Any good trombonist should recognize that outro! I've played that in a few auditions (although the second movement is my favorite movement). Intro was also fantastic, looks like you worked hard on it.
Somebody needs to assemble a brass brand using only budget instruments. Mix it up a little by switching everyone's preferred roles with ones they're least capable of. A bit like Portsmouth Sinfonia.
Bugler's Holiday - one of my favorite trumpet feature pieces. Simple enough (at perhaps a slightly slower tempo) for intermediate trumpeters to play decently, yet still challenging enough for professionals to show off their skills. A really fun piece to both play and listen to. Nice job on the recording, Trent. Keeping all of those staccato notes together isn't easy. Oh, that's an interesting trumpet, too.
Keeping the staccato notes together is fairly simple with a solid click track. ;) This is definitely a great choice for an intro about a decent quality instrument in a sea of crap. I love everything about the piece, including the implied reference to the busman's holiday trope.
Great playing as always. I believe the rose brass leadpipes resist corrosion, because in brass, red rot occurs when the zinc degrades. With less zinc, less red rot. I read that somewhere.
I found your channel from your pocket trumpet video and have been subbed I got one for Christmas also you do a great job on your videos you deserve more subs and views
As far as the rose brass lead pipe goes, it actually does make a difference compared to the regular yellow brass. Not only does rose brass give it a little bit warmer tone, but it's also corrosion resistant and less likely to get corroded as opposed to your basic yellow brass
Once the cheap trumpet 'gives up the ghost' as a trumpet, one can possibly use it as a bugle, or have it made into a nice decorative desk/end table lamp. Or just use it as a decorative wall hanger. 😉 🎺
I've got the windsor trumpet from amazon that is about the same price. I did the abrsm grade 1 trumpet exam with this instrument and passed with a distinction. I think I will run out of ability before the trumpet does.
Variations are not unique to cheap instruments. In my experience, two new bach strad 37's can sound and feel very different. But that's probably because they are hand made.
I think all brass are hand assembled - what differs is the conditions in which the workers operate. I imagine the people who assemble these cheap trumpets have certain quotas to fill, and so their focus is on quantity.
Trent I play saxophone but I just can't wait for your brass reviews. No brand snobbery.... terrific! My saxes are Trevor James Chinese and I can't outplay them.
hey trent! i’ve been loving the channel lately. i would love to see more trombone related content, it’s always interesting. thanks and keep up the good work!!
Can you do a video explaining what the real differences are between a cheap beginner/intermediate Trumpet like that or like the Singers day and a Professional level Trumpet like a Bach Strad or something that costs like 5 times as much?
Highly interesting Mr Hamilton, and it would be even more interesting if you could show us next up varieties trumpets, if you could of course, professor.
Nickel silver is clear coated plated nickel . Silver plating is just that, silver without any necessity of clear coating . Different look for sure . should be easy to tell . what say you ?
@@TrentHamilton First of all thank you for replying! Great that they are on the list! I look forward to seeing it. Do you have a trupet that fits it currently? Anyways good luck with that. Keep on being awesome. I really like the way you do your intros nowadays.

Great video! Questions: have you had any trouble playing high (G/A/C?) on this? How about slow valves? AFter playing a Mendini for 6 months, I've started to have troubles with all the values getting slow, even though I've washed it completely, lube it daily, tried different oil, etc. And they show light scratching .....
TRENT, FOR A LOW BRASS PLAYER, YOU PLAY BEAUTIFUL TRUMPET.
I believe he is or was primarily a cornet player
Well he started on cornet
He plays the better instrument, euphonium! Trumpet is rly cool tho ngl
As a woodwind player I concur.

It doesn't come to my mind

@@james_subosits Thanks.
I bought a mendini trumpet over a year ago and it works just as good to this day
Trust me buddy, exactly what I thought but that literally split in 2 pieces after 4 years
I always had issues with my valves with mendini trumpets lmao
Cheap Mendini's have too much backpressure and difficulty on the very low end of the scale. I'd stay clear.
You should buy an American Marching Tuba/ Contra. Like if you want to see him do it.
because everyone has about 4 grand lying around
@@FreezingGamer1 Shiller makes a pretty good one for around $1000! I play one and its blissful
Yeah... Don't have that sort of money lying around.
Trent Hamilton a (trumpet style) marching euphonium/baritone would be cool too
Toby Sturgell perhaps a Wessex tuba heard they’re great for the price

We had Bugler’s Holiday as a euphonium trio for our Christmas Concert. Glad to hear it again!
AT 72, I STILL CAN'T COME ANY WHERE NEAR THAT LEVEL OF PLAYING.
Nice performance both for intro and outro an really exhaustive review (as usual) thank you so much and happy new year Trent.

Steakhouse John I agree and it’s odd that a $3000 instrument can still be so inconsistent with others just like it
The stand they give you is a clarinet stand
Sounds very good!
Wasn't ready for that accent

Hi Trent, I was wandering about what size Trumpet mouthpiece you use? I use a Schilke 22.

Goodday Trent, is it possible that you review the KGU Brass heavy or medium valve caps? And could you review the KGU Brass mouthpiece cone. Please?
It's on my list to review. They sent me this stuff a long time ago, but I didn't have a trumpet that fitted the valve cap kit properly.

How does this trumpet compare to the Jean Paul trumpet that was reviewed a while ago?
Jean Paul is superior. Probably not as visually appealing, but the QC is far better and that results in a better experience.
how about a comparison between valve oils?
