Suggestion--put the rule edit in the video as an annotation, please!
Great video though, it taught my group really quickly!
No BS Guide maybe put a note in the video please, I learned how to play on your guide and was playing it wrong on TTS until someone corrected me that had played before. That said thanks for the video
Maybe move this info to the top of the description rather than the bottom? (Also, I'm still disappointed this channel didn't take off... but that's life.)
On the advice of our daughter, we got this at a Boxing Day sale in New Zealand. We played it with her once (our heads hurt learning the rules) but loved it. We needed some help with rules next time we played it, after she left and we found this. Fantastic! So straight forward - no stupid music, no extra dribble, no ʻcool dudeʻ rubbish. Clear, concise. Exceptionally well done! Why canʻt all instructional videos on RUclips be as brilliant as this? You should take a lot of pride out of all these comments and the number of people you have helped!!! Cheers from NZ
I would pin this comment if I didn't have to have the rule corrections comment at the top. Thank you SO much for your kind words, you made my day!
You deserve them! Had a game yesterday afternoon for New Yearʻs Eve - First time Iʻve lost :-(
Kia Ora !
The absolute relief when the video starts… and the video starts!
Finally a rules video for Castles of Burgundy that doesn't suck! Excellent job.
WOO, I'm happy to hear it because this game is awesome!
You are so very, very good at this. Please do this for all the games.
Thank you, you just made my day!
Yes please, most "rules" videos are painfull to watch , long winded and unclear, often loaded with tedious attemps at wit, and sometimes create more confusion than help, yours are top notch, fantastic, thanks.
Please, more videos! I would donate to a Patreon, and I think more people would too!
Thanks for the interest! No BS Patreon: www.patreon.com/nobsguide
you are great at this. its so refreshing to not have to deal with overly long skits or stupid filler. definitely subscribing.
Nice, basically illustrating the rulebook word for word with a video shot, good idea.
Because of the pace though, it's super hard to digest, I'd say it's worth it as a recap after reading through the rules by yourself, but simply watching a video might not be enough
OMG!!! This is the most concise explanation of how to play this game!!! Thank you!!! This will be required viewing for all future players who join in at my table lol!
Thanks a lot for this video. Tomorrow I will try this game together with my wife. I played the video .75 x speed and then it was perfect pace for me.
Especially thanks for the time stamps. I'll need them tomorrow.
Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for, the no BS guide. Excellent !
I watched too many people talk and talk and never getting to the point.
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions on the rules of play. You have actively prevented fratricide.
I wish you still made videos. You were very talented at teaching!
Yeah mate, this is perfect. So many CoB videos skip the setup phase. You're my new go-to game explainer. Nice work!
Thank you so much, I'm really happy you enjoyed it!
I found this video extremely straightforward and simple to follow. Thank you!
Wow!!! I have watched many play through, you are by far the best!!! You should keep on doing this, very precise and easy to understand. Subscribed!
Just got the new version and was looking for a how to play. This worked very well.
Really perfect and concise. Great editing as well. Wish you had more videos!
Thanks for a great video. Definitely the best rules explanation for this game I've found.
This video is very well made. I had watched a different clip on how to play and afterward, I still had absolutely no idea how to play. Now, I think I have a general idea and understand most of the rules (we get the game tomorrow). It seems like a game I will have to play several times through to fully understand all of the game mechanics and properly strategize.
Thank you! Combined with the rule book, it helped us get the game started much faster than if we had spent the whole evening reading the rules. Such a great game btw :)
I always have a great time playing this one. Thanks!
Thank you, that is the clearest easy to follow guide I have seen to help introduce this amazing game.
This is excellent. So useful. Thanks very much for preparing this guide.
Excellent job! Love the camera work and editing.
Ive watched 5 different "How to Play" videos and this is the best one.
A guy online was selling a lot of games. I went for Secret Hitler, but with the price, I figured why not. I opened the box and closed it. This game is ranked so highly and I didn't want to give up on it. The video is perfect and makes the game not as intimidating. Thanks so much!
This rule is better than any other video I watched to learn how to play this game, good job!
I JUST GOT THIS GAME AND YES THIS IS TOTALLY WHAT I NEED! NO BS! Looking forward to more of your great work! keep it up the awesome work!!!
BS is the worst!
excellent tutorial, clear and precise...Thank you
Wow excellent summary. I just got this game for Christmas and when I introduce it to friends I think I'll just show them this rather than try to explain it myself. Love this format and keep the videos coming please.
