For some reason (before I heard Cuaron talk about his work) I always thought he would be kind of artsy and stand-offish, but hes really not. Hes actually so down to earth and pleasant and not at all pretentious.
Brilliant nuggets from Cuarón throughout!😀 Listened through once and heard about 20 things that I want to write down and lots of honest insights. I'll be listening again with a notepad 📝😁
Congratulations!
Great Expectations is legit one of my favorite movies ever. Note to artists: just cause you think something you made is trash, doesn't mean it doesn't mean something to someone else.
You see it as a movie standing alone, while he meant he wasn't liking it in the context of artist's maturity sense. Wrong reason, not having good grasp, too much compromising, etc. In terms of early works at his Hollywood period, he was more disappointed in himself rather than the works he produced.
Sorry.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez is the nobel prize author famous for 100 Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera, Gael Garcia Bernal is the actor for Y Tu Mama Tambien.
Ciment is so ignorant of both Cuaron's history and to actually listening to the conversation. Never noticing when Cuarón was tired of talking about the same thing, always making up facts, it's frustrating to watch. Thank God Cuarón is as nice and patient as he is.
How to French: 1st person on stage "Hello. Applaud." 2nd person, French interviewer's first question, (no "hello" or other formal expressions): "so do you think your oeuvre is part of the Hitchockian canon or do you subscribe to Lacan's philosophy according to which there is a le-"
J'en ai marre d'écouter Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN. This isn’t a “masterclass” this a personal interview or something like that. Alfonso is a great guy who has defied all laws to make films in the most difficult place “studio system Hollywood’. However, I feel his first work in cinema or what I call cinema is ROMA. Is almost as he has been rehearsing many years working in commercial cinema to finally make a FILM!
I listen to u, Guillermo, Alejandro. My dreaming has resumed. Film, Mexican Film narrative since 1992 with Jesus...a hard twist. I did meet Mr. Channona at Churrubusco studios.. So green of course. Lubeszki...hard cognition.
Mexico has many talented film makers we are lucky to see such films at this time
Cuaron, Inarritu, Del toro, Lubezki, Prieto. Best time to be alive
And Raul Peralta
Such an amazing director and he comes off so honest and grounded here. A huge inspiration.
Youth travelers in Mexico is maturity. It has no dumbing down, absolute freedom. What to do.
For some reason (before I heard Cuaron talk about his work) I always thought he would be kind of artsy and stand-offish, but hes really not. Hes actually so down to earth and pleasant and not at all pretentious.
So true!
That’s what I really love about him and del Toro. They’re so talented AND so pleasant. Makes sense that they’re good friends
Well, he sounds a bit artsy, snobbish & stand-offish to me, contrary to Del Toro who has retained much of his humbleness.
@3:46 Alfonso Appears.
Great discussion with wonderful insight into his process and early career.
"Films are like ex wives... I loved the very mucho but I never want to see them again..." you´re a fuckin genious
syietttt

Oh Mexican directors.... the world is a better place.
Congratulations!

Cannes loves Mexican cinema, just ask Reygadas.
Such a shame that he is a prententious douchebag.
¿Efecto frankie rivers?
And then both him and Guillermo win Oscars and Golden Lion 2017-2018, xD insane...
4:00 for the start of the interview
4:07 Start
Michel, kind pealing away a complex process of writing, filming, fun.
Your hands and their movements are linguistic.
47:52 Gabriel Garcia Marquez?Really? The interviewer is so random 😂😂😂
What's wrong with that ?
Gabriel Garcia Marquez is the nobel prize author famous for 100 Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera, Gael Garcia Bernal is the actor for Y Tu Mama Tambien.
The subtitles are all over the place

I agree with you
the interviewer is fixated on stories behind the scene than getting into discussion on evolving personal development as a filmmaker
Well, at least French folks can pronounce Alejandro's name better than gringos usually do (Inyarreetooh)
Lol
They support to give the Oscar to yaritza because she did the actuation she did the work
How to French:

56:05 categorization is weird
I have that exact same shirt. It’s polyester.
"Desolé" omg hahah
A Leonardo dictation le dieron un Oscar por su actuation porque no se lo dieron a yaritza

Damn, I like great expectations lol. He really doesn’t hah
