I miss the days when devs planned around the tech limitations at the time the game was being made. Optimized to run on whatever was most common at the time. Now games just get released in an unoptimized mess most of the time and we're lucky if they even do a comb over of optimization within the first couple years. Hence why you need more and more vram on your GPU and now more ram in general. It really is a sad state.
@ryanwilliams5705 they still plan around the limitations of the tech. They have just become much higher. The PS5 and XBox Series X have 16 GB of shared RAM between CPU and GPU. So devs will utilize as much as they can to make their games look the best that they can. So you already have high memory use in 1080p. Higher resolution takes more VRAM and so does raytracing so you need more VRAM. This wouldn't be an issue if GPU manufacturers didn't cheap out on the VRAM and just put at least 16GB on everyone.
@@Ninjaeule97 possibly. I know I've seen games launching more and more frequently chewing through my 16 gigs of GPU memory without any issues @ 1080 ultra. The point I was making is that those same games (when devs bother to) within a year or two and become more optimized, only need 10-12 GB of GPU memory. So why not just release it that way instead?
@ryanwilliams5705 cause they want to release the game at the same time for PC and consoles. They optimize their game for consoles first cause the PS5 and XBox Series X are pretty similar and there is only one version unlike for PCs where there are thousands and just released that same version for PCs as well. Then after release when PC gamers complain about bad performance, they take the code that originally was optimized for consoles and optimize it for the PC. In some way, it's a smart move since people who buy their games on release or even preorder it are the least price-conscious so they are more likely to have a high-end system that can even run the not optimized version pretty well.

@@LeftClickMage 90 gigs is more than enough, but getting a Mac depends on what you're studying. For the price of that Mac Studio you could get a Windows/Linux machine with a 14900K (albeit a weaker CPU), 4090, 128GB of RAM, provided you build it yourself.

Should I stay with the rx 6800 or get another GPU. PS: i know my CPU is outdated but currently I just want to upgrade my GPU.
It’s also because most 8Gb DDR5 sticks are single-rank while 16GB+ sticks are dual-rank. Single-rank DDR5 has half the bandwidth and barely even utilizes the entire DIMM bandwidth
If something like playing around with the hardware seems fun and you aren't afraid to work on it yourself, then build it. If you don't want the hassle of building and don't mind spending a bit more, get a prebuilt

People see these things and go oh ill go 3600 or ill go ddr5 6000! Some cpus prefer ddr4 3200 like the 13400f prefers it and will perform better on it believe it or not. @@LeftClickMage 90 gigs is more than enough, but getting a Mac depends on what you're studying. Engineering, design, anything to do with 3D modeling you should go with Windows and get a dedicated GPU. However, most other things, like art, a Mac will be better for.
For the price of that Mac Studio you could get a Windows/Linux machine with a 14900K (albeit a weaker CPU), 4090, 128GB of RAM, provided you build it yourself.
I have 32 gigs and i never utalized more than 16 gigs but its nice to have, tough that can come from the fact that i use linux instead of windows as the system only uses 800 mb on idle
I went from 4gb of ddr2 to 32gb of ddr5 and it was so refreshing to experience
4th time asking:
I want to Upgrade my PC so I can play games in 1440p (I also have to get a 1440p monitor). I currently have an Intel i7-7700K (overclocked to 4,4 GHz) and a rx 560. I was thinking to get a rx 6800. I also don’t want to get a NVIDIA GPU since they’re very expensive in my country, like 2 times more than the original price. Should I stay with the rx 6800 or get another GPU.
PS: i know my CPU is outdated but currently I just want to upgrade my GPU.
Do you think 64gb (32x2) 7200 MHz 32cl Is overkill for gaming? Even if i can buy them for 200€?
if youre just gaming then yes, it is overkill 95% of the time
(this is coming from someone with 64gb of ram)
200$? I would say go for it.
It’s also because most 8Gb DDR5 sticks are single-rank while 16GB+ sticks are dual-rank. Single-rank DDR5 has half the bandwidth and barely even utilizes the entire DIMM bandwidth
With a ryzen 5 7600x what gpu should i get for 1440p spending max €450
I agree but the build I’m doing rn is going to have 128 gigs of ddr4 because why not
me who still has 8gb ddr4 with a gtx1650 and ryzen 3600 😳
i paid 800 dollars for this prebuilt when i was in 5th grade 💀
@ZacksTechTurf can you tell me what the best Amazon prebuilt pc for is under 750$ for performance??
Hey Zach could you inform me more about Amd GPUs, I’m thinking about making the switch
I just use a 2x48 kit in all my builds now. Would use 2x64 if not for the fact they don't really exist.
Is Windows 11 really worth it for a gaming/streaming/general use rig, or is it better to stick to Windows 10 until we get better news?
I have 64gb ddr4 in my build but I only did that to fill the slots with RGB LOL.
I'm new to PC gaming and I'm considering buying my first PC. Should I buy a pre-built or research more and try to build it myself?
If something like playing around with the hardware seems fun and you aren't afraid to work on it yourself, then build it. If you don't want the hassle of building and don't mind spending a bit more, get a prebuilt
Should I get gigabyte g6 kf with 1tb storage a RTX4060
16 GIGS of ddr5 ram upgradable to 64 gigs and a 165hz 1200x1900 display or something else in its price range
And I can't build 1 cuz I'm 13 and my mom does not allow to build 1 my self also huge fan of u and love your videos❤
Actually can you tell me a good build as well maybe I could change her mind❤
Hey Zach, I’m starting to need more storage should I buy an external ssd or an internal ssd?
not zach, but if you don't need the file transfer speed, just buy hard drives instead
else, internal ones tend to be cheaper for the capacity
@@jefez75 that really helped thanks
I remember back when 8 gigs were supposed to be good enough
Not to mention 4 sticks of ram in ddr5 sometimes are unstable 2 is always recommended so start good from the begging
Me with 1 GB of DDR2 Ram: 💀
i can feel u , 4 years earlier i used a 1gb ram 2002 CPU . Core 2 duo . chrome lagged a lot after 5 tabs
oh nah
My first phone from 2015 can run any shit better than your pc
Not to mention the extra cost of DDR5 compatible motherboard and CPU is a couple hundred dollars.
I remember when 8GB was ok and 4GB was a starting to go out of phase
64 gb here ) better more for the Future. Most of my games + mods are still over 25-27gb ram + system.
I recently upgraded my ddr3 4gb to ddr3 8gb. Hell yeh.
Yes using to little is a bottlneck lol. Who cares if its not a massive difference its still a bittleneck and that will only further get worse over time. Now you do not need ddr5! Idc what anybody says my cpu likes ddr4 more always has its to close also for me to warrant it until i uograde next gen. 32gb ddr4 3600 is perfection just please check your cpu. People see these things and go oh ill go 3600 or ill go ddr5 6000! Some cpus prefer ddr4 3200 like the 13400f prefers it and will perform better on it believe it or not. So its all based on what you have. Something even the biggest content creators dont talk about.
I remember when 2gb was norm and 4gb is high now the ram is reaching to my phone storage💀💀💀
I'm regretting getting 8x2 kit because its simply cheaper but now I'm regretting that i should get 16x2 kit instead. and I'm only finished my budget build a month ago. 😵💫
i have a question, if i’m looking to upgrade my ram should i focus on increasing the total amount of GB or just RAM that runs at higher speeds? for reference i’m using 32GB of 6000mhz RAM (2x16GB) and have room for two more sticks
Most people have problems with 4 sticks of ddr5
POV me with a 8gb of ram computer watching 💀
