    This was really handy. I'm thinking about going for an FL2 soon and have been trying to get my head around the different trim levels. Definitely looking towards the HSE or HSE Lux after this.

    I have a black HSE, one of the first things I did was fit an xtrons head unit, the factory fitted one was not great.
    Absolutely love mine, great off road and it will tow anything!

    Great vid , good to see the comparison . I got hold of an FL2 SD4 LE Sport in santorini black , it doesn’t have electric seats or arm rests but it does have full dynamic body kit and 2 tone leather. Best car I’ve ever had . Not sure if the front spoiler will be good for off roading though ! Also needs an infotainment upgrade.

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips
      @FrenchiesRoadTrips  Год назад +1

      Thank you! 🙂🙏 The two tone leather is great, looks very smart! Not many of those about. Light off roading might be ok, just be careful on those approach angles 🙂 Yes the built in system is pretty out of date now, we tend to use our phones for maps and music but there are options to update it 📺

      Hi can you tell me is the Sport LE spec has a firmer suspension? And would this effect the ability to drive over bumps/ off road.

    My 2011 XS SD4 must have had a lot of extras when first bought since it's got panoramic roof, spoiler, body colour mirrors, washers, armrests etc. Only difference from HSE seems to be radio and memory seats.

    Hi Tim?, John from Australia. I see you hav a SD4. Do you think it’s worthwhile going for the SD4 over the TD4?

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips
      @FrenchiesRoadTrips  Год назад +2

      Ahh that was the previous owner 😁 We did have the SD4, recently sold to a new owner. It was probably the best car I had ever owned. I found driving Bens the manual TD4 pretty heavy on my knee when changing gears. Traffic here in the UK is pretty busy so having the automatic was great. Performance wise, you get 190BHP in the SD4 and 150BHp in the TD4. Make sure to keep up with maintenance schedules and the car will be great. 🙂

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips
      @FrenchiesRoadTrips  2 года назад

      Ahhh very good 🙂 It’s interesting through the trims what little things were added. Even the top spec Metropolis which came out in the last facelift still had optional extras! On cars today it’s all through an iPad and controls are becoming non existent, followed by updates and more of a computer than a car 🤣 That’s why we love the FL2 😁 Hope you enjoy yours!

    Can some XS variants have the arm rest or just HSE? Deal breaker me as i have bad neck pains and my best arm position is when they’re rest and low on the steering wheel.

      @@FrenchiesRoadTrips thanks. Have you thought about doing a running cost video? Also would high mileage put you off on this type of car?
      Also any tips for getting best price with insurance. I’m 25 and have had lowest quote as 1.8k before monthly interest 🤣
      Have lots of questions haha

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips

      @@lukeferguson9010 So found out looking at the Freelander 2 brochure for the facelift version having arm rests in an XS or GS was an option but only with Napoli leather. They were fitted as standard in the HSE 🙂 We could certainly cover costs! We have a live stream on the 1st October from 5pm to 6pm so will try to cover it.
      High mileage isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just as long as good service history. Bens has nearly done 200,000 miles and still going strong 💪
      With insurance it’s tricky, we have ours with a multi car cover. But I remember starting out on a black box, it’s not cheap I know 😞 definitely shop around and make sure the cover is right for you. Do you need breakdown, key cover etc…
      No worries 😁 happy to help!

    Thinking off swapping my vw Tiguan for a freelander 2 would this be a mistake ? Would you Recommend freelander 2
    I’m looking at 2 at the moment 1 is a black & white 2013 40k .. the other one is a gs 62k 2014 both have full service history ? Any advice…

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips
      @FrenchiesRoadTrips  2 года назад +3

      Hello! We absolutely love the Freelander 2 🥰 By far it’s been the best car we have ever had. It provides practicality and great off road experiences.
      We would recommend good service history and ensuring that the oils in the rear differential and Haldex coupling unit are replaced regularly.
      These vehicles are sensitive to tyre wear making it particularly expensive when needing a new set. This is due to needing all four tyres replacing as differences in tread depth can cause damage to the differential.
      A common problem will be door actuators/locks. Very prone to failing which can cost around £90 to replace if doing the job yourself and buying genuine parts.
      Very recently our 2012 HSE model with 121,000 miles has had its DAB module and Alternator replaced. This later turned out to be a bad earth but an easy fix fitting a new earth cable.
      On our 2011 XS model with 176,000 miles, it recently had the rear crankshaft oil seal replaced. This involved the gearbox being removed and a new clutch fitted along with the oil seal. This particular job is rather tricky and can cost around £800/1000 if taken to a garage.
      We carry out engine oil services every 6months and replace the filters where needed.
      There are great social media groups for these vehicles on Facebook which we are part of. Providing advice and suggestions on any problems you have. The groups also have members that run Green Laning trips and day trips exploring the beautiful country side 🙂 Some videos on our channel will show this.
      It’s a difficult one to say if you would be making a mistake swapping to the Freelander 2. I guess it depends on what you would like to do with the vehicle.
      Before you buy, check the service intervals, ensure everything works on the vehicle as it should, windows, sun roof (if fitted), doors, radio, terrain response (if fitted). Take the car on a good test drive too. There are many good examples out there!
      Good luck! 🙂

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips
      @FrenchiesRoadTrips  Год назад +1

      Hope you enjoy it! 😁 Won’t have height adjustment for passenger side or tilt for drivers side. Passenger will only go forward and back. Drivers should have memory function with ability to go forward, back, up/down and lumbar support.

    • @FrenchiesRoadTrips
      @FrenchiesRoadTrips  Год назад +1

      @@rgfromkl3594 That’s very strange. The seats physically wouldn’t be able to tilt due to there construction. It’s something unfortunately Land Rover didn’t consider with the Freelander 2 🙂 If you send us a link to an add can check it out 👍
