  • Todd Durkin, quarterback coach and trainer to NFL superstars at Fitness Quest 10 in San Diego, CA, answers the question of the Top 3 exercises for a young quarterback. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Ricky Stanzi demonstrates jumping rope, plank to pushups and Flex-T Walking Lunges. Complete 3 rounds of each of the exercises and set the foundation for some great skills.

    Jumping rope is very underutilized and overlooked for all types of athletic training. It's proven to significantly improve foot-speed and mobility, and can improve leg strength (somewhat) and make one an overall just faster sprinter as well. The only downside? High high impact. From experience make sure you have the right footwear before you do it with a lot of forefoot cushioning, and find the ideal location preferably not concrete or even gym floor. I use the bouncy gymnastic floor at my nearby gym.

      Keeps your elbow up for your throwing mechanics, and the twins helps your core flexibility, most of your throw strength comes from your core and cuff, and so that strengthens both at once
