This series really helped me understand why mages in WOD are so weird/crazy: through their Awakening, they had the slightest taste of ultimate power, as well as a lingering hint about how to get back there. That alone is enough for many people to completely lose themselves chasing after that one fleeting dream, no matter what else it might cost them. The Elric brothers from Fullmetal Alchemist have a similar experience, although their magic system cares a lot less about how many people witness it...

Sybil's is my favorite because of just how quickly things go sideways. You can really feel how things get uncomfortable after a certain point with the blond man, and in the moment you'd just put it down to another eccentric art enjoyer. If you know what a Tzimisce is and what they do, his eccentricity rings all kinds of alarm bells, but honestly _not_ knowing makes his attacking her more shocking and adds to the 'dreamer' angle of Awakening. Realizing Sybil managed to attract the attention of someone so horrifying and held a conversation with him makes it so much more stomach churning because of her own fascination with the imagery of a fleshy city. _"Do not struggle.. I will help you! I will help you make your vision a reality!"_
Fantastic episode. The representation of a struggling artist felt incredibly real, as did the various unusual folk that she comes into contact with. Excellent RP. Spoilers beyond this point. I was also impressed by just how effectively the predatory nature of that vampire was communicated. He may have a genuine interest, to the extent that a dead creature can, but he seeks out someone who is obviously not seeing much traffic, and insinuates himself as a friend. He also seems like he may have contributed to the lack of traffic. Salsa Verde selling for $500,000 seems very unusual in this kind of event (barring the widespread money laundering in the art world), and while I took the line about some of the people being in tears at the sheer beauty of Salsa Verde as a joke, there's also the possibility of malicious supernatural influence here.
If this vampire is who I think he is (a fucking antideluvian, aka about the scariest vampires currently un-alive) no fucking way he tried to embrace Sybil just because she was in an isolated area.
@@Tom_Cruise_Missile Not a matter of being in an isolated area, but being in a more vulnerable state of mind. Everyone wants to be appreciated, and she clearly wasn't being, at that exhibit. He didn't pick her because of that, as vampires see their Embrace as a gift, but he wanted her to be as likely as possible to accept it.
Honestly, if the poor chap ever gets to The Truth of WOD lore he might just spontaneously combust. It's either that or raving madness punctuated by doomsaying and paranoid reclusiveness.
There's some very primordial joy in seeing people ask "Do you speak this language?" about a language that YOU do understand, and hear them say words the people presents don't know, but you do. Makes you feel like you keep great knowledge.

I fully believe that was a tzimisce that nearly turned Sybil...he was looking for a flesh sculptor apprentice. Knowing how obsessive tzimisce can be I have a feeling he will try again to gain that apprentice.
From what I’ve heard the name he wrote on the wall is a giveaway for Tzimksce. Remember the name you write on the wall if the name of a person you have met whos face you feel like you recognized in the parasol is. The name of the person this vampire knew is. The dragon of Tiber. This is apparently the name of a Tzimksce Methuselah. The description of the vampires appearance and why Odo was kinda geeking out. Is what Lestat from the Anne Rice vampire books looks like. This is a Tzimksce flesh sculptor who has sculpted his own flesh to look like Lestat who personally knows a Methuselah of his own clan. A clan that you mentioned is obsessive. The only reason she isn’t gonna have a blood hunt called on her for knowing of the masquerade is because this would be sure is definitely going to be wanting to make her his personal target. This vampire most definitely is going to be obsessing over embracing Sybil. He will not settle for not making her his childe. She’s probably the personal obsession of a 6th or 7th gen
@bc1284 Well, she won't have a blood hunt because Tzimisce are a Sabbat clan and don't care all that much about the Masquerade. The Camarilla won't act against her because they wouldn't know yet about the breach.
Well, in episode 1 she does presumably join a mage group. Do vampires even call blood hunts on mages? I mean, they usually abide by a masquerade of their own. They don't go around telling people they're mages.

That’s the vibe I couldn’t place. Sybil’s art instillation is literally the kind of thing in one of Kitty Horrorshows that I like to describe as “walking simulator as the framework for an interactive poem” games. Sybil’s game aesthetic is basically kitty horrorshow and I love it.

If im not being dumb, its like normal salsa, but the red color that comes from tomatoes and the types of peppers and such that go into it are instead green because the main ingredient is tomatillos, which are a similar but kind of spicy(?) green tomato type of fruit/vegetable. Its actually quite good, its got more of a bitter and sour taste but is generally still spicy. I like it with my street tacos instead of normal salsa or pico.

Bepis and Salsa Verde, truly the sign of SpeakerD’s creative genius
He almost certainly had an eye out for her for a few days now most likely at least.
If this vampire is who I think he is (a fucking antideluvian, aka about the scariest vampires currently un-alive) no fucking way he tried to embrace Sybil just because she was in an isolated area.

Well now its potential student can do magic, he gonna give himself a bonner just thinking of what he can do with her.

It's green salsa
If im not being dumb, its like normal salsa, but the red color that comes from tomatoes and the types of peppers and such that go into it are instead green because the main ingredient is tomatillos, which are a similar but kind of spicy(?) green tomato type of fruit/vegetable.
