Super fun point you made about riding backwards. I spent so much time trying to learn how to do that on my Lynx, it was rugged and my progress was slow. Then I got a falcon and I couldn't believe how quickly it was all coming together for me. so now that I'm pretty decent on my falcon it has developed my skills so that now I'm starting to do it fairly well on my Lynx. Cheers Marty , this is really helpful to give us an insight as to different strengths the wheels have , I didn’t get that master in the end , I’m still thinking on what to get , cheers
I've now got about 140 miles on my first wheel the Sherman S. I can't imagine owning 16 of them lol. If I was to get a 2nd wheel today I think I'd go for a Lynx or EX 30. I don't think I'm quite ready for the big dog Master Pro yet lol. I love these types of videos. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, I bought a master pro v2. Rode it twice, it's too heavy for getting on/off buses here in St Louis MO. I'd part with it for $2k. In brand new condition, in orig box, pads not attached yet, custom carry handles bought not installed.
What is your favorite tire???? Just for the fun of it...... After I changed to street tire on my v13 the wheels is so much better. But I dont off road it.
I am not at all surprised to see that 3 of these wheels are Begode. I only ride my Begode wheels now. My sherman max is sitting there doing nothing. My v12 is doing nothing. My Kingsong is doing nothing. I stay on the Commander Pro, Master Pro, and the Extreme. Those three do everything I want. The commander pro is my go-to wheel for range and trail. The Master Pro is my long range wheel. The Extreme gets use for everything local. I do farm work using it every day. It's awesome.
With the EX30 being "old", it is possible to get them new for only $2,700. As much as I would love a Lynx, hard to ignore the EX now. I worry about the extra 20lbs weight though :(. I had a Master Pro V2 - was my favorite wheel, but found it just a little too heavy for me.
Hello Marty! I followed you from the beginning and I appreciate all your work and advice. Please help me decide which suspension to choose for a heavy rider like me: coil, gas or oil shock? Thanks!
Hi and thanks for your support. I really think any of the suspension types will work. Better to just pick the wheel that appeals to you and what kind of riding that you are doing.
A fun drinking game: Watch a Marty video and take a drink every time Marty giggles. Jk… but seriously! lol. Great content, Marty. Enjoyed this one. I just bought a MTen4 from Lem. Arrives this week. Also have my EX30 that Ron sold me and I’m in love with that wheel too.
I'm very confused! I'm a big guy think football. I'm 280lbs and want to learn how to ride . I would like to stick to as low a budget as possible can you recommend a wheel to learn on that can take my weight . Have been thinking no suspension. Any help from anyone out there would help .
I've seen big guys like you ride much smaller wheels (back before we had powerful wheels). As long as you don't attempt to overpower them, just about all modern wheels can be safely ridden at moderate speeds. Certainly an Extreme Bull Commander has the power. Used Sherman's are another great alternative. Or a Monster Pro. All of those wheels have a lot of power and can be bought at quite the discount.
The GT Pro Plus is the only wheel that I have firm knowledge about. I doubt anything else will be released and delivered for this riding season that will usurp my list. I could be wrong though 😊
Judging by the vids you are almost there. Those ring skills are handy. Unfortunately just because you have the skills does not mean there is a seat at the table as many F1 aspirants can attest to. Three amigos, good. Four???
Riding backwards is really hard to master. I can ride seated, one-footed, zip through tight trails, and I'm hitting bigger jumps and drops but I still cannot learn to ride backwards. It is just not clicking
Master Pro V3 (just got end of February - already put 500 miles on it) the sleeper wheel in the shadows that hardly anyone knows about. 5000w motor, 50s or 50Gb battery pack, 66mph recorded speed on RUclips. One day, like a stealthy panther, it will show up out of nowhere and all other wheels will be humbled, and bow at the feet of the Master(Pro3).
If the EX30 (2023) is part of the quality 2024 line up, my instinct tells me the Sherman S is a contender for the list too. As a tour wheel it has much to commend it, starting with reliability.
Theses are big wheels (except for the MTEN)... it would be nice to have wheels between the minis and the performance... people have stairs at home, not always strong enough to pull them, taking bus...
I just wanted to say it's strange that there are no small ones here ........... I have a slightly different MSM 5 V 2 favorite and it has not yet been replaced (weight decides everything), heavier only on holidays. 😉
TBH even if I think this top 4 is somewhat premature, I cant really argue much with your choices. Not being a big boi, I would go with Lynx for a mid rangy wheel. Like my ex30 but I find it a bit unwieldy for me. ET Max is best looker of the bunch & should do great with the bigger fellas. Mpro isnt my cuppa tea but I def can see why it would be for others. After two years with my S18, I've started looking for something better. 50 km range starts to be too little. Nothing better has appeared on the radar yet. I'm an old man and can't handle a 40+ kg wheel. Just getting it into the car would be too heavy. Wish the manufacturers cared more about the weight. Mten could be ok just for fun.
Marty, I don't see how the potential wheel of 2024 is one that has known and fairly wide spread issues. Propping up a manufacturer for releasing a subpar product in terms of safety promotes the wrong message to manufacturers. The same applies to many wheels out there. Until such time that real validation procedures and testing systems are put in place along with system level testing to rule out risks prior to release, I don't think a wheel known to tilt and drop people (for various reasons should be on a top 4 list). Not saying other brands/models get a pass. There are wide spread issues across TONS of wheel, but they too do not deserve the light of day. All these manufacturers need to wake up and realize they're holding people's lives in their hands. If someone pushes a wheel to failure and it drops them, OK, but if it drops them due to a design flaw, that is simply unacceptable.
