    great philosophy i live by the same code... i mean people try to emulate jimi or dimebag and other greats and they get close but no one can ever replicate the feeling and soul behind others's playin exactly ...thats whats so cool about the guitar u can create your own sound based on your personality and i think thats what music is truly about

    Jerry is a top bloke and one of my favourite string-stranglers. In fact, his solo on a track by Fotheringay (The Sea) got me started playing guitar. I thought D-Open was the way all guitars were tuned and never got into playing using EADGBE. If the truth was known...I doubt there's been an "original" player since one particular hairy guy blew down a mammoth tusk and found a few notes. Love the way Jerry converted his Tele into a -G,-B,-E-Bender just using a finger rather than mechanics!

    Over and over again I hear this after hearing it first from my art professor (or perhaps I'm just more aware of it now).
    the 3 Rules of the Arts:
    1. Steal everything
    2. Improve it to suit you
    3. Make it your own
    too many people stop at step 1; masters use all and go beyond

      It is a lesson. You can learn by watching and listening to Jerry. It’s definitely a lesson, he explains how he came across the steel bending lick.

    It is a Peavey Omniac Guitar and this one is Jerry Donahue's Signature Series. It is a wannabe Telecaster but let me tell you, they sound better then what fender is making nowadays.

    People say the flatter 12" radius fretboards are better for bending, yet the JD "Bend King" guitars all have 7 1/4" necks. Please explain.

    Somewhat but more like building upon a foundation. Though if you don't change something more from where it came from (make it your own) then you are borrowing; like if you were doing a cover or a tribute. For example Jimi Hendrix and the songs All Along the Watchtower, Wild Thing, etc.

    @44eelz 14 лет назад +1

    @JerkyChid yeah covers and tributes are an exception, i meant calling something your own..

    @JerkyChid stopping at 1 is stealing...using all 3 is borrowing

    Damn, he's using 10s apparently. For bends as elaborate as that I'd be thinking at heaviest he'd have to be using woulda been 9s.
