I still maintain that is how Speaker will name any kids he has. He will wait until their moment of birth, and instead of the doctor making sure they are alive and crying he will just put them on the scale and scream their name at them.

It both diffuses some of the tension, but also helps reinforce the kind of person Parker is. Whether it's a man with a gun, or a cosmic being on the edge of creation, he will just stare at them and not lose his cool. Love this man.

Kind of yeah. His Avatar is telling he's not a preserver or safekeeper of artifacts, but the kind of man who wants to possess them for the novelty of exploration. Which makes him not so different from the suited man he just killed. It's hard to define the line on that sort of thing. At what point are you just collecting trophies to put onto a yacht or your parlor versus just "safekeeping" things which arguably don't belong to you?

I actually kinda realized something. When Cyrus said "There won't be a tomorrow morning", it's very possible that he knew he was gonna die that night, which is why the clock was so important to him. That probably sounds pretty obvious saying it out loud, but I think it's kinda neat.
So we have Bill the conspiracy nut with a chimp buddy cop, Sybil the Almost Dragon game desiginer artiste, Samson the former cultist/customer absolute Baller, and Parker the Infiinite, the Collector. Seems like an amazing cabal can't wait for more.

I love this guys so much and I am so happy, that they pushed through the GW-Disaster. And I sincerely mean not only Alfa, but the entire crew with their own respective projects. Be it here on RUclips with HTP, 0V. I loved Warhams back then on Zoran's Twitch, which has now moved forward to Narrative Declaration, which in my mind kicked off Speaker's Session here. Odo, Earndil, Hulky... god, I love those guys and their respective teams. I hope they continue to work together and keep inspiring each other. Because that is how it seems from my external viewpoint.

He said it in a moment of loosed self-control in complete contradiction to his own self-interest so you wouldn't think he would be holding back at that point, but we also know that Parker's true desires were buried under multiple layers of duty. Put into context with what his avatar told him, I wonder if what really offended Parker was the lack of knowledge and appreciation the aristocrat showed. Parker claimed it was because objects belong in their context and to their people, but maybe that's just what he thinks a good antiquarian is *supposed* to believe. Awakened Parker doesn't sound like he has a problem with collecting artifacts, he just thinks everyone else is doing it wrong because they don't understand the true value of what they have. Peter is the type of character I really like: calm and polite in a really eerie way, but also dangerously unstable and neurotic. And Frederik's speaking voice fits him so well! I'm really excited to see where this goes!
I know it was technically a mistake, but I actually really appreciate the bit at the end where SpeakerD and Fred just talk about the game and how they're playing it. Seeing that like discussion around the game and how they're building it together is like... it's heartening! It makes the game feel nice. Plus it just gives an example of a really good conversation with an ST, a useful template of a sort. Love you guys :]
huh, weird detail I noticed. The only reason that Bill and his buddies went into the swamp in the first place was due to the imprinting of some meso-american sigil of some sort in the mud. Salsa Verde was the most popular exhibit at the artist sale. Arguably Samson didn't encounter anything of particular meso-american reference or origin, but... Parker sees a picture of a meso-american artefact that was used for what many consider the precursor to... Basketball?! Idk if I'm picking up on something or being like Bill and seeing threads where there aint, but who knows?
It's a setup for a story where mages are making a team to battle an alien invasion by way of a game of magic basketball. And South America will be ground zero.
Okay but if 'Mage: Space Jam," then everyone in this game needs "Explain it Like I'm Five: Basketball" to avoid physically hurting the audience in the Venn diagram overlap of goth/horror/gaming fans and people who weren't afraid of sports in childhood. Seriously, though, I love this crew, and this WoD content era.
The voice acting ability of the GM is fucking phenomenal. Such a small thing really gets the mind attached to the story. Great initiative with this series! I can not wait for more! Bravo!
He's really good. One thing he does that all GM's can benefit from is talk. slowly. savoring. each. word. I once described some giant spiders coming down from a roof but because I said it slowly, imbuing each word with the crawling creepiness of a spider just above, I had my players raving about what an amazing time they had. Presentation is so important.
@@brettwood1351 Given what we've seen, they're fine for now. Sybil's art is newly created, Bill might have some heirloom tools, but the tools are still in use, smelly, and not pretty. Aside form that, the oldest thing he owns of note is probably either a gun, or a smelly RV. Then we have sportball boy who traded bat guano to an unclassified flavor of supernatural for an edge in sportsball. So they are VERY safe right now from grabby hands. They don't even have much that regular thieves would go out of their way for, let alone Parker. At least for now.
I am slightly dissapointed that it wasn't 4 revolver cylinders as I thought it was described, which is immediately remedied by the biggest revolver cylinder I have ever seen.

