    Your consultant has done a remarkable job . Columns size seems to according to load not over steel designed in slab also. Nice work... ... Have a cup of coffee ☕ enjoy your job..♥️♥️

    What I found different in your column section drawings from ours is that the splicing of the rebars are shown just above the slab, while we avoid splicing in that region to satisfy ductility requirements. We tend to splice 50% of the bars in alternate floors at the centre of the column maintaining less spacing near the beam column junctions and the area just above the floor.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 года назад +2

      We always splice above slab. To be honest splicing in the middle sounds strange to me as in some columns there will be some moments acting there and normally you want to avoid splicing in these region. I have to check it as it's interesting for me, all Europe doing this way for sure and it's also easier for construction.

      @@SITENG As per earthquake resistant details mentioned in our codes, we splice 50% bars only in a floor which holds true upto 20mm dia bar. For higher dia, we use couplers (only that it should not come in column-beam junction as it vulnerable to shear) to maintain rebar uniformity and reducing steel wastage. As for 100% lapping in a floor ( which I saw in your video) , rebars are never spliced at the same location. Distance between bars are kept at a distance not less than 1.3x development length.

      @@SITENG To reduce the moment causing buckling, stirrups at the shear zone (near the slab supports)& lap location are densely spaced say at @100 c/c and in the middle @200 c/c.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 года назад

      I can't agree that you can reduce moment by using more stirrups. I agree that splicing all bars in one section is not the best, but as this is almost only compression at the bottom it's good and easy to construct. I am not sure about earthquake design, but germans do it and they splice at the bottom.

      Im form China.As a country having 9.6million square kilometres,China has listed a table of the anti-seismic grades for the structure. It is related to building height, structural form and seismic level expect and so-on. The rebars in the columns must be connected away from the floor. But the rebars of shear wall is deffernt in different seismic grade. Low anti-sesmic grades can be connected above the floor.Maybe seismic level expect is different in Europe.

    How do you check the position of rebar?

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 года назад +1

      Hi Moon Thu! Position is on the drawing so if the bars are laid properly (distancing) all should be fine. Sometimes where there is no info and you can see on the drawing that bars are not to be laid evenly (eg. extra top bars - top column) you can always check the distance on the Autocad/ Bluebeam etc. If it's position in terms of bottom, top, sides cover I am checking these with tape measure off the decking.

    • @kyelzin92
      @kyelzin92 2 года назад +1

      @@SITENG do you use the survey nails and spray painting to set out the rebar? how do you know if the position you set out is correct? do you just use a tape measure?

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 года назад

      Few times I used EDM to set a line which enabled fixers to measure (there was direction of rebar change as well), typically I don't set out for the rebar unless something is really unclear. Your tape measure should be well enough once your slab edges are correctly set out 😁
