  • A update of my two carnivorous plant outdoor bog barrels as we prepare for winter. You will see the plants have been cut back and some have formed hibernacula ready for winter.

Love the videos, full of good info. A while ago you were trying different growing media, I'd love to see a follow up video on how that went. Looking forward to your future videos.

Sure thing, that is something I hope to reveal in spring. I have now got trays with different peat free media in and trialling it on different plants. When they come back after dormancy I will create a video of results!

Love the barrel! What do you do for the winter? Insulate the barrel? Cover with frost cloth or just let them be? I’m in zone 8b so we don’t get long hard freezes but cold enough that it scares me. 😊

I don’t do anything over winter. They will freeze solid or be under a couple of inches of snow. But usually they will thaw by midday, it doesn’t effect any of the plants. Feel free to check out my latest blog post on my bog barrels on my blog: The Carnivorous Greenhouse
