I liked the "Show what you are going to learn, then break it down" approach in this video. Those who just want the tech can watch the first minute or two and get everything, and then us slow learners can spend 15 minutes following along with you. Best of both worlds.
I loved the lolwut contrast of Gootecks' "smooth up" Gillette ad being immediately followed up with the image of him looking disheveled as fuck and clearly having snorted crushed SFV discs as makeshift cocaine mere hours before recording.
Also getting used to holding a direction like back or down while jumping, like you hold back while jumping for axe kick, will help a lot if you have aspirations to play a charge character.
Thank you. I never used double tap before and have been getting frustrated cause of dropped combos online. Excellent explanation. Also I have a Killer Instinct XB1 arcade stick which I believe has a square stick base (not sure what to call it). Do circle stick base arcade sticks make DP's easier? Cheers.
hey guys, been trying to practice these combos... having difficulty landing the EX shoryuken after the light hurricane kick, does anyone know if this still works, in the corner obviously...?
Hey Gootecks I have a question! I'm a long time pad player, always wanted to transfer to stick but I don't know what to get :( SF4 kinda ruined me on the idea because my friend got me one of those giant ass arcade cabinet sticks (not sure what they were called) and it felt awkward and terrible. What are some good smaller sticks that would be more useful for someone like me to transfer to? Also do they make 6 button only sticks (instead of 8 button)? Just curious as I really don't know what I'm looking for, thanks!
+Anthony Balista I'm Gootecks but I can answer your question as a pad player. First off, you really need to ask yourself if you really want to invest money into a stick. The best sticks will run you 150+ USD. You get what you pay for. And also as a pad player, you need know that your execution will drop significantly when you switch to stick. It takes a lot of time and dedication to get just as good on a stick after switching from pad. I tried to transition but I didn't really work out for me, but I didn't practice as often so I'm sure it would have. People say it takes 1-2 months to get used to it. I did feel like my timing was a lot better on a stick than it was on a pad though. Keep in mind, people who play on stick play for different reasons. Main reason is preference. They want that arcade feel and experience like when they were younger. Some things are easier to do on a Stick than on a pad but it doesnt mean its impossible. If you feel like your execution is the reason why you are switching to stick, then ask a friend to use a stick for a bit. If not, I would order a cheap stick unless you have the money to throw at for an expensive stick and get used to it for a bit. Many pad players are just as good as stick players. I'm sure KnuckleDu is a pad player, so is Luffy, Smug and Snakeeyez to name a few. I've actually seen Smug plink on a 360 pad.
I Accept Visa Thanks for the reply ^_^ I just don't think i'll be able to keep up on a pad but I suppose you're right. I would really like it if they made a GOOD fightpad for this game, do you know if they're doing that? The ones for the original sf4 were really good...for about a week until the cheap ass plastic broke and they stopped working lol. Are there any cheap sticks that are still pretty decent for ps4?
+Anthony Balista I totally forgot. You can buy a mad Catz tournament edition (1) for around 50-90 dollars if you look on eBay or other places. They are for PS3 but they also work on ps4. However, it may not be compatible with SFV when it comes out but I know it works with ultra. That's your best bet. A lot of people still use them and they have nice Sanwa buttons on them. As for fight pads mad Catz has announced some for SFV but no release date yet.
+swifttiger he was probably teaching you about street fighter 4. which , in that game, you can use two fingers for the technique called, 'Plinking'. in street fighter 5 , "Plinking" no longer exists. so you dont have to do that 2 finger motion anymore. BUT here he is doing double tapping, wich works as a Pseudo Plink.
No i don't mean plinking or double tapping. I'm talking about how he said to use two fingers when pressing one button so that you're guaranteed to get the input(instead of using one finger and running the risk of not depressing the button) but I notice that here he doesn't do it.
+swifttiger He did say that in the fightstick tutorial video. It was probably before he showed his earlier technique for grabs (one finger across both lights).
How can they play the Beta all the time? Are the videos pre-produced? Does USA have permanent beta access? Do "important" FGC people (CC, Max, etc.) have permanent beta access? I just don't get it.
I really hope they fix the Story for this game with better Story Telling, Animations, Cut Scenes, and Endings for each character. Because MKX has it right now in those categories. SF4 I love, but hated the Story. SF5 looks good, but at this point I can only hope the over all game as far as Fighting, Networking, Plot, and Endings fit together and make sense. And I hope they bring back every character and make this Game the most Epic of All Street Fighters.
+Jay Starr yea but for max dmg in vtrigger its better to go for, jumping HK, s .hk, medium dp, super. but if you dont have super and you are in the corner go for, the above mentioned combo

