3D vehicles in 2D animation is always tricky. It's done all the time now, but rarely does it look right. The "toon" render is definitely the way to go. Good job.
This is incredible and exactly how I would make it if it were me that is. The mix of photoreal while still looking cartoonish and not too real is exactly my type of animation. I am not into animation but this video has fascinated me. The attention to detail that goes for the smallest of things in a scene that lasts for just a few seconds is something I didn't really appreciate at this level earlier!
This is a quite simple and elegant solution. Awesome realisation! Thank you for new interesting episode of your production diary if it can be called so)))
Thats amazing! Great work bro... In the ending where the cars turning if the shadow of the trees effect the cars man! I became mad! You can just use a gobo on top of the cars! It's just my opinion...you did a amazing work!! Love it!
one little thing I might change about the cars is adding some sort of randomisation to their position on the splines. the equal spacing between each car looks a bit too perfect. but other than that, this is a beautiful shot. Also I was wondering, if you ever think about using blender for npr rendered stuff for your film? especially with grease pencil there's a lot of cool things to do for an film like this one
This looks beautiful! But that's not all, breakdown is very detailed and easy to follow. I love your vids. I just wish I was good enough at drawing. Thanks for the great content you create!
really nice... beautifull stylized traffic over bridge... although I miss some trees wind & cloud movement, as in a kind of semiotics kind of visual grammar. thanks for the conceptual rambling that became the dialogue I was looking for... to grow a bit my own artsy experiments too. cheers from Rio
Awesome shot! Looks really great :) Maybe add some shadow from the trees to the cars coming around the corner at the other end of the bridge? Anyways, awesome shot - I'd like to see a whole movie!
Hey man 😎 I don't know if this is possible but I'd love to see you talk about *Summit of the Gods.* I loved your short film & since you're working on another climbing themed project, I think it would be great; even if it were patreon exclusive
This looks beautiful. However, if I may offer my observation, I'd suggest making the glass reflective and having the tree shadow on the road affect the car's lighting. Right now it looks like their value stays the same.
Very nice style! A quick tip, you could separate your matte painting into 2 layers (foreground with the road and trees and background with the mountains) and place them as 3D layers in After Effects to create a bit of depth when you add the camera movement
I saw a truck's roof clipping in to a pillar on billboard down the road as they travel away from the camera. Did anyone else notice? By the way, the job is still incredable.
eine frage, warum filmst du alles so over the shoulder mäßig? Is der less superior?
1. I find it boring to watch a 10-20 min video all in screen recording. I think it's more interesting seeing the physical interaction with the tools. A bit more like a behind the scene video. 2. I think the c4d lines work good. But Im sure the blender ones are good too 👍
Hi, amazing talent you have. Is there any chance you are going to make a roadmap or similar how to become animator? Are you planning to make your own course?
Bro you can make your own animation story 😃. It will be a great entertainment for us. And if your animation story is based on true story then it will be awesome 😃
Did you know feather3d sketch book after we draw on that software Can those models be taken and put into software like C4D aftereffects and used for 3D animations? Please suggest me if u know
Man, good work! Love this style, amazing graphics ❤❤ But the distance between the car in front is not the same. no one drives like this in real life. Maybe animation doesn't need it? Sorry, I'm not a pro
instead of masking the cars behind the bridge you could have rendered your 3d model bridge as blackbody as to only show the vehicle parts you wanted and all of the bridge would be rendered as alpha, I'm sorry if it does not make much sense I only use blender
This make sense, however the bridge is a drawn element and not 100% lined up with the 3d geometry. Masking it only took a few seconds as its a static shot anyways.
The timing of this upload is INCREDIBLE; I was JUST wondering about how to pull off a traffic shot in my own work. Thanks Olof Storm !
Oh awesome! Glad it was helpful!
"some germans clogging their way down to Italy". Italian here and I almost spilled the coffee over my computer. Amazing content as always!
I love when 2D and 3D come together in beautiful harmony.

It turned out super excellent!! 🙂
The amount of work that goes into something seemingly simple... humbling!

Glad you like it ☺️
The hardest part of this will be to resist pushing it over 7 seconds in the final cut after all this work
Haha yeah it will be a quick shot in the end :)
So cool
Amazing info! Thanks for sharing Olof!
wow.. you hand-animated all those cars in 3D for this tutorial. damnnnn.. lot of work
Thanks for sharing this, can't wait to see the finished film

Great explanation! I think the overall result looks amazing. Thanks!
one of my favorite channels..very cool tutorial...I keep wondering if I should hand draw the car animations. but 3d seems like the best option

Love your work ❤❤
Good idea!
Its lit🔥
Wow🤯
Really love it. Thanks a lot.🙂
XD The shade being thrown at Germans.
Extremely talented.
The most unrealistic thing about the traffic is that there are no karens on the road 😂😭 but jokes aside, beautiful work as always

fps of car animation? 24fps?
Yeah the cars more on 24, could experiment with dropping it down to 12 actually. We will see in the end :)
Gran genio!!

So sick! What’s the FPS for the 3D car animation? Wondering if it would look even more integrated with 12 FPS
Did you know feather3d sketch book after we draw on that software Can those models be taken and put into software like C4D aftereffects and used for 3D animations?

Hello thanks for that, Can you explain more about colors, rendering and exportations in photoshop and clips studio paint ?
How did you do the car dynamics? I can see them, like when the start and stop, or when they hit another car they sort of wiggle a bit
Oh that section is just hand animated :)
is your serie going to be posted episode by episode or the whole thing at once?, and when?