Oh boy! For the new fans the Sphere of Prime in Mage the Ascension is the study of raw creation and the energy that fuels the Universe. Prime is the study of Quintessence or Mana if you're an old timer Mage. Literally without the Sphere of Prime *Nothing in existence will work.* It *is* what makes the universe work. With Prime magic, the mage can change the flow of universal energies to create, destroy and reshape reality around them as he or she sees fit. While the other Spheres influence the actual stuff of creation, Prime controls the power from which they all spring. The Sphere of Prime is immensely powerful but useless on its own you need the other spheres to make it work. It is also the hardest for Mages to comprehend due to its nature as the fundamental force that makes the universe work. Combine Matter and Prime to create constructs like a Green Lantern, Forces can make a car run without power, Correspondence can make items you enchant teleport people, At Low Levels • a Prime Mage can sense magic around them, see the weaving of the etheric threads and they can imbue an item with a bit of the Mages personality into it and create illusions/holograms. They can also attempt to negate or counterspell some magic so long as they have a basic understanding of what type of magic is cast. At Mid Levels • • a Prime Mage can now enchant objects with magical power from coins to swords to guns or anything you desire, your only limit is your Imagination. These items can be given to anyone and used by anyone but unless the wielder is a Mage it's true potential is locked. You can also fire concentrated blasts of pure magical energy. This is the required level needed to create something from nothing if you're using Forces, Life or Matter Magic At High levels • • • you can start reshaping reality around you. You can steal the Quintessence (Mana) of people around you to power or even overclock your own spells with greater effect. You can also do this to other Mages, This can get dark *very fast* as if you steal too much Quintessence the affected person *will die.* You can also start enchanting yourself and others with Forces, Life or Matter Magic. At Really High levels • • • • you can redirect and alter the flow of magic around you and you can even draw on the Quintessence from *everything* around you. From people, animals, plants etc. This is also the levels when you can start playing God by creating powerful enchantments which can do whatever you need it to. Just like at level • • Prime the items potential is locked only to its creator. At Master Levels • • • • • You have become a Literal God as you can now create or unmake anything or everything around you. Body, Mind and even Soul. At this level you can negate and even nullify Paradox with your own Willpower or even prevent a Mage from casting spells entirely, awaken other mages, and you can manifest your own Avatar into reality at this level. Your enchantments at • • • • • are also Godlike as you can now enchant objects or people to break the fundamental laws of reality. At this level the DM cannot stop you anymore as you can reject the DM's reality and substitute your own.

I love how much of this particular Awakening session could be seen as the theme of Mage as a whole. The dichotomy between what Parker believes treasures/collecting is for and Cyrus's definitely vibes the same thematic wavelength as the Traditions vs The Technocracy.
I find it interesting just how wide of a setting net all of these Awakenings are throwing out. Bill Morgan ran into an alien that could be a ton of things, plus agents of the Technocracy. Parker seems to have a met a mage, or someone who knows about them at least (talking sleazy suit man, not his avatar). Sybil got attacked by a bloody Toreador of all things. Samson already knew about sorcery and was using it to play basketball, he's just getting a majorly upgraded version of what he had before.

@HalfTangible Tzimisce are also actually rather keen on artistic stuff, especially when it involves body horror (which Sybil is known for). They basically worship their ability to sculpt flesh - it would make sense for them to seek out artists with that sort of vision. Also, dude felt *too* polite and "well dressed" (in an old-fashioned way), which fit a Tzimisce way more than a Toreador. A Toreador wouldn't be caught dead in anything less than the height of modern fashion, no matter how old they are. Hell, speaker described him as "perfectly sculpted", and that's one of the two ways a tzmisce tends to end up - you either get eldritch flesh horror or inhuman and uncanny beauty.

GOD, this was so vivid. The insane godly creature avatar thing and the effects on it's voice - just IN-SANE. Lord have mercy, what I would give to play with such DMs and players as you guys are. I miss playing TTRPGs so much. Aaaanyway. Mr. Speaker D, Mr. Knudsen, this was, as always, a pleasure and a privilege to watch your work.
The introductions so far have been great! Congratulations to the cast, the artists, and D for doing some insane characterizations. The products from Ogre are really some of the freshest, most creative things I've seen in a while, and I can't but marvel at your ability to put up more great content. P.S: Parker could've used his moment of omnipotence to trap the other wizard in his antique mirror, but that's just an alternative in the near infinite things you can do in this game, and I love it.
What an awesome premise for a mage. An antiquarian who's dreams of holding the greatest collection of forgotten lore, trinkets, and artifacts is crushed under mundanity until awakened by a cosmic being doing much the same. And then years upon years of lost ambition come flooding back in a moment of pure being to announce his intent to become "The collector" arch super villain origin story levels of dope. Love this.
He's either going to go through an important arc as a person, learning to value his friends... Or be the biggest PoS in the game by the end. My money is on the latter.
Fredrik Knudsen's character is bursting with the sort of bitter resentment that can only come from someone who knows what its like to live in a medium-sized-city suburban hell to make their parents happy.
@ncrrangerrolandtembo4615 spoken like someone who has never been trapped in Norfolk. I have, and made my way out quite literally far as you possibly could and let me tell you it's not easy. That doesn't mean that I resent my family for it or wasn't thankful to have them in my life, but sometimes you're stuck somewhere you can't grow but feel obligated to stay or incapable of leaving. I'm saying that to help you empathize and understand the character. If you still think that sounds like a toxic mindset, then congratulations. That's the whole point of this character in a story about flawed characters.

