Smaug has nothing on Ancalagon the Black. Ancalagon was the greatest and mightiest fire drake in the history of Middle Earth. He was killed by Earendil the Mariner, Elros and Elrond's father, during the War of Wrath at the end of the First Age. When he died, his body was so large that it landed on Thangorodrim and destroyed it. Thangorodrim were 3 volcanoes that Morgoth raised up and where he built his fortress of Angband.
While that is true, you cannot compare the Great Dragons of the First Age to the ones of the Third Age, as Smaug was the last of the Great Dragons by the Third Age, while quite smaller than Ancalagon the Black, he's still impressive in his own right.
Nobody can really tell what ancalagon was like, but most likely he was almost like a machine, as he was one of the darkest servants of Morgoth, he probably didn’t have much personality but if he did I’d like to see that explored. And that while we know of smaugs trickyness and personality so personally I think Smaug still deserves some love and not to be compared to
This horrific massacre alone was just cause for the people to have a claim on some of the treasure in Erebor; Thorin kicked the hornet's nest and Smaug took out his fury on innocent people who'd had little to do with what happened And the fact Thorin refused to acknowledge the blood on his hands afterwards was disgraceful I'm glad Dain at the very least honored Thorin's bargain and gave Bard and his people a share of the treasure like he was supposed to, also becuz Bard succeeded where the dwarves failed and was the one who killed Smaug
I look at Smaug and how much to attack him to defeat him. Turin, the son of the hurin , killed an even more powerful dragon all by himself, they have to film this story the Children of Hurin
The effects of this movie look worse than the LotR trilogy despite being made a decade later. It just never ceases to amaze me how badly they mangled The Hobbit.

The black arrow thing is in the original but has nowhere near as much buildup. If anything this movie tried really hard to CATER to jerks like you by padding the story out so much… they knew everyone would be like “that’s it? He just got downed by a random guy??” Cuz that’s literally how it happened in the book. I still fuckin hate these movies and think they ruined everything give or take a few individual scenes, but I don’t really get your “man can’t kill dragon that’s unrealistic” take, as that’s literally every single western dragon myth since the beginning of antiquity… they never DON’T get killed by some individual guy. It’s also funny that you think that aspect is unrealistic and stupid, but not the aspect where he’s using A CHILD as the shaft of a bow, something that’s meant to withstand stress and flex out of the way of the arrow as it flies forward…