I started making these videos so I didn't have to explain the rules anymore! I hope this video proves useful to you all.
A friend recently introduced us to Lords of Waterdeep, a pretty cool board game. And after we got done playing that, she mentioned, "you guys really need to play Castles of Burgundy, it's a blast with tons of replay-ability." So I bought the game this week and gave it a rip this afternoon at the house. Your 'No BS' video was instrumental in allowing my wife & I to pretty much have the game down after one play-through. Several times instead of consulting the rule book, we just referred to the very organized "tabs" you have bookmarked in the comments section. Super helpful.
Thanks for making this game fun from the get-go and ensuring that we didn't get discouraged from the first play through of a complex game. We'll be slowly introducing this to our friends now! Cheers from south Texas.
Just played for the first time and this was very helpful, and in such a compact length. Thank you!
Finally some straight to the point game tutorial! So tired of goofballs while I am trying to learn the game on the fly. Thank you!
Happy you liked it!
Nice, succinct, emphatic explanation! Thanks!
Thanks heaps! Have had this game for 6 months and have been daunted to learn it each time :D
You're so welcome, I'm always intimidated by new games. Now you can get it to the table!
Thanks for clarifying the rules! This is so very helpful. Found out some things I've been doing wrong like the player turn order and leaving goods in the depot when I can't pick them up.
Awesome explanation of a game that may seem intimidating. Such a great game!
Excellent guide! I'll turn to you first for future games I want to learn.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together! Very helpful!
You're welcome, I'm glad it was helpful!
Very well made tutorial. Fast, concise, and no BS!
Thanks a lot, Faris!
Great video! Perfect for learning or brushing up on rules after a while.
Thank you, Jim! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Great job, hope to see more videos. Clear, concise, and efficient.
More coming! Thanks.
I hope you'll come back with more of these videos. With watch it played, these are best rules videos online. In my opinion.
Hope you'll be back.
WOW! Just WOW! Well done!!!!! I subscribed within a minute of watching this video. WOW!
So glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the sub!
I love this instructional video! It's so well done!
This is really a no BS Guide....Very good.
Love your video. Really refreshing to see a straight to the point how to. Pace is nice, explanations clear. Can you please do Lancaster 😊
I'll add it to the list! Thanks a bunch :)
Just picked this game up and I have to say this is the best explanation of it I've found. Thank you so much!
You're welcome, hope you have a blast!
No BS Guide
Just played for the first time and it is my new favorite game!
No BS Guide question about the rules can I stack my workers like if I have two or be three can I change the dice +/- 2 or 3? Or do workers only get used one at a time?
Your videos are amazing! They make my life easier. Instead of explaining the rules to my friends, I just send a link to these videos before we meet up to play a game. Interestingly, I own all four games you've covered so far. Looking forward to guides for Agricola, Scythe, Terraforming Mars and Fields of Arle.
I am elated to hear it! I love board games and I want other people to love them too, but so many people are turned off by the rules. Let's change that!
😊you explain so well ! I will be following you !!
Very nice guide, thank you.
Best how to description on this planet!
Thanks for making this short and sweet! Buddy of mine sent me a link to a 30 minute one and I was hurtin through it!
haha No problem, Mark! I'm glad it helped you.
Excellent video! Helped a lot. Please make more Felt game videos. Ty!
This is awesome! Needed this when I first got the game.
Thanks, Christopher! Keep on gaming.
You are very good at it ! Keep up the good work !
Thanks a bunch! Keep on gaming.
really appreciate this style of guide (with credit to the authors of the rule book)! helped us start and enjoy this game with no confusion
I'm glad to hear that, love it.
Fantastic Tutorial !
Great video, please do more.
More videos like this please!
I just bought this game as my first board game for my Wife and I to play, we haven't opened it yet. I bought it as an impulse buy and didn't realize how complicated it is to start....might shelve it and find something a bit easier for our first game. That said, thank you very much for this video! It will come in handy when we decide to give this game a try.
Check out my video for Carcassonne; it would be a great first game! ruclips.net/video/d89u-gXjIVY/видео.html
Amazing explanation ! Please make more videos !
Thank you! Got another one in the works right now.
Stoked to get this one to the table. Thanks for the overview- a well produced effort! As much as I love watch it played, this was a better overview- I'm not going to realistically remember all the tiny rules from a video anyways.
It's hard to remember all the tiny details from a video, but hopefully this got the game to your table faster! Thanks.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Hey @BS Guide! I love your videos and just subscribed. Will you be planning to do more in the future? You have excellent camera work and editing and I hope to see more of your work.
