@olneymaryland77 Hail To The Thief is an incredible album, definately in my top ten, my second favorite Radiohead album. Kid A just absolutely changed my life and musical taste, and continues to do so. Everything Radiohead does is incredible.
@Moxin667 "dancing with the devil" has depressing lyrics, because it was tech's interpretation of the beat. the piano lead is a classical song also used in a friskie's catfood commercial (which wasn't depressing at all.) "kid a"'s lyrics were, in fact, pulled from a top hat. bottom line - lyrics are how the writer feels when he/she hears the music, but we as listeners wouldn't necessarily agree with the lyrics if we heard the music without them.
i had tix to this show and i didnt go.. i had a rough day at work that day and didnt feel like do anything but going home and collapsing.. of course now i regret that i didnt go
@justinorville yeah, like when I need a bit more optimism I always listen to in rainbow, it cheers me up. When I feel angry at something I tune in to HTTT, and for some trance-like feeling I like Kid A.
@eclecticderby That's the great thing about Radiohead, everyone has a different favorite album because they such a wide range of styles they've covered. personally, I love everything they've ever put out.
@TheBlackSpider82 I understand what you say. Thom ussually doesn't sing that line. BUT, there's an early version where he does sing it. Its actually a great version. The audio is kindda crappy but still enjoyable! I can't post the link here, but you can easily find it as "Kid A (early)".
@Pyrofries The melody/mood on the album is completely different, and represents the actual feel of the song. Thom said himself that he distorts his voice on the album because of how depressing it is, or something along those lines. Before talking about the feel of a song, please understand the feel of said song.
@Moxin667 Yeah, because that's all that contributes to the mood of songs. Because melody and movement don't make part of the feeling as the words (most of which were drawn out of a hat, anyway) do.
@Moxin667 who cares what the lyrics are about? the vibe of the tune is what's important...if you and i found an uncharted island, we'd both have different opinions as to what buildings should be where in the event it would be a city, and after the city was built, every subsequent person visiting would see it exactly the same. think of this hypothetic island as the music and the buildings as structure and lyrics. what's more important, the buildings or the land supporting it?
@rkm4myu Just figured I'd mention that I lol'd when I read "tough guy". Shortly thereafter, I was confused as to why exactly I was being called a tough guy.
this seems like an awesome setlist. i love the camera work..kinda invasive like he doesn't realize we're behind him. anyone have a link to some complete video or audio?
@rkm4myu You realize a simile has no ie at the end, and is in fact a metaphor right? Kind of like how a square is a rectangle. There is a specific quote by Thom himself online saying that he distorted the sound on the album and plays this song upbeat live because he finds it very sad and uncomfortable to sing. So basically, I don't actually have to chill with Thom Yorke. And no, I'm not done, I just have other interests besides youtube arguments. Sorry.
@rkm4myu Skip the metaphors, and tell me, if someone took immortal technique's dance with the devil and set it to cheerful music, would it be a happy song? I really hope you don't think it would be.
@Moxin667 After all this, all I can say is enjoy being sixteen, dude! That feeling of being an all-knowing, omniscient entity only comes around once! Enjoy graduating from high school, and actually having to MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF.
so thank you for proving my point. because kid a's lyrics are complete nonsense thrown together at random, they're open to interpretaion. by the way, my first post was a similie, not a metaphor.
@justinorville Radiohead is my entry point to British music, and I learn to listen out for good music. Brit bands are mostly always better - bands such as the XX, wild beasts, Arcade Fire, and artists like Damien Rice, have more depth than most of the American counterparts. Too bad in my country the general music is cluttered with US bands (read: Linking Park)
@Pyrofries No, that wasn't at all redundant, ffs. Do I need to explain simple English to you? Here I'll break it down in other words: Before you try talking to someone about something (anything) you should know what you're talking about. Get it now? Yes? Good. Also, if Thom's voice distorted in that way sounds upbeat to you, you have other issues. But good job misunderstanding Thom's intended meaning. Obviously you're done arguing bro, you have no argument.
@Moxin667 I'm sorry, but "Before talking about the feel of a song, please understand the feel of said song." Redundancy? I guess it's down to how you interpret the music. The track from the album always sounded upbeat and child-like to me, not dark or depressing. I'm done arguing
I've fallen in love with this song live, once again. I keep revisiting it.
Beautiful song, brilliant album, wonderful performance!!!
Agreed! I’m a diehard Metal fan and I adore Radiohead - Kid A will always be timeless to me, a true personal favorite
Best Radiohead album ever, guys.
@olneymaryland77 Hail To The Thief is an incredible album, definately in my top ten, my second favorite Radiohead album. Kid A just absolutely changed my life and musical taste, and continues to do so. Everything Radiohead does is incredible.
Thom Yorke has the notes on the keyboard color coded for individual parts how nice :)
Poor kids....
Lovely, joyous version, love this energy
If I ever witnessed this song live I would happily die right there.
I'm going to put it straight and simple. Radiohead's Kid A is the best album ever created.
I looooove this song so much
@Moxin667 "dancing with the devil" has depressing lyrics, because it was tech's interpretation of the beat. the piano lead is a classical song also used in a friskie's catfood commercial (which wasn't depressing at all.) Definitely! Kid A is one of their TOP most album, up there alongwith The Bends IMO! :)
as Craig David once said, 'what's your flavour'?
i had tix to this show and i didnt go.. i had a rough day at work that day and didnt feel like do anything but going home and collapsing.. of course now i regret that i didnt go
Great footage
oh! este no lo había visto... thanks destor....
