@@zzzz-wf3fb Whether you like his films or not, you can't deny that he's the most successful living director, maybe of all time. So whether you think he's shit or not, you can't deny that the title fits him.
I think Galloway lost control of the interview in the last few minutes. This question about people who inspire you was not executed and conducted in the best way. A little embarrassing the environment stayed.
Yeah, why is Marielle Heller is in the title who just directed just 2 films in her whole life, and Spike Lee the legend isn't? Bradley Cooper is understandable.
To be fair, it's not that easy to moderate a table of several creatives. He has a ton of information in his head, asks interesting questions and all. He does some annoying things, but his job is definitely not as easy as it seems.
Omg I cried 😂😂 because I was watching Spike Lee and I was like omg and then I realized you meant the moderator and I cried even more because omg yes. 😂😂
Guess Galloway isn't the one writing the titles. He was so thirsty for Bradley to name drop some bad directors or to say why Beyonce dropped out. Fucker just wanted a clip he could clickbait.
Bradley's anecdote on finding his passion for directing was really inspiring and the sense of curiosity was really relatable. I always look forward to this series, amazing intimate content.
The moderator improved a bit from past roundtables, but I still find his style of questioning awkward and uncomfortable. Is it just me or does it seem like he has a list of questions in his head and is focused only on getting through his prepared questions instead of letting some of the conversation flow naturally. I find it jarring how he jumps from one question to another, sometimes not even reacting to what a person just said.
I'm very happy that Cuarón quoted Mujica as one of the personalities he admires. It's one of my favorite directors in honoring my political hero. I am proud to be Latin American like them. Viva Cuarón! Viva Mujica! Viva Latino America!!!
It's hilarious because he is actually very smart, extremely well read, and very articulate. He was dumbing himself down for this crowd. When Heller says 'I know nothing about film' and apparently she could care less, I'm sure that got people's attention.

With Cooper doing American Sniper and Spike, Alfonso, and Coogler displaying knowledge of our history of empire building, I would have found that convo profoundly interesting.
Spike Lee is really deserving of the Oscar for Best Director. BlackKklansman is the film of the year; there's so much more going on in the film that has been eclipsed by the forward-facing political element - there's a humanist element too. The Red Lantern sequence is just heavenly, one of the best scenes of the year. Lee presents us with exquisite beauty that is worth protecting in contrast to the inherent ugliness of the KKK elements. Throughout the film, he is always the documentarian: of a true story, recreating with authenticity and affection a beloved period in American culture, with the inclusion of a true legend and hero in Mr. Harry Belafonte, and his ability and daring to locate the power of his story in present events. BlackKklansman is a stone cold classic.
BlacKKKLsnsman and Spike Lee will most likely not Win this Year. The Favourite or Vice will Win Best Picture. And... Yargos Lanthimos(The Favourite) or Alfonso Cuaron(Roma) will probably win Best Director.