I do plan on doing more soon! Thank you for the complements :D
Very helpful thank you
Excellent job. No BS indeed!
Really helpful; thank you!
Best video I've seen!
Great video, my compliments. I rarely subscribe to anything but I guess now it's one of those times
Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed!
Nice! Good explanation :)
Rules mistake at 9:01: Sell Goods. Not only do you get x amount of VP from each tile depending on the player number, you also get one silverling! (and only one regardless of how many goods you sold)
You are correct! Thank you for pointing this out.
Finally lol I hate how much filler there is in videos for teaching games. Subscribed. Please continue this.
Agreed. Thanks for the sub! The next video is already in the works.
This is great thanks
Good job!
Thank you!
I think I'm repeating many others on here who have congratulated you for such clear and concise instructions. From what I've heard from everyone I've spoken to people cant stand those instructional videos filled with "cool dude attitude" and HORRENDOUS music that makes you want to rip your ear drums out.
Great job. Thanks.
Glad you liked it.
Great job man! One note, during action #3: selling goods, you also get a total of one silverling in addition to the one point per player per good.
You are correct! I have clarified this in the description (I wish RUclips let you add text to the video itself, but alas it does not)
I've seen other videos do that.
Since March of this year, they've removed the ability to add text, unfortunately.
Your videos are great, are you ever going to produce any new material?
Excellent how-to-play tutorial. I guess you've beaten Rodney )
This video was A+
Thank you very much!
I know how to play the game, but I'm a simple man: *I see CoB, I click* 😁 nice video btw
This helped so much. Do you think you could do one for trickerion I’m struggling with it.
Hey Riley I'll see what I can do!
I now know how to play. Please and thank you.
That is fantastic, I'm glad to hear it.
Great video. Are the castle tiles the only tiles that can be played any time on your board, without having to touch a previously played tile?
Awesome video, thanks for taking the time!
One question: On the game board, in the 6 depots where the goods go according tot he white die, there are symbols indicating how to use them. One is the boat, which I understand. The other has a picture of the die and a + sign. At any point, can you use your action die to take the goods from the depot? Or are they only taken by placing a boat in your estate?
Thanks again for the great video.
They are only taken when you add a Ship tile to your estate. The other symbol is a reminder for the White die.
For you guys who don't understand, make sure you watch to the end.
im going to play this game for the first time. wish me luck.
Dedicate more time to these, your tuturials are really helpful :
Thanks, Tomasz!
I actually teached this to a group in our local board game cafe with wrong rules :S I've played this game atleast 5 times (most of them with my gf), every time playing with the WRONG rule of one die / turn, among other mistakes. So our turns went 1st player using only one die out of the two, then to player 2, 3 and 4 correctly on the shipping/player turn order, each using only one die, then the 1st player would use the 2nd die and so on :D Oops.
Thus every player bought more dark tiles from the centre, since everyone had twice the turns (and thus twice the opportunities to buy tiles) they should have actually had. I have no idea why I had played it wrong every time I had played it. Also at first games we made the mistake of clockwise turn order, with the first player marker marking the first player and then going clockwise which is wrong as well.
EDIT: Oops, we've actually played with reversed turn order too. I was sure that whoever uses the ships first will be the last player. So in our games the first player would be who was the furthest left and highest. :S wtf. I've never had a game played so many times with so many mistakes before. Wow.
Whoops! This is one of those games that has so many easily-missed rules. I wanted to clear some of them up with this guide, I'm glad it was helpful for you!
Best for two player ?...
4 players best config for me... all knowledge tiles in thé game...vs some (random) in a two players game
Why did you stop making these videos
Helpful tutorial but I’m still completely lost lol
Efficient with a capital E. Excellent work. :)
Thanks!
Looks nothing like the game I've recently bought!
I feel so dumb. I have no idea what is going on
I crave bullshit!!!
Nay. I...... CRAVE.... BULLSHIT !!!!!!!!
@nobsguide why are you inconsistent? 3.0 out of 5 does not flow. Perhaps say 3 out of 5 or 3.0 out of 5.0 in the future
Can you say all that again? lol
jeez this game is so complicated and the rules sometimes pretty obtuse. it takes forever to learn so many terms and what those things mean. phase, turn, action, round... where does the manual explain what is what? those words can be pretty similar, used synonymously in real life and require some definition ffs. thanks for the video, I wish it was a bit slower and contained a bit more explanation and even repetition.