Yeah, the rest are just sort of eccentric but otherwise pretty chill for the most part (even Samson, despite being the most overtly aggressive/confrontational member of the gang), but Parker's clearly got years of bottled up frustration and resentment to work through...and now he's awakened to limitless cosmic power.
Prime seems like the most like candidate if you ask me. Antiquities and all that. The shackled city bit makes me feel more like space than anything else, but it could easily be matter or spirt too. The transmutation of living flesh is definitely life. Granted, I played a different version of mage.

Their approach to the Supernal is one of Choice and Consequence.

It is a horror game in 'World of Darkness' after all. As someone that has played WoD a ton, I was so excited that Fred leaned into the Dark Candy that Speaker threw at him. The complexity of the character that formed in a simple hour of gameplay is mind-blowing. He's obviously enjoying himself.

I actually kinda realized something.
When Cyrus said "There won't be a tomorrow morning", it's very possible that he knew he was gonna die that night, which is why the clock was so important to him.
That probably sounds pretty obvious saying it out loud, but I think it's kinda neat.
So we have Bill the conspiracy nut with a chimp buddy cop, Sybil the Almost Dragon game desiginer artiste, Samson the former cultist/customer absolute Baller, and Parker the Infiinite, the Collector. Seems like an amazing cabal can't wait for more.

I love this guys so much and I am so happy, that they pushed through the GW-Disaster. And I sincerely mean not only Alfa, but the entire crew with their own respective projects. Be it here on RUclips with HTP, 0V. I loved Warhams back then on Zoran's Twitch, which has now moved forward to Narrative Declaration, which in my mind kicked off Speaker's Session here. Odo, Earndil, Hulky... god, I love those guys and their respective teams. I hope they continue to work together and keep inspiring each other. Because that is how it seems from my external viewpoint.

He said it in a moment of loosed self-control in complete contradiction to his own self-interest so you wouldn't think he would be holding back at that point, but we also know that Parker's true desires were buried under multiple layers of duty.
Put into context with what his avatar told him, I wonder if what really offended Parker was the lack of knowledge and appreciation the aristocrat showed. Parker claimed it was because objects belong in their context and to their people, but maybe that's just what he thinks a good antiquarian is *supposed* to believe. Awakened Parker doesn't sound like he has a problem with collecting artifacts, he just thinks everyone else is doing it wrong because they don't understand the true value of what they have.

You can feel Speaker D’s frenetic energy throughout all these games, I really love this series all the players are fantastic as is the story telling.
I know it was technically a mistake, but I actually really appreciate the bit at the end where SpeakerD and Fred just talk about the game and how they're playing it. Seeing that like discussion around the game and how they're building it together is like... it's heartening! It makes the game feel nice. Plus it just gives an example of a really good conversation with an ST, a useful template of a sort. Love you guys :]
huh, weird detail I noticed. The only reason that Bill and his buddies went into the swamp in the first place was due to the imprinting of some meso-american sigil of some sort in the mud.

I once described some giant spiders coming down from a roof but because I said it slowly, imbuing each word with the crawling creepiness of a spider just above, I had my players raving about what an amazing time they had.

@@brettwood1351 Given what we've seen, they're fine for now. Sybil's art is newly created, Bill might have some heirloom tools, but the tools are still in use, smelly, and not pretty. Aside form that, the oldest thing he owns of note is probably either a gun, or a smelly RV. Then we have sportball boy who traded bat guano to an unclassified flavor of supernatural for an edge in sportsball.
So they are VERY safe right now from grabby hands. They don't even have much that regular thieves would go out of their way for, let alone Parker. At least for now.
I cannot wait to see how the artists draw Cyrus' gun of incomprehensibleness.