IMO Cuaron was on another level this year. Roma is one of the contenders for best film of the decade, not only for this years Oscars. Beautiful soul.
why did he try and get Bradley to spill the tea all the time??...other ppl noticed (ryan shaking his head at that problem with a director question) very negative and he responded well each and every time
Yorgos's blank stare at the beginning is amazing.
I absolutely adore Lanthimos and Cuarón!
I just want to echo the sentiment that Galloway needs to be replaced on these. He's stubborn, curt, snobbish and yes, he interrupts far too often. I much prefer Matt Belloni and Lacey Rose as hosts. I think they would make an excellent pairing for all of these roundtables.
I really like Matt Belloni :) he seems like he's just a superfan who's lucky enough to join his heroes and he lets the guests lead the conversation and goes with the flow
Completely agree
all facts
Reeeebeeeecca Fooooord!!! 🤞🤞🤞
I do not where this hate towards Stephen Galloway comes from but you should just stop. He's not stubborn and he doesn't interrupt he let's them talk and ask each other questions and he asks interesting questions I would ask.
Spike was without a doubt the fun in this interview, followed by Cuaron. But clearly everyone was charmed by Spike, even Alfonso.
Galloway: “Don’t you ever hate it?”
Lee: “Hate what?”
Spike literally just went on a tangent about how they’re all lucky and love what they do and that’s how he followed that up?
*rubs forehead*
Lee & Cuarón. Legends. Happy to see Lanthimos too, being a fan since Dogtooth.
@@wood18net piss off loser
@@wood18net Such a charlatan that he went on to make a bunch of amazing movies after Dogtooth. There have been so many movies that it's inevitable a certain story or type of story has been told by someone else at some point. And even knowingly or unkownigly one draws inspiration from certain filmakers/films they've watched.
Dogtooth is not the only film he has made, The Lobster / Killing of the Sacred Deer / Alps / The Favourite
All high concept movies , all award winning movies which shows Lanthimos's ability as a writer and director.
It's funny how they make fun of this bad, bad, bad journalist. Spike Lee doesn't give a shit about offending him or pointing how unprofessional he is xD
Stephen, congratulations. You improved the way you direct this interviews. Keep up the good work
I feel kinda bad, he looks slightly traumatised in these recent interviews. Must've read the comments.
I was going to say it seemed like everyone started to get annoyed with his shortness and the way he asked certain questions
Well... actually at 38:41 he made one of his uncomfortable questions. Even Spike Lee and Ryan Coogler reacted to this. He improved... but still has to get better
Agreed. I had already written him off in my mind but these roundtables are too compelling to pass so I'm glad I can watch without a distraction. I'm only half-way in and he's doing a really great job, all feels natural!
I respect your opinion but I do not agree with the word "improve" I think he's "changed."
To be honest...I'm here for Cuarón & Spike Lee....anyelse ??? Btw...this moment 49:30 was epic in the video. Spike wonders and ask how the hell Cuarón do that beach scene
Juan Gomez 😬
I'm here for them and Yorgos
I love Marielle's reaction to Alfonso saying they could only do one take of the scene.
@@0axel078 yeah...
I'm here primarily for Yiorgos and also for Cuaron.
The questions were so bad the directors had to take over and ask their own questions...
mangoesandgrapes I like when the guests ask the questions tho it’s nice to see people in the industry interact like this
@@henoktesfom996 I totally agree. I meant it as a criticism of the interviewer - most of his questions had a negative bent
mangoesandgrapes yeh the interviewer is completely whack
i feel like they all are so interested to hear what Cuaron has to say, they all look at him with such admiration
i know i do, lol
I have been waiting for the full cut of this roundtable for so long!!
The directors ganging up on the moderator for being inconsistent is golden!
Just here for Lee, Alfonso, Lanthimos, & Coogler
On the low. If the favourite gets no recognition at the oscars I'm gonna be pisssssssssed.
This interviewer needs to go, he’s always looking for dirt, but these people are too smart, talented and respectful to sink to that level.
Also I don’t know Ryan Cooglers mom, but it would of been nice to hear about her instead of shutting him down.
The thing I wanted them to talk about the most was when they started to say what part of the process was most painful and why and they Stephen interrupts them to get back to his script of question. As an interviewer ya gotta know when to go with the flow of the interview.
Cuarón always looks like child listening to his grandpa's stories, when someone else speaks. Wonderful!
21:32 the legend has changed
29:30 As a fellow Greek film student myself, that part hurts...
FINALLY, they are bringing back the full interviews
what a fabulous roundtable. good chemistry, no interruptions, genuine interest in each other's work. lovely, educating, calming.
When i hear that intro guitar lick I'm ready for the snack

Finally. Thank you. Now we just need the Actors and Actresses Roundtable and we will have made great progress
Pretty sure they came out already

@@arshaddahlan Some other account managed to get a hold of their Actors Roundtable and uploaded it but THR didn't post it. And they definitely haven't posted the Actresses Roundtable. I aint watchin either until they put it up lol
It's interesting. You can tell that the interviewer (Stephen?) put Coogler in a box based on his urban accent. He seems to display a sort of passive disrespect towards him. Or maybe Im reading it wrong. Regardless, Im really happy and proud of what Coogler has accomplished.
yeah he had a real weird dismissive energy towards Ryan with every exchange.
Brits are often classist
He really seemed to approach him differently, Ryan isn't very well spoken, and this proper brit who is used to conversing with other elitist seamed to be fishing for more.
So proud of Coogler! We need more Bay Area voices in the film industry.
I think it's interesting how Yorgos' movies are really hilarious yet he seems so serious in interviews.