Gootecks looks like they wake him up on Saturday morning, make him skip breakfast, and tell him he isn't getting paid in full for these tutorials.
LOL
Haha. True, but it doesn't matter. The camera is suppose to show his demonstrations for his lecture.
I loved the lolwut contrast of Gootecks' "smooth up" Gillette ad being immediately followed up with the image of him looking disheveled as fuck and clearly having snorted crushed SFV discs as makeshift cocaine mere hours before recording.
Keep up any and all instructional vids, Gootecks - you're a great and natural teacher.
you can combo off regular standing HK, into super, like a 3s hit confirm, or you can do DP after it if you get the timing down.
Also getting used to holding a direction like back or down while jumping, like you hold back while jumping for axe kick, will help a lot if you have aspirations to play a charge character.
I want more of these videos. Very helpful.
Please do more like this si fu gootecks

Gootecks is better than some of my teachers when it comes to making me understand certain things
man cant wait for steam beta to come out
as always. great video sir.
Do you recommend this stick? Thinking of getting one!
Excellent video 👌
Standing Heavy Kick can link into l.dp, m.dp, h.dp in SFIV
are these combos still possible I can't get light tatsu into ex dp
+Mark F. I dont think so. I been trying too.
+Mark F. can anyone confirm this? i also cannot pull this for shit
+Victor Padilha This is from beta and a few things have been removed including these combos I think. Google for updated release combos.
+Ghostdog_AUS Have these combos definitelybeen removed? Just spent a half hour trying to landlight tatsu into ex dp with no luck
I'm pretty sure they aren't there anymore check out bafael's video of ryu bnbs for some good combos
does this combo still work? i have been trying to go from light tatsu into ex uppercut and cant get it to chain.
You can only juggle after light tatsu with ex shoruyken you can juggle with medium kick?
hey guys, been trying to practice these combos... having difficulty landing the EX shoryuken after the light hurricane kick, does anyone know if this still works, in the corner obviously...?
What is Zangief's best punish from jump in and standing?
could you do something similar for ryu usf4? just got the game and sfV isn't out for ages.
FYI for people i don't think the light tatsu cancels into EX DP any more, tried it forever.

I Accept Visa Fair enough. Hopefully they aren't total garbage like their last attempt at fight pads lol.
I just got a PS4 today I pre ordered SFV but how do I get the Beta code?
Man you look like you already woke up lol.
but great video, love your tutorials.
Gootecks I watched your fightstick tutorial vid but I notice that here you don't use two fingers to input buttons. I'm confused.
+swifttiger he was probably teaching you about street fighter 4. which , in that game, you can use two fingers for the technique called, 'Plinking'.

yeah I know which has me confused now and I'm wondering if I should just rest how I input buttons since I'm not set yet.

preproduction.
+biohazard724 Thx.
Miss seeing you ryan, And sorry things may be so rough on you this year in 2020. It seems especially difficult for pisces :( hugs dood.
So, plinking is still a thing in SFV?
Can't land a tatsu into ex shoryuken, does this work on the present version?
I havent been able to get this to work either
I think it would have been interesting to show an alternative combo when you're too far away to hit the back hk. Good video for beginners though.
I wonder which character he's gonna main on SF5?
+Hyan36 He'll wait for SSF5 and pick Rose.
How is gootecks still able to play beta?
he probably recorded this weeks ago when it was available. They save up a lot of videos in bulk to keep us sated and to keep the content relevant.
when is the next time we can play the beta on ps4?
"in the fall" so I'm assuming within the next few weeks
biohazard724 bruhhhhhhhhhhh
Gootecks!!!
Your own commercial?
Street fighter V101 that's bro
2yrs later and I still can’t chain combos

+Nintentalk Radio Question: Will the combo you mention work in VTrigger mode?
+Jay Starr yea but for max dmg in vtrigger its better to go for, jumping HK, s .hk, medium dp, super. but if you dont have super and you are in the corner go for, the above mentioned combo
loved your vids but that max dood is on a streak ! i know ur gna hate me but hes insane when it comes to vid games 80$ bby signing off!
man double tapping feels weird to me...im gonna end up plinking even though it doesnt work.
I guess I'll just play Ryu then instead of Akuma
Ryu used to be so good
they really need to nerf that damage.
Wow bro, get some sleep, shower and shave asap rocky playa! Looking like you been on a SF V binger.
