I agree with your take, I think for casual gamers who want to play in their free time or after work, this would be a good purchase. I think the switch 2 might release in around 6 months so this would be a good decision for someone who's looking for a large selection of games to choose from, but may not be the best decision for people who want the latest games like a year down the line
I personally think it's worth it because Nintendo games are pretty pricey, especially for the AAA ones. They're doing a major discount on many of the popular games right now and the Nintendo Switch console itself is cheap now as well. I bought the Mario Kart 8 OLED Switch bundle for $274 at Target recently. That's a GREAT deal for me. The black friday deals were lit this year!
I'd say if money isn't an object to just wait for the Switch 2, but for many people, especially casual gamers like myself, buying the OLED on a discount was the most logical and financially responsible decision.
It's funny how we are basically the same person. I use to be a heavy gamer but then I also became a software engineer and that replaced much of my time with programming. I recently bought the OLED switch as well. It definitely brings me back to my childhood but the games are just soo much more pricey than I was expecting. That's my only real complaint.
If you end up really liking the switch, I'd suggest you buy third party joycons and controllers. There are many of them that provides the same features like HD Rumble but can do more
@@georgewangyuthere’s a lot of 3rd party joycons. But some of the best come from Nyxi (the GameCube joycons or the Hyperions), Hori, Doyoky. The mobapad joycons are the best because they do have nfc and everything else the switch joycons have unlike the other 3rd party controllers. If you do not like the slim feel of the switch itself you could get a dockable controller. Like the Nitro deck, Omelet, Nexigo
@@georgewangyu Also with the membership you can download the n64,gameboy,supernintendo,NES , and Genesis apps to play a decent library of retro games, I don't know if you're into retro games, but there is some pretty fun games to play just from that. Recently purchased, currently modding
I mean, it was recommended in 2017 when it first launched, how would it not be recommended in 2024.

I'm debaiting grabbing an OLED, but it seems the new switch may be out soon so its hard to say.
I love my OLED, but i would probably just wait for the switch 2 to come out. It's suppose to be backwards compatible.
Yeahhh it’s tricky

Loooool fair what can you do with mod?
@georgewangyu basically just emulation and pirating , but to mod it you need to physically open it and sauter on a compoment that hacks it.

Nah you’re probaly right but yeah so far I just chuck in a bag which is probably not best idea