I love Ryan Coogler's answers, but I also love how some of the other directors look a him as he's answering; not only as if it's incredulous that he's a director, but that he's done work to earn him a spot at that table.
I love the directors just losing it at Galloway's ridiculous approach to conversing
I know! He called Ryan, the "king of studio films." The shock on Ryan's face. LMAO.
@@ellcally508 True, it's ridiculous to make a statement like that about anyone other than Spielberg
Ronaldo Sosa but spielberg ain’t shit. So overrated.

So whether you think he's shit or not, you can't deny that the title fits him.
He's a fucking robot.

We're still doing this with Stephen Galloway. Why must you insist on punishing us, THR??
@@krille696 that's just sick thinking man
He was actually pretty good in this one, and asked some relevant follow ups. Maybe he finally read the comments.
He's the editor of the magazine he's not going anywhere unfortunately haha
To be fair, it's not that easy to moderate a table of several creatives. He has a ton of information in his head, asks interesting questions and all. He does some annoying things, but his job is definitely not as easy as it seems.

Suprised they didn't put Spike Lee or Bradley Cooper in the title, could of got some extra clicks.

I love how the directors made this an amazing roundtable, working around Stephen Galloway terrible questions and rude attitude.
Yes agreed
Yorgos Lanthimos is such a great filmmaker.
Alfonso Cuarón 👏😎👏😎👏😎👏!!
The best at the table!
The moderator improved a bit from past roundtables, but I still find his style of questioning awkward and uncomfortable. Is it just me or does it seem like he has a list of questions in his head and is focused only on getting through his prepared questions instead of letting some of the conversation flow naturally. I find it jarring how he jumps from one question to another, sometimes not even reacting to what a person just said.
like he's just checking off his list
I thought he's gotten drastically worse this year.
I find his style of moderating the conversation way too confrontational. And he is trying too hard to force or control the direction of the discussion
I'm here just for Alfonso, Lanthimos and Spike Lee.
Just? That's like half the table, man.
Same, i could care less about the other guys
I would like to see a roundtable with Lars Von Trier trolling people for one hour straight
I love the moment when the directors kind of took over the interview😂
Amazing how he (Ryan) said his mom was his hero or admire not and host just through it away because he wanted someone that everybody knew haha....wow

bradley cooper trying to relate to all of these people is truly hilarious
It's hilarious because he is actually very smart, extremely well read, and very articulate. He was dumbing himself down for this crowd. When Heller says 'I know nothing about film' and apparently she could care less, I'm sure that got people's attention.

I love Spike for bringing up the CIA assassination of Lumumba. I would have liked to see a discussion of the current editorial control the Department of Defense has over all films involving military, and censoring anything that sheds inconvenient light on their activities. With Cooper doing American Sniper and Spike, Alfonso, and Coogler displaying knowledge of our history of empire building, I would have found that convo profoundly interesting.

Spike is such a dardevil, he is not afraid of speaking his mind.
I love how newbie Bradley is in this table💗
BlackKklansman is a stone cold classic.
damn. your synopsis makes me want to check it out that much more now. thanks!
Sebastian Bliss - Thanks for that. I'm really curious about the film now.
BlacKKKLsnsman and Spike Lee will most likely not Win this Year. The Favourite or Vice will Win Best Picture. And... Yargos Lanthimos(The Favourite) or Alfonso Cuaron(Roma) will probably win Best Director.
Nowhere near in the same league as Roma and the favourite. Or first man for that matter. Very overrated director.
This is the most naturally diverse roundtable that I've witnessed. It is beautiful.