Love this song.
That was fantastic, thanks so much for sharing!
i tink i was in the pit at this show, thanks a lot for the upload
@justinorville
yeah, like when I need a bit more optimism I always listen to in rainbow, it cheers me up. When I feel angry at something I tune in to HTTT, and for some trance-like feeling I like Kid A.
im into the yettobereleased situation, but I was in the pit at this show!...it's what finally pushed me into Radiohead
im so glad my brothers told me about radiohead
The video is from the in house setup. Apparently the story goes that one of owners of the venue got the tape.
that mist is awesome
@eclecticderby That's the great thing about Radiohead, everyone has a different favorite album because they such a wide range of styles they've covered. personally, I love everything they've ever put out.
I love what they did to the guitar in this song. It reminds me of Trentemoller's 'Evil Dub'.
I'm with you, pal!
Just enjoy the music guys, sheesh.
Genius
@joschajusten I mean the lines "I slipped away. I slipped on a little white lie". It never seem to be sung when they play it live
@Pyrofries The melody/mood on the album is completely different, and represents the actual feel of the song. Thom said himself that he distorts his voice on the album because of how depressing it is, or something along those lines.
Before talking about the feel of a song, please understand the feel of said song.
@eclecticderby Exactly man. They use a wide pallet of emotions.
wow a great video ;D
definatly
I wonder why the first few lines are never sung on the live performances...
come on kids!!
@Moxin667 Yeah, because that's all that contributes to the mood of songs. Because melody and movement don't make part of the feeling as the words (most of which were drawn out of a hat, anyway) do.
@NIN99Koala that was beautiful man.
@VGEric I think its a novation midi controller keyboard, sorry I dont know the model
@Havenscope Best album ever. Period ha. In my opinion.
@eclecticderby arcade fire is from canada
@rkm4myu Just figured I'd mention that I lol'd when I read "tough guy". Shortly thereafter, I was confused as to why exactly I was being called a tough guy.
@JBrazosCole you know your kind of right i just realized that too
this seems like an awesome setlist. i love the camera work..kinda invasive like he doesn't realize we're behind him. anyone have a link to some complete video or audio?
@rkm4myu You realize a simile has no ie at the end, and is in fact a metaphor right? Kind of like how a square is a rectangle.

So. Much. Gear.
@temporary01890
no one can ever explain it. Either you love it or u dun. Music is as such.
@Havenscope best album ever.
@rkm4myu Skip the metaphors, and tell me, if someone took immortal technique's dance with the devil and set it to cheerful music, would it be a happy song? I really hope you don't think it would be.
@temporary01890 well honestly its for the ambience and the shoegaze-based sound.
@NIN99Koala
Wonderful.
@Moxin667 I don't see how the song Kid A is depressing, really...
@Moxin667 After all this, all I can say is enjoy being sixteen, dude! That feeling of being an all-knowing, omniscient entity only comes around once!
Enjoy graduating from high school, and actually having to MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF.
@KsideHb Someone knows how to type pitchfork into their address bar...
Ahah very right you are. :)
so thank you for proving my point. because kid a's lyrics are complete nonsense thrown together at random, they're open to interpretaion.
by the way, my first post was a similie, not a metaphor.
2:20 theres always time for every thing
@justinorville
i somehow prefer in rainbows and HTTT
que cancionsita vale! :O
@justinorville agreed dude
@justinorville not that i dont love Kid A, but im gonna have to say Hail to the Theif is my fav
Anybody know what Thom's using to control the samples (I'm assuming they're samples)?
@justinorville
Radiohead is my entry point to British music, and I learn to listen out for good music. Brit bands are mostly always better - bands such as the XX, wild beasts, Arcade Fire, and artists like Damien Rice, have more depth than most of the American counterparts. Too bad in my country the general music is cluttered with US bands (read: Linking Park)
OHHH MMYY GOD!!!!! SSOOO..... GOOD... HHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG
@xxxAndreyaxxx He acts overly happy when he sings it because it's one of his most depressing songs.
@Pyrofries No, that wasn't at all redundant, ffs. Do I need to explain simple English to you? Here I'll break it down in other words: Before you try talking to someone about something (anything) you should know what you're talking about. Get it now? Yes? Good.

Obviously you're done arguing bro, you have no argument.
@Pyrofries I guess you don't know what the lyrics are/ mean, really...
@Moxin667 nice, i'm a funny guy...glad to see you liked it ;)
@temporary01890 Listen to the album version its better.
@Moxin667 You poor thing, you're so misunderstood!
@Pyrofries Way to have no argument.
hahaa 1:26 to 1:38 colin is awkwardly staring at phil and he finally looks up like wtf
also hail to the thief has awesome songs like we suck youngblood and there there
@Pyrofries Terrible attempt at amoging with no context, nice!
@Pyrofries Did you really just try to use ad hominem? Looks like someone has a bit of growing up to do himself.
haha its good that you love this song because its fucking brilliant but theres not really any guitar in it, just bass guitar.
@Moxin667 I'm sorry, but "Before talking about the feel of a song, please understand the feel of said song."
Redundancy?
I guess it's down to how you interpret the music. The track from the album always sounded upbeat and child-like to me, not dark or depressing. I'm done arguing
why do you want to see them making a bad version of it? They're Radiohead, no? :D
Look how skinny and slim Thom is... And he's singing... How sexy is that?
LOL RAGE.
i wouldnt call it joyous haha, the song is not a joyous song
