      Wrong dude. They were all doing it correctly. The task was showing up and completing it, not adhering to a particular form. That's the point.

    • @bigredtv7986
      @bigredtv7986 7 лет назад +31

      Andrew Goldstein they weren't even doing a plank the whole time therefore they didn't complete it. I'm not saying I can, I can barely hold it perfectly for 2 minutes, but I'm still young and have time to develop.

      Christian Sells Part of it has to do with center of gravity too. Men are more too heavy and balance in the chest area, so more weight is on their arms proportionally. Women carry more weigh in their hips so they share more strain with their legs

    The point was not to do a plank, just to get them so physically uncomfortable that no amount of prior physical condition was going to help them avoid falling back on their mental skills. That's what they're doing right, teaching mental strength?

    • @TAS-gb5ph
      @TAS-gb5ph 6 лет назад +85

      AuricMonkey I don't think anyone could say it better. No one is strong enough to do a 45 minute plank with good form the whole time. The point is it takes an incredible amount of mental strength to even get close. That's what they're forcing you to use.

    I wonder how long they would last if they were flexing/squeezing their abs the entire time. I don't mean to doubt or discredit their effort because right now I would probably struggle holding a 6 minute plank let alone 45, but I know when I do a plank I try to contract all my musclues; quads, glutes, abs, obliques, pecs, etc. so I wonder how long they'd last doing it that way.

    Did a 12 minute plank the other day. Holy cow! The fact that everyone in the group completed this shows a lot about the power of the mind and group encouragement. Update: I've since done a 25 minute plank so still super impressed these guys were able to bite off a 45 minute one first try. Meditating a lot on the value of encouragement and team efforts.

    They all dropped at least a few times, but that's the thing. Yea some did better than others, but it's not about perfection, it's about teaching you to keep going even when you fall. Can you keep going through the strain and muscular pain over and over again until you've reached the end?

PS, there was also a competition between kustjägare and the navy seals, the kustjägare won because a seal broke his leg.

    Anyone giving the spiteful thumbs down or nitpicking the level of quality of the planks is missing the point by a spectacular distance. This challenge is about fighting through fatigue and the desire to quit. I don't care how bad their planks were, every one of those people had to fight through those minutes. You need to think bigger than technique and more about purpose.

    I hate it when people don't fucking do it right and they think they're good at this shit, while those who do it right have a hard time because they're DOING IT RIGHT DAMNIT

    From what we saw, they all did it right. But that wasn't the plank. That was holding the pressup position

    I remember at MCRD in 2000 when I went through boot camp a recruit lied about about making it up the ropes..... he was busted and the junior hat took him and when we got to he squad bay 2 hours later, the recruit was crying and Swartz g and had snot pouring from his nose. Lol man that was funny.

    More like 45 minute plank hold with breaks. Or 45min butts in the air. This exercise does more harm than good. Stresses back discs and tendons and is the starting point for disc/nerve degeneration. Its on the "Not Recomended PT list".

    The heck. 4 minutes already kill me and I had to distract myself after the third. Is it easier on you palms than forearms?

    Yes, this is just what the country needs, a bunch of already stressed Americans being belittled by a SEAL trainer.
    Harnessing anger and frustration all the time is not the right mentality to being fit enough to live better. Americans have become too angry at everything.
    Leave military training to service members where it belongs...

    I would like to see the entire 45 minute unedited video running alongside the edited video. I have a hard time believing anyone held even a very poor form plank for more than 10 minutes, let alone for 45. 4-5 minutes, maybe, but 45, prove me wrong. I'll give props where props are due and will happily write, "I was wrong."

    These individuals have decided to take on something bigger than themselves. To protect and serve our great nation, The United States Of America. And all most of you can do is criticize them. They are knee deep in probably 10 times the amount any of us in this comment section will ever acomplish.Or attempt to accomplish. I mean come on, we're literally in a RUclips comment section. Have some respect for the real deal, people.