Oh boy! For the new fans the Sphere of Prime in Mage the Ascension is the study of raw creation and the energy that fuels the Universe. Prime is the study of Quintessence or Mana if you're an old timer Mage. Literally without the Sphere of Prime *Nothing in existence will work.* It *is* what makes the universe work. With Prime magic, the mage can change the flow of universal energies to create, destroy and reshape reality around them as he or she sees fit. While the other Spheres influence the actual stuff of creation, Prime controls the power from which they all spring.
The Sphere of Prime is immensely powerful but useless on its own you need the other spheres to make it work. It is also the hardest for Mages to comprehend due to its nature as the fundamental force that makes the universe work. Combine Matter and Prime to create constructs like a Green Lantern, Forces can make a car run without power, Correspondence can make items you enchant teleport people,
At Low Levels • a Prime Mage can sense magic around them, see the weaving of the etheric threads and they can imbue an item with a bit of the Mages personality into it and create illusions/holograms. They can also attempt to negate or counterspell some magic so long as they have a basic understanding of what type of magic is cast.
At Mid Levels • • a Prime Mage can now enchant objects with magical power from coins to swords to guns or anything you desire, your only limit is your Imagination. This is the required level needed to create something from nothing if you're using Forces, Life or Matter Magic

At Master Levels • • • • • You have become a Literal God as you can now create or unmake anything or everything around you. Body, Mind and even Soul. At this level you can negate and even nullify Paradox with your own Willpower or even prevent a Mage from casting spells entirely, awaken other mages, and you can manifest your own Avatar into reality at this level. Your enchantments at • • • • • are also Godlike as you can now enchant objects or people to break the fundamental laws of reality. At this level the DM cannot stop you anymore as you can reject the DM's reality and substitute your own.

I love how much of this particular Awakening session could be seen as the theme of Mage as a whole. The dichotomy between what Parker believes treasures/collecting is for and Cyrus's definitely vibes the same thematic wavelength as the Traditions vs The Technocracy.

I find it interesting just how wide of a setting net all of these Awakenings are throwing out. Bill Morgan ran into an alien that could be a ton of things, plus agents of the Technocracy. Parker seems to have a met a mage, or someone who knows about them at least (talking sleazy suit man, not his avatar). Sybil got attacked by a bloody Toreador of all things. Samson already knew about sorcery and was using it to play basketball, he's just getting a majorly upgraded version of what he had before.

@HalfTangible Tzimisce are also actually rather keen on artistic stuff, especially when it involves body horror (which Sybil is known for). They basically worship their ability to sculpt flesh - it would make sense for them to seek out artists with that sort of vision.
Also, dude felt *too* polite and "well dressed" (in an old-fashioned way), which fit a Tzimisce way more than a Toreador. A Toreador wouldn't be caught dead in anything less than the height of modern fashion, no matter how old they are.
Hell, speaker described him as "perfectly sculpted", and that's one of the two ways a tzmisce tends to end up - you either get eldritch flesh horror or inhuman and uncanny beauty.

The products from Ogre are really some of the freshest, most creative things I've seen in a while, and I can't but marvel at your ability to put up more great content.
P.S: Parker could've used his moment of omnipotence to trap the other wizard in his antique mirror, but that's just an alternative in the near infinite things you can do in this game, and I love it.
This and Bill's intro were definetly my favourites. This definetly feels like a "classic world of darkness story".

What an awesome premise for a mage. An antiquarian who's dreams of holding the greatest collection of forgotten lore, trinkets, and artifacts is crushed under mundanity until awakened by a cosmic being doing much the same. And then years upon years of lost ambition come flooding back in a moment of pure being to announce his intent to become "The collector"

Fredrik Knudsen's character is bursting with the sort of bitter resentment that can only come from someone who knows what its like to live in a medium-sized-city suburban hell to make their parents happy.

That doesn't mean that I resent my family for it or wasn't thankful to have them in my life, but sometimes you're stuck somewhere you can't grow but feel obligated to stay or incapable of leaving.
I'm saying that to help you empathize and understand the character. If you still think that sounds like a toxic mindset, then congratulations. That's the whole point of this character in a story about flawed characters.

Yeah, the rest are just sort of eccentric but otherwise pretty chill for the most part (even Samson, despite being the most overtly aggressive/confrontational member of the gang), but Parker's clearly got years of bottled up frustration and resentment to work through...and now he's awakened to limitless cosmic power.

Prime seems like the most like candidate if you ask me. Antiquities and all that. The shackled city bit makes me feel more like space than anything else, but it could easily be matter or spirt too. The transmutation of living flesh is definitely life. Granted, I played a different version of mage.

I assume if he said he already have plan for what his avatar is like the entity in the clock would be it own thing, but since Frederic did not have plan for his avatar Speaker D just make the being Parker avatar.
Parker is possibly the most interesting of the cast, because I feel there is a lot still to learn

It is a horror game in 'World of Darkness' after all. As someone that has played WoD a ton, I was so excited that Fred leaned into the Dark Candy that Speaker threw at him. The complexity of the character that formed in a simple hour of gameplay is mind-blowing. He's obviously enjoying himself.
