- 8th video (and last) in the series of videos playing Sid Meier's Civilization 1, trying to win by sending up a spaceship (playing on the highest difficulty level).
In the previous video, I sent up the spaceship, in waiting for it to arrive I have some fun and try to attack my neighbors with high-technology advanced army units.
Getting some success in taking over the cities of my enemies before winning the game when the spaceship arrives!

This was a nice trip down the memory lane. I remember playing it in early 90's on my Amiga 500. As a kid, the exploit I found, was building United Nations first. Then I would nuke highly protected cities to destroy all troops in them in one go, take the city, and immediately sue for peace which they had to accept due to the Wonder. I would do this over and over again each turn, until victory.
that is a pretty cool tactic, they are forced to take peace with you and they always want to speak after you captured a city (or lost one) :) you can even sell buildings in their cities you take over to buy a new nuke :)
They will break peace deals after 1AD if you are the strongest player of all, they break it very easy but you are just one turn a
What a great playthrough! I never get tired of this game. Thanks for doing this!
Thanks you so much Christian WN for your comment, happy to hear. I never get tried of this game either. I'm going to play a bit of Colonization and after feel I master it a bit better hopefully do a video on that.
@@IntuneVitaDoctrina That sounds great!
This was a great series, thanks for posting it.
Civ1 was my favorite and not many people post full playthroughs of it.
Thank you so much, was my favorite game also, and maybe still is. It got it's limitation, but at least when I start to play I know it got an end. More modern games online often has no end, and bring in real money to improve, level up endlessly, etc... a lot of fun probably, but with my life style I just want to relax a few hours and then move on :)
Thank you for playing this. I played it at lunch time when I was in highschool. Never quite grasped all the mechanics and didn't have enough time to learn them (during lunch).
Glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun playing it :) yeah I didn't bother to learn either but I have played way too many hours when I was younger that I got to learn by doing :)
Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
Thanks a lot James for watching, yeah old game, strangely I still play it from time to time even if if it got its limitations
I did a maping CIV1 vs CIV2 all the units. And pretty much, every unit that exist in CIV1 exit in CIV2, a few have change name.
Sail change name to Caravel, Millita to Warrier,
Apart from that pretty much every category got one unit added.
Diplomat added Spy, 3 movment diplomat with a few special features (can plant nukes), and i think the diplomat have been a bit nerfed.
Caravan added Freight, its just a carvan with 2 movments.
Settlers got added Engeneer. Settlers with twice the work speed and also two movement. Apart from, R, I and M also O have as command.
Defensive troops got pikemen added, its a Phalanx with a added bonus against mounted units.
High movement unit got elephant added between Horsmen and Knight
Crusaider and Dragoons been added between knight and Armour.
High attack unit, Archer been added under Legion, Legion got a buf.
Howitzer been added at the top end.
War chips AGEIS cruser been added as a late war cruser, and Destroyer have been added as a late war Ironclad replacement. Battleship, transport, Submarine and Carrier is pretty much unchanged.
Galleon been added as a sail transport to close the mid game gap.
Fighter added stelth fighter
Bomber added stealth bomber
Nuclear added cruse missile at the bottom end.
There is also 6 new specialist unit, that do specialist things (mostly alternative infantry troops)
nice list, is Galleon replacement of Frigate or an addition?

For terrain types they are all the same. Just Arctic replaced with glacier in name.
Every terrain type have a A and B type resource .
So there basically is high in food, sheeld and traide.
A type
Oasis 3F1S, (dessert)
Buffalo1F3S, (plains)
Pheasant 3F2S (Forest)
Coal 1F2S (Hills)
Gold 1S6T (Mountain)
Game 3F1S (Tundra)
Ivory 1F1S4T (Glacier)
Peat 1F4S (Swamp)
Gem 1F4T (Jungle)
(and fish)
And the others B type.
Setlers R work as in one. Road and railroad.
Setlers I hat two levels, irrigation and farmlands, but the city can only benefit from farmland if there is a supermarket.
M works as usual, make mines of forest (or jungle)
Engineers have the O key, making mountains into hills, hills into i think its flats, and flats into grasland.. and grasland into hills.
It can also transform samps
Do you think you could win the game in any way playing EEE7?
Emperor, Earth, England, 7 civs? The ultimate challenge
Oh I have waited for this comment :) thanks, I already have one game to publish, it is more or less ready, so my next game will the one you mention above here :) I actually often wins, it is difficult, but I go quickly to north America and establish myself there, and yes you be late in all, but in the end usually win :)
