In that time news came out about all the mistreatment developers endure from layoffs to sexual misconduct to death threats. I love videogames as an artform, but I've reconsidered making a career of it.
I feel like every creative industry has this problem, which is to say the music industry, film, animation, etc. Which is to say, don't make a career out of ANY of those industries. Crunch culture across the board, burning talent and replacing them with fresh new talent. So many people want to be game developers, musicians, artists, actors, actresses, cartoonists, mangaka, etc. There's so many people that want in, and every predatory producer knows this and takes advantage. It's frankly disgusting and sad how exploitative these industries are
One route is to make games yourself, or make a new creative team where sexual harassment is an instant firing. There's more outlets than just applying to mainstream studios. (And if you do get into a studio, stand tall against the bullshit going on and call it out.)

I have worked for Ubisoft for a year and a half now. I work 9 to 5, never did any OT, haven't seen any harassment of any kind. I do work in one of the smaller studios though and i don't work on game productions directly. Before that i worked for Activision/Blizzard for nearly 5 years, there i saw lots harassment and did shit load of OT. So i'm not saying Ubisoft is perfect, but they did do a lot of changes over the last 2 years and the work environment you get really depends on the studio.
A portion of that harassment can be towards female team members, or minority team members. How many of that portion worked in your studio? Because actual terrorising isn't really dependent on the 'enviroment', it's usually on the abusers allowed to do that without being punished.
Sometimes it's not so simple, Due to nepotism, favoritism and the nature of most work place hierarchies, opening your mouth often results in the perpetrator(s) facing no justice whilst also putting you on their radar as a "troublemaker" and a reason will be found(invented) to terminate your employment. Even if you go above the company straight to the police. Often times nothing gets done in time (especially without evidence) This probably isn't the best advice but it worked for me in my situation, Assult them back, painfully in a tender area. I had a coworker who kept bumping into me and brushing past me a little to often, I felt uncomforable and told him I wasn't gay and asked him to knock it off, he did until one day I felt a hand on my lower back while I was on task, I whipped around and booted him in the balls. He left me alone after that and nothing ever came of it. Defend yourself.
