extra 2-3 feet has saved me countless near accidents from the other drivers.
      Anything could happen. A plane's door could fall out of the sky, or eject waste. Animals could be on the road, potholes, kids throwing rocks over the bridge, a bridge could just collapsed because of a ship, etc...

      I used to have to walk to school at that age, in Anchorage, Alaska in total darkness. The only solution the school had to so many of us kids being hit by cars was to have a woman there sew reflector tape on our winter gear.

    Thankfully this driver was alert. A similar thing happened to my youngest when he was seven. He was waiting to cross the street with his older brothers (16 & 18) when my youngest just ran into the road. Traffic was going about 35-40. The driver caught the movement out of the corner of his eye and swerved just enough that my son hit the side of his mini van. He was banged up but nothing serious. I couldn’t thank that man enough for bring so attentive.

    • @annap7678
      @annap7678 26 дней назад

      Definitely better to be out walking and hit a car rather than have the car hit you! That was surely terrifying for the brothers, who never expected their 7-year-old brother to do anything remotely like that. Maybe he misheard something they said while they were waiting for traffic to clear enough for crossing and thought they said “Now!” I can see how something like that could easily happen, especially if they had said to him something like, “Now, don’t go until we say the word, then-run as fast as you can!” That would explain why he actually RAN INTO a car (in addition to the driver’s great reflexes, since obviously the boy almost ran right in front of it)-he was concentrating on running as fast as he could, trusting his brothers, and not watching the cars or the overall scene himself. (Seven-year-olds often seem to have this kind of tunnel vision, which can at times come in handy-obviously, this would not be one of those times.) Then, being boys and prone to tease each other, one of them (I’m guessing the 16-year-old) was teasing at a time when he figured it was incredibly obvious that it was NOT time to go and didn’t realize little brother was not paying the same attention to the traffic as he was himself, and the 7-year-old took him seriously.
      THAT particular moment (IF this is what really happened) would have been so horrifying for the middle brother-for both of the older brothers but especially for him-that I bet he went OCD for at least awhile with respect to his little brother’s safety and also OCD about when it’s okay to tease and when it isn’t, not to mention over-estimating the ability of younger children to navigate complex scenarios.
      That’s just the first plausible scenario that came to mind when presented with the mental picture of 3 brothers of those particular ages trying to cross a busy street and the youngest running INTO a car. The whole event might have happened a different way entirely in reality-probably did. If it did happen that way though, I bet the brothers all got a LOT of mileage (so to speak) out of that story for years to come … and thank God this near-tragedy had a happy ending!

And if the child had been killed his angels would have taken him to heaven. Life is a mystery for man but its end is known from the beginning with God. About 80 minutes from now is my son’s birthday (April 4). He would have been 43. We lost him 22 years ago at age 21 and his angels also took him home. This is the only peace one can have knowing they are in a better place with the pain and suffering (physical, mental, emotional) over with. The lies, deceit, jealousy, deception, betrayal in this sinful world are beyond reach there and someday it will be the same for us. (A “friend’s” jealousy prompted him to ambush and kill my son and though I miss him every day, I know where he is and that we will be reunited soon). Losing a child is something one gets through but never over but for an innocent child or a son or daughter who believes in Jesus, has repented to live by His example being baptized in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, their angels will have carried them home. May whatever questions or doubts you have be answered through the Word of God. There isn’t much time left - may I recommend watching John MacArthur’s “When God Abandons a Nation” but there are many others which will give one hope, peace, and comfort! God bless …..

    I want details from the parents before I judge. I had a 7 yr old cousin that did something similar. His parents were fighting and he heard one of them say they have no time to do fun stuff in the morning because they got a kid to feed and take to school ect. He decided he was gonna help his parent by being a big boy and walk the mile to school by himself to give them time to have fun. He had no idea it was that kinda fun yet. He changed his dads alarm clock, left a note for his parents so they wouldn’t worry and snuck out. Well he did get to school and it was a safe route but his parents missed the note and called the police for a kidnapping. The police called the school and confirmed he was there so his parents went to get him. The whole family had a big come to Jesus moment and they were a better family after that. Nothing like the terror of possibly losing your child to make you analyze your life.

    Similar story happened to me:
    During Covid after 2am I was on my way to scrub an ER vet clinic when a small child stepped out from the darkness into my lane. If it wasn’t for her Frozen bright blue PJs I wouldn’t have seen her. I swerved and hit the brakes I looked behind me and I didn’t see her. I get out the SUV and see her running barefoot towards a busy intersection. Lots of nice bars are on this street we were on. I see 2 sports cars lined up gunning it a towards the intersection from about 1/4 mile away and I run as fast as I can screaming waving my arms in the air as I’m praying I reach this girl before she gets hit…the corvette saw me and started hitting their brakes then swerves to the other lane and keeps going. I ask the girl “can I pick you up” and she turns around I notice she has Down syndrome. I pick her up and run towards a gate guard post outside of a neighborhood. I told him to call the cops. As he did I did a quick visual check on the little girl for any blood. She was just dirty and barefoot. The cops are on their way so I left the girl with the gate guard and went to work. THEN as I pull into the Vet clinic I get a call from the PD and they want me to come back. The girl was missing for a few hours. She wandered out of her house. The cops gave me a report to show my boss why I was late and then the cops said I should apply to work there instead lol the parents didn’t even bother to stay to thank me kinda bothers me neither parent wanted to thank me personally or see who the stranger was who picked their kid up.
